My friend and I visited the restaurant one Friday night for dinner. The initial impression and aesthetics of the restaurant is elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. Nice ambiance. The place was very busy. Our name was taken and place on the waiting list. We went to the bar area to partake in libations while we waited. The bar waiter did come over to take our drink order. We waited approximately 30-45 minutes to be seated. We sat for an additional 15-20 minutes before we were services. My friend and I both had veggie risotto. It was not good at all. Not very flavorful. I felt as though the staff wasn't very attentive or accommodating to us. Maybe they were overwhelmed by the influx of people. Nonetheless, I may return for drinks but definitely not the food.

Quick Family Date Night To start out my review I must first give kudos to the owners and visionaries for bringing "fine"dinning to Rocky Mount. Besides prime Smokehouse and Jacks in the Mills you'd be hard pressed to find elevated eateries in Rocky Mount. So thanks for upgrading the pallet of many around. The owners stated they wanted to make it so people would not have to drive to Raleigh for a great meal at a nice steakhouse and they delivered in decor, setting, and menu options however after dinner we have concluded they may need a little more to help keep us from traveling to capital grille lol. We will approach this review from the perspective of local and someone who enjoys fine dinning a steakhouses. Our meal : I ordered the 12oz choice Ribeye cooked medium and added the brussel sprouts and Midas Mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to PERFECTION, I would have like a bit of a sear on it to add to the flavor. I appreciated that they cut the steak for you. Made me feel just like a cute little baby , nah but it was cool frfr. The Mashed potatoes were decent, not sure if they are house mashed or powder, sadly I could not tell, which from a fine dinning standpoint I felt I should have been able to differentiate. The brussel sprouts much like the steak was cooked to perfection however they were borderline hospital grade in flavor. I would have liked to see some sort of sweet soy glaze or bacon tossed in them to enhance the dish. They were simply not worth taking home unfortunately. We also got the bread service and man that bread was COLD and flavorless. Any warm butter would have helped however it came with an oil basalmic dressing to dip. Just not my preference. Ambiance : Y'all did the dang thang with the decor, the special touch of lighting, seating, and even the bathroom decor all came together and gave fine dining energy. My only issue was the men's restroom door. I took my son for a potty break and an older gentleman walked right in. The door locks from the inside but people are still able to open in from the outside after the lock button is pressed. Y'all gotta fix that asap. Service : we used opendoor and requested a booth in hopes to get one however the hostess sat us right by the kitchen at a table by the back door, when we saw much better booth like seating on the other side. We didn't complain as we like to be authentic in our dining process. The space was not that busy for a cold Tuesday night so we felt they definitely could have sat us elsewhere. The seating at the tables are very close however the space isn't the largest so I get them trying to maximize dining seating however we were close enough to the table behind us that our seats were almost touching. Our server Jessica was very accommodating and you could tell she knew how to serve families with little kids. It meant a lot. Overall : Overall Lilyanns saved us a drive to Raleigh and time which is so important for us, however in the end we felt our meal was lacking enough to truly keep us outta Raleigh. It's an upgrade for Rocky Mount for sure and definitely good enough to pull some dollars from the mills however for us we wanted more. The small details as it relates to seating, bathroom door, cold bread, and flavorless brussel sprouts have left us with no choice but to give a 3.5 outta 5. Best of luck to the new establishment. Welcome to the Mount!

The food was delicious. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly. Once inside the ambiance is outstanding. It's a little pricey but I highly recommend it. Rocky Mount needs to support, it's the first in fine steakhouse dining we have had in a long time.

Truffle and pecorino fries and pimento cheese and bacon mac and cheese

Let me start off by saying I don't really like steak. Red meat just isn't my favorite. So I was a little disappointed when my husband suggested going here for our date night tonight. Then the good came. The pimento cheese crab dip was The fresh warm bread with oil and balsamic vinegar. The steak was soooo tender. Cooked perfectly. Excellent just as it came, amazing with the garlic herb compound butter he got or the red wine and shallot demi glaze I got. Truffle and pecorino fries. Pimento cheese and bacon mac and cheese. The owner coming to the tables to speak to guests. The chef speaking to tables. Amazing. Out waitress was on point and very attentive. The space was intimate and very classy. Don't let that bad yelp review or the price hold you back. 11/10.

The steak was over seasoned and over cooked. The brussel sprouts were cold. The experience was less than impressive.

First things first: be prepared to spend some money…read more Second: do not expect fine dining. You can spend the same amount at places like Ruth's Chris, Sullivan's, or Angus Barn and get nicer décor and a more polished atmosphere. If you come to Beefmastor Inn expecting an upscale experience, you'll likely be disappointed -- and you'll probably complain about the tight seating, the long wait, the plastic tablecloths, or the iceberg lettuce. That said, Beefmastor has a charm that's hard to deny -- even if it can feel off-putting at first. The place is small and spartan. On busy nights, you will wait. You might end up seated near the bathroom. It's not intimate, and it's not glamorous. What it is, however, is the polar opposite of pretentious. Every inch of the place feels like old-school North Carolina: cinderblock walls, checkered plastic tablecloths, cottage cheese and raisins on the salad bar. The food is straightforward and unembellished. To be honest, I've had better steaks. I ordered the 10 oz., and it was a bit inconsistent -- velvety in parts, gristly in others, and slightly under-seasoned. But what I appreciated most was the feeling of stepping into a time machine. It felt like a snapshot of a different era -- before towns like Wilson faded and before chain restaurants took over every strip mall. Beefmastor Inn isn't perfect. My meal wasn't perfect. The service wasn't perfect. And it's not cheap. Still, I genuinely enjoyed the experience, and I think it's worth visiting at least once. If you have boomer family members, I can almost guarantee they'll absolutely love it.

We ate at a comfortable bar seat due to full house. The bartender, Melody knew her job & made perfect mixed drinks. She was also our server. We were served in a timly manner & left after an un-rushed hour. Our meal consisted of bleu cheese apple salad, she crab soup, filet done to perfection with potato & asparagus. Dessert was key-lime pie (delicious) & crem brule (slurp). Including 4 bar drinks, total was $105 and worth every penny. Our server was quite nice and was able to answer our menu questions. Our meal began with the soup of the day, Chicken Tortilla Soup. It was quite tasty, full of veggies that you would find in a pico de gallo nestled in a rich tomato broth, topped with crispy tortilla strips and served in a very small 8oz cup. What was missing was the chicken... I think I encountered one very small cube of chicken in one of those bites. My husband had the bowl size and echoed the same sentiment. For entre, I ordered the Blue Cheese and Apple Salad and made it a meal with the delicately fried oysters. The portions were great for a meal, but I expected more diversity in the salad greens. I received a mound of spinach that would make Popeye extremely happy. I would have loved some crispy romaine to vary the density of the spinach. However, the house dressing and candied walnuts added a great touch. My husband ordered the Cajun Chicken Pasta which I sampled. I loved the sausage and the complexity of flavors for this dish. My son had the crab cakes which were also greatly portioned. He said that the cakes were very good, but for the premium prices he'd expected more crab and less filler. Nevertheless, he still cleaned his plate. Overall, we had a pleasant evening, but for what you pay for a meal, I expected a little bit more.

There were very few options that fit my dietary needs. I ultimately ordered the ribs, but the only sides available to me were the sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. All three items came with sauces, which made the overall meal feel overly sauced and heavy. My husband ordered the hush puppies and said they had good flavor, but they seemed like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while rather than coming out fresh. The ribs themselves were cooked well, but the sauce was extremely vinegar-forward--not sweet, but quite tangy. Combined with the balsamic glaze on the Brussels sprouts and the brown sugar and possible maple syrup on the sweet potatoes, everything together felt a bit overwhelming in terms of sauces and sweetness. For those with food allergies, be prepared to order à la carte and expect limited choices for sides. I would consider dining here again, but next time I'd make more selective choices to better suit my dietary restrictions.

I called to make a reservation about a month in advance, as we were a group of 26. The staff I worked with over the phone leading up to the dinner was friendly, helpful and communicative. They called to confirm about a week prior and asked if we wanted to create any special menus for our event, which was a very nice gesture. On the day of, the restaurant called for a final confirmation and offered us the private back room for the evening. This worked out perfectly! The food was absolutely incredible and exceeded expectations. The team all enjoyed their meals, which was a variety of orderings, and the adults raved about the dishes ordered, as well. The shrimp and grits was perfection, the French onion soup was flavorful and perfect after a cold, rainy day and the pork chop was seasoned incredibly.
