I went to the Westside Club, hoping to get not only my Arnie Palmer from Travis but also something to go from their Bar & Grille Menu. The vendor providing the food has changed from Aardmark to Ovations. They have a new policy in that one can no longer take food to go or order menu items from the bar. Gone are some of my favorite items on the menu...the lobster roll with aioli and garlic fries, shrimp in the basket with fries and that delicious bourbon bread pudding from 2012 going for a price of $7.00. Too bad because that was the best bread pudding I have ever had. Items on the small plates menu are pricy, ranging from $10 (Queso-chorizo dip) to $16 (dungeness crab cakes). For example, grilled mahi-mahi fish tacos for $15 and jumbo chicken wings tossed in one of the following sauces - buffalo, sweet chili or BBQ for $13. I'm not sure how many tacos one will get and how wings will be on that small plate. They also have three types of salad - Gold & Green Kale Salad, $13; Asian chicken salad, $14; and Caesar salad - starter, $6 and entree, $10. The line was long and I imagined the wait was probably even longer. I managed to run into Travis, my favorite bartender, and immediately ordered my Arnie Palmer and a Corona beer for my hubby. We came here to have dinner with friends before the A's/Giants' game but it took awhile to get a table and when we finally sat down and ordered, it took about 45 minutes to get our food. The server apologized and said they were awfully busy tonight. We started off with some baked potato skins and popcorn shrimp. Then we had French dip sandwich, Reuben sandwich, mahi mahi fish tacos, Chipotle bbq chicken sandwich, and the Coliseum burger. All were tasty and plentiful. We had to take some of the leftovers to the baseball seats with us. The bar area was rather loud as we had some boisterous Giant fans screeching! read more

The view of the field is the real plus here, and the full bar. The food is expensive here but I guess that is to be expected because it's a sports arena/coliseum. The food was decent, I had the coliseum burger. The person I was with was not happy with their food, a wedge salad but then again who orders a wedge salad at a baseball game. If that is you, maybe just ask for the side of salad that comes with any other meal if you don't want the French fries. The service wasn't great. They were very nice but took forever to both serve the food and even longer to bring the check and the even longer to come back to pick up the payment. It was not busy at all so I am not sure what happens when it actually is busy. read more

I have been a season ticket holder for many many years. I have always enjoyed the Westside Club. Some of the best bloody mary's, the friendly staff, and a great place to chill when you have to get in two hours early to get a bobblehead. But since Ovations have taken over I almost want to avoid this place. - The stopped serving food in the casual/bar area because they couldn't maintain it on Opening Night. Big huge BOO. I relied on this in the past. Thankfully the brick oven pizza is tasty but I don't always want that and since my last experience I probably won't be ordering again - or will be hesitant. - Here's why - The lady manager of the West Side club is probably the most miserable, rudest person ever. I have now seen on repeated occasions her being absolutely downright degrading and disrespectful to the workers in the area. Like I said, I've been going to the Coliseum for many years and those of us who attend +20 games a season get to know these workers and have almost become "friends" with them. They have worked very hard for their jobs over the past few years and to now see these people being treated this way by this lady just makes me sad and sick to my stomach. But it didn't stop there. On my last visit to the Coliseum, I ordered pizza and was standing in the area waiting for my pizza with a friend, out of everyone's way, and instead of asking us to move nicely she came up to us and practically yelled/barked orders for us to move. She basically treated us (the customers) the same way she treats the employees and neither is acceptable. I don't know if this lady hates her job or what but it's uncalled for and should not be accepted and if she really hates her job that much, perhaps she should find a new one. - Craft beer is good and the line moves quickly. About all they have left in the West Side Club unless you want to really have a seat on the window side and have a meal. But most importantly, Ovations learn to respect the employees. read more

2015 Opening Night for the Oakland A's - No longer will Ovations be serving food in the bar area in the Westside Club. Patrons were told that the kitchen could not serve both the bar and the regular seating area. If you want food in the bar area, you have to go obtain it yourself from a vendor. Very disappointing. So down the concourse I go. Simple order of a veggie burger and a chicken sandwich, both with fries. It takes 10 MINUTES for my order to be filled. I was probably their 10th customer as I was one of the first fans in line to enter the ballpark when the gates opened. DID THEY NOT KNOW WE WERE COMING?!? Went here yesterday for some drinks and food. Being a Dodgers fan (woohoo) myself as I do originate from SoCal...and seeing how the game was A's vs. Angels, I really didn't have much to watch (HA!) So we came down here and grabbed a table. I think they were understaffed or...have a strict server per table policy, so the wait was pretty substantial. But the VIEW of the diamond was GREAT. It's definitely recommended to watch the game from here, as it is located on the 2nd floor (I believe) of the stadium and overlooks the field from almost center field behind the catcher's position. (or somewhere similar...I was pretty tipsy). We ordered a bunch of different drinks, the server was super busy but helpful. Again, wait time was pretty long, but honestly if I was there to watch the game like a normal As fan would have been, the wait really isn't a big deal. We also ordered Caesar Salads and some GARLIC FRIES. Not as good as Dodgers stadium, but pretty damn close. They are so good, and they hit the spot especially at a baseball game. Doesn't matter if you're in your seats or at a table, still so good. The salads have some awesome croutons. Come to think of it, the food was actually pretty great and from what the other patrons at different tables were ordering, it all looked pretty tasty. Prices were medium-high, but great for baseball food prices. Overall, definitely recommended. I heard they have a strict reservation policy or whatever it is, but we kind of just jaunted on in, because there were half a dozen open tables. And we kind of just flagged all the servers attention who were working at the time, until one of them served us... Super fun and the full bar (which closes at the bottom of the 7th inning) is right behind you, so its alcoholic baseball viewing central over at the Westside Club. read more

Bartenders can be very rude!! Regardless if its a Raider or an A's game the wait is always horrendous for a drink. I thought it would be more beneficial to spend a few more dollars and get a cocktail rather than a $8 beer, boy was i wrong. Very frustrating, considering the size of the bar they could use at least 2 more bartenders. read more

If you haven't been to the Westside club, odds are you haven't ever been to an A's game either. Pretty much the only updated attraction of a withering old stadium lost in the haze of terrible ownership. During bigger games it gets pretty crowded but don't expect there to be extra staff. It's always 2 bartenders per side with 1 runner whether there are 40 thousand people there or 3. You can get mixed drinks there but I'm not sure why at $10 a pop and beer is 50 cents more expensive than the rest of the stadium. They have table service so you can watch the game from the big glass windows but is it's SUPER expensive and not all that great. Best reason to go is to escape the horrors going on during another on field failure by either the A's or Raiders game. read more

I get to grab a beer after Raider games. When they win, the crowd is festive and it seems like they stay open longer. However, when they lose, it seems that everyone just wants to get the hell out, including the staff. As far as I am concerned, keep the place open for 2 hours after the end of the game, crank the TVs and invite the players up. They do it in other cities, why not here? Hell, the players and families have to go off insight. Seems silly to close early. Be consistent and keep it open longer. read more

You think it's tough to get a reservation at The French Laundry? It's nothing compared to getting a table at The Westside Club at McAfee Coliseum. For any of the premium games (against the Yankees, Red Sox or Giants), you'd better call early and often. They keep changing the rules, too. They used to require that you call and leave a message the day of the game and wait for a callback. Now I guess they allow you to call in advance. I got a table for Tuesday, but for Thursday - no chance. DON'T come here for the food. The food here is the same crappy food you can get at any concession stand, except it is brought to you on a real plate by real waiters. You know what that means: even higher markup and, of course, the tip. It's true, the food looks a little more appetizing and even classier than the same food sold throughout the ballpark. For a minute, you begin to forget you're eating ballpark food, and then . . . then they bring you your soda in a paper cup. At that very moment, you realize: The Boulevard, it ain't. DON'T come here for the service. The service is S-L-O-W and inattentive. They're friendly and polite, but the kitchen is busy, and the restaurant is severely understaffed. DO come here for the view. If you're lucky enough to get a table on the glass (2-person tables only), you can watch the entire game from the comfort of an air-conditioned restaurant. It's pretty great for really hot/really cold days. I am not sure when you need to call to reserve those tables, though. I hear tables with a view are still available for select games in the 2009 season . . . DO come here for peace and quiet. If you don't want to deal with obnoxious fans who had too much to drink; if you are worried about hot nacho cheese ruining your designer jeans; if you are tired of being mistaken for a plebeian - this is the place for you. Roped off from the rest of the ballpark, The Westside Club provides you the sense of exclusivity and allows you to feel special for just a couple of dollars more. It's a bargain, if you really think about it. 2 DO's + 2 DON'Ts = 3 stars. read more

Always go to the Westside Club for ballgames. Food is much better than I would expect. Prime Rib Beef dip and burgers are really quite good. Definitely seek out Tina or Larry. They are awesome! Tina makes a mean Bloody Mary. read more

During baseball season the A's leave the club open to everyone. It's cool, but nothing like it is during the Raider games. It's exclusive and is the best seat in the house to watch the game. The food is great for a football game and they added a DJ for 2010. To sum it up, it's crackin up in here...if you get a shot at club tix, take it! read more

Good place to come get a drink during and A's or Raiders game. Service can be slow and drinks sometimes limited but you really do not have a choice if you want something more than beer. if you get to a game early enough you can sit right at the window and watch the game from especially box seats for free. my friends and i used to do this same thing during the summer when the A's had dollar night. (now $2 night). Yes you will have to keep ordering food/drinks if you want to stay in the seats the whole game but between a bunch of people that isn't that bad. read more

i was there with my boyfriend for the Boston game Sept. 11th. We wanted something to eat...and decided on the WESTSIDE CLUB...it was crowded but only took about 10min to get a table. And when we did it was a table for two by the HUGE PICTURE windows, which were AWESOME for watching the game.I had the salmon burger, which was JUICY and YUMMY, my boyfriend had the HALIBUT fish and chip...also very TASTY. The service was good...our waiter was VERY attentive and POLITE...we spent about 20$ more than we would have eating at a concession stand...but we got to sit down and enjoy our food. Don't pay in cash! We put in cash in the bill folder. The waitress disappeared for 15 minutes. We asked repeatedly for our waitress. We finally tracked down the manager who took another 5+ minutes to tracked down the waitress. She didn't have our receipt but gave us $8 when we were due $20. The manager just shrugged.
