This place was great. Our waitress was awesome, food was good, and the carrot cake was, well, GIGANTIC and delicious. One piece fed four people and we wobbled out of there. My wife and I picked up a couple of sandwiches and carrot cake for takeout. It was the best takeout service I have had at any restaurant. It was not the fastest, the most professional, and the waitress even tried to only charge me for one sandwich instead of two. So why was it the best? It felt like I was being taken care of by a family member. She seemed to care about me and the food she was giving me. The food was delicious. It didn't hurt that she gave us the carrot cake for free because it was not perfectly shaped when she put it in the container. One order was still enough for my wife and I to have our fill with more left over. Even though the wall is full of art and trinkets, your eyes still drew towards the biggest elk head I had ever seen. I'm rarely impressed by restaurants overall. Westside checks all boxes! Excellent food at affordable prices. Frankly the food exceeded the price and you get large portions to boot! The staff was warm and friendly. The service excellent. The atmosphere was casual, relaxed and the decore fascinating, eclectic and beautifully decorated. The diner was also very clean! I felt comfortable and well cared for. If I lived in the area I'd definitely frequent this incredible diner. This place is most definitely a hidden gem! A very great selection of food and it was very tasty for each of my 6 family members. We are a handful but the waitress, Bridgette, matched our energy and was very talkative. You can tell she wants to get to know her customers and cares about them. My family of six stopped here for lunch. Lilo's cafe takes advantage of the tourist location on Route 66, evident in the prices. To make up for it, they serve large portions of decent food. The ground beef had some good mushrooms and onions on top, but underflavored. It was ok. Both came with salad or soup (potato soup was good), and both also came with a potato (baked, mashed, fries, or waffle fries). I preferred the seasoned waffle fries. Large portions. The carrot cake was super big and dense/moist, and the almond flavor in the frosting was very good. I probably would have put 3 starsfor the food, but the ambience was nice, and the waitress was super nice and took the 10 percent post-checkin discount for everyone together even though initially we asked the bill to be split. I was really hesitant to eat here but my traveling partner was really hungry! We had to stop somewhere to get breakfast. We sat wherever was free. I don't think they seat their customers; you choose where to sit. Then the waitress took a while to give us menus. I heard her giving the table next to us a free slice of pie because they had been waiting a long time for something. I got the hearty breakfast, which was a lot of food. I got a slice of ham, some eggs, and potatoes. The potatoes were good! The ham and eggs were average and not bad. My traveling partner had the country steak and gravy. It came with biscuits, which the kitchen forgot about. We had to ask them for it at the end of the meal because it just wasn't coming. They were hard and not good. The gravy was just average, nothing special. They were really busy and crowded for a weekday morning. I bet they get a lot of tourists coming through. Their wall decor is really interesting. If you're trucking down I-40 and hungry you need to pump the brakes and get off here. This place is so good. We shared the chicken fried steak, and without a doubt it's the best we've ever had. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and we shared a chili cheese fries and the hubs had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. I very much enjoyed my sandwich. The buffalo sauce was the right amount and the right amount of heat the chicken was juicy and tender! We would have never made it to Lilo's if it wasn't for my husband who had to take a zoom call on our way back to San Jose. Basically while driving, my husband asks me to search for a restaurant within 30 minutes of where we were at so that he could take a call and also get lunch at the same time. In the middle of nowhere I searched dog friendly cafes based on our current location and Lilo's was the first to pop up. So we made our way there not really knowing what to expect since I didn't really have much time to read the reviews but the stars were good. So when we arrived we immediately noticed a lot of cars parked out front which gave us a sign that the place must be really good. We also saw they had patio seating which was a plus since we had our dog, King, with us. Upon arrival we were immediately welcomed by the friendly staff! Even our dog, King, was welcomed by the locals standing outside the restaurant. With concerns of COVID-19, I immediately noticed the restaurant was following safety guidelines so seating was spaced out and the waitresses wore masks (thank you!) We were immediately seated outside of the patio and given a menu which had a lot of mouth watering choices (lots of comfort food). King was a good boy and quietly sat on a chair instead of laying on the floor as I glanced at the menu. The waitress did not mind at all. She was so friendly and attentive to our small party. I also enjoyed our quick conversations regarding our love for jack russell terriers. We ended up ordering chicken tenders & fries for me, hot open faced turkey sandwich for the hubs, German bratwurst with sauerkraut for my father, and a slice of carrot cake to go because carrot cake is a favorite of mine. Portions are large for what you pay. I enjoyed my meal because it wasn't greasy and dry. My chicken was fried to perfection and the fries tasted like fresh cut potatoes. Definitely not the frozen ore ida type of fries at all. My father enjoyed his bratwurst and the homemade sauerkraut that he ended up ordering an extra side of it to take while on the long drive home. My poor hubby couldn't eat his meal right away since his call was running longer than expected but the waitress, out of concern, was so kind to bring a to go box to pack his food to prevent it from getting cold fast from sitting out too long (why didn't I think of that?). As soon as my husband's call was over, he immediately scarfed down his meal as if it was his last meal on earth. He said it was delicious. Overall we enjoyed our meal and the service. Truthfully I think the best meal we had on our entire trip was here at Lilo's. It was warm comfort food for us at a good price. It is truly a gem of a restaurant and I'm so happy we got to discover this place. With the pandemic and stress that most folks have been feeling, I haven't felt such warm and friendliness especially in the service industry lately (especially in San Jose). At Lilo's I felt so welcomed and in a place like "Cheers" where everybody knows your name. Such kind, warm, friendly service, good food and hospitality. I wish a lot of businesses in our area had the kind of attitude the staff has. We will definitely come back whenever we make our way back to Arizona. Oh about the carrot cake, O.M.G.!!! I finally got to have a taste of it the next morning for breakfast since we had arrived home so late and tired. When the waitress asked me if I was sure to only order a slice, I should have ordered another one (face palm regret). Holy moly as a carrot cake lover, I was blown away! I had literally taken it out of the fridge thinking the cake would be dry and hard but as soon as I took a bite of it, it was so moist and had the perfect flavor (not too sweet either). Best carrot cake ever, SERIOUSLY! The slices are large and can serve 3-4 people but because it's so delicious I don't want to share anymore. Damn, why did I not take the offer for a second slice?! I ended up going on Yelp to check reviews and sure nuff there's a lot of mention on the carrot cake. If they sold whole cakes online to ship, I would definitely place an order! Our family trip to UT and AZ was for my birthday and I have to admit our visit to Lilo's, the food, friendly service, and carrot cake was one of the highlights of this trip! So there's going to be German stuff on the menu. Schnitzel and sauerbraten and things with cabbage. Be prepared. As much as I wanted some of their excellent sounding desserts, I chose the chicken club. A large flattened chicken breast with cheees and lots of bacon on what could have been a handmade bun, with a very large pile of hand cut fries. Yummy! Really good service and good coffee, we arrived just ahead of the rush so the gals were trying hard to keep up with demand. Check out the little gift shop attached to the store. The staff was friendly and nice. I was not a big fan of the decor of the place but I understand the theme. I asked the server what is the place known for? She said everything is fresh and hand made. This restaurant is a cool place to visit with its unique mix of European license plates, mounted animal heads, and Route 66 memorabilia. Family and I were on our homeward bound leg from our Calif. to Utah to Arizona to California rod trip. We decided to stop in Seligman as it is a town on the Route 66 path and wifey had stopped here years ago in college for a meal. As you walk in, the decorations are eclectic as it tries to cover a Route 66 touristy roadside cafe, Arizona old town (mounts on wall), and a smattering of Germany. The tables are cut from massive trees and stained. They are so cool! Our waitress,Brigid (I hope the spelling is correct) was awesome. She was from our home town so she took some extra time to reminisce with us about the SLO area. She also was able to get our son to interact with her which can be a challenge so extra kudos to her. Her customer service was exceptional. In regards to the food, it was hit and miss. We were eating in the late afternoon but they served breakfast all day. So with that, our son had pancakes...at 4 pm. Okay! Wifey decided to try their taco salad bowl and I had their bratwurst. Our son ate all of his breakfast/lunch meal which means he liked it. Wifey's taco bowl was nothing spectacular. The bratwurst and sauerkraut were pretty good. We had a nice experience at Lilo's. It's a fun place to visit. Well this is a hard review.. the place is adorable in a little Cars Land town of Seligman . It was very cute, busy perfect looking diner . Our server was very friendly and very pleasant. But sadly to me the food was meh.. I ordered an open face "beef" sandwich with mashed potatoes. It was terrible. It was low level cafeteria style. My son ordered a tuna melt and again the tuna had a weird wang to eat. My other son ordered a burger and it was pretty dry .
