This restaurant is a hidden little place on the south side of Lynx Lake, just before the upper parking area. Be aware it is not open during the winter months. There is plenty of indoor seating, but the best seats are of course, outside where you can have your meal while gazing on the beauty of the lake and forest. There are plenty of seats outdoors with great views. Yes, we all know the lake level is (ahem) not as high as it should be, but it's still a great place to visit and have a meal. The food is fairly basic, but does have some German-inspired fare including dishes with Brats and for lunch/dinner, you can get schnitzel! You can also get beer to wash down your German food, so that's quite nice. The food was competent but not perfection. Again, it's about the location. The one ding I would point out is that the service is slow. I am talking 30-40 minutes to get your breakfast. They have limited staff so I suggest bringing a bag of patience and maybe some snacks if you are super hungry. read more

Food was good. Ambiance was great!!! Nothing like a hot cup of coffee with cool breezes blowing thru the pines. The only thing I say is a negative is that I left feeling completely guilty asking the waitress for water, more coffee - anything. I heard the cook yell and the server was uptight. It was Mother's Day and we were the first customers there. The food is really incredible! The wait time may be long (1 hr 15 minutes last time) because last two times there was only one chef and one waiter ... but you are in nature with a gorgeous view of the lake! Our hat off to the waiter ...he was swamped, overloaded with all the tables and took quite some yelling from the chef for not picking up the food fast enough , BUT he never lost his cool, never stopped smiling, remained very pleasant AND dropped everything to help an elderly couple to their car! Wow, it's finally closed. This place is in real need for Gordon Ramsey and his 'Kitchen Nightmares' to come and totally revamp the place. It is so dingy, with years of caked on grime on the table and chairs. The kitchen must be 3x worse. Hopefully, if and when this place opens, they will have rebuilt the building to overlook the lake more and have open air seating on a patio off of the dinning area. My friend and I were camping at Lynx Lake. We hiked over to the Lynx Lake Cafe looking forward to having lunch. Disappointingly the cafe was closed. So we took a little break in the shade at their picnic tables. A man came out and very rudely told us that the public area was over there (across the parking lot) and that's where we needed to go. Lots of outdoor seating, park bench style. A handful of tables under the awning for times of weather. Great spot to go with the dog prior or after a walk around the lake! It's very hit or miss, call ahead as it can end up being closed due to being short staffed. This one was referred to us by our friends as having yummy food and a great view! First, they were correct the view is outstanding. It's a beautiful lake. It'll be a luck of the draw to get a window seat though as there are only a few. But don't fret, you can still go outside and enjoy the view from outside. And it's still visible from other seats. We decided to come for breakfast. My husband got a regular combo breakfast, and I had the Brekki bowl. Both items were great! The only disappointment in the food was we thought we saw photos of delicious fried potatoes. But instead, they served us tater tots! Not good. They really made my bowl mushy. Husband didn't even touch his. (not a dealbreaker, I would just order something besides them next time now that we know). I would say the menu they had was quite reduced than the ones previously posted on-line on Yelp. Now there's the issue of our Server. This gentleman was so non-interested in friendliness, conversation, nothing. He made zero niceties, never came back and asked us how our meal was. He showed up when it was obvious we were finished eating and asked if we needed anything else. We said no. Well...not now J - we are finished eating (I certainly would have imbibed in a second mimosa!) lol So then he set our bill down on our table and walked away. Not so much as a thank you or goodbye!! When he sat us at our table, I thanked him. When he finished taking our order I thanked him. When he dropped off our order, I thanked him. (my husband told me to stop thanking him) I've never had someone be so rude to me that I tried to be nice and appreciative to. I mean, everyone has a bad day, but this was beyond. My husband and I noticed the other two female servers who were laughing and chatting with their customers. We had server-envy that we weren't being served by one of them!! All this said, we will be going back in the next few weeks! However, I will make SURE we have a different server experience! Beware they charge to split a meal.. ok fine but they don't tell you there is no sharing food at all or they will charge you. My friend wanted to try my sandwich to see if she would like it and the owner came over and said no sharing food! If I am paying for the meal is it not mine? We had 7 people and a 230 dollar bill.. to tell us we can share food was ridiculous!!! My husband and I stopped in around 4:30 pm for an early dinner. We were the 2nd people to be seated at that point, so it really wasn't busy yet. We sat near the window facing the lake, which was beautiful. I ordered the Jagerschnitzel and he had the fried fish special... basically all you could eat fish. Both dishes were cooked well. The schnitzel was moist and lightly breaded, with a nice textured cream sauce. The fish was flaky, moist, and lightly breaded also. The curly fries were delicious, but how could you go wrong with fries?! The only thing that was a bummer was both dishes were very under seasoned and lacked flavor. 10/31/24. Lynx Lake 1. Toasted marble rye. Possibly Chompies bread. 2. Thousand island with taste. 3. Sauerkraut with a strong taste and drained. Possibly even grilled. But not a fresh kraut. It was dry enough to keep the taste without making the sandwich a soggy mess. 4. Thin sliced corned beef. Pre packaged but of good quality. Should have had more meat. 5. Swiss cheese thick enough to hold up to the sandwich ingredients with a strong texture. All in all a very good Reuben sandwich. The bread remained crunchy/toasty through the meal. Never turned soggy. The ingredients were in a good proportion but it could have had more meat to it. This is definitely not ad thick as your Jewish deli Reuben. I'll put this as one of the top five in the Prescott area. It came with a side of coleslaw. Freshly chopped cabbage not sliced with a very good dressing. Possibly canned but there are some good homemade dressings around. The whole place is a restaurant/bar takeout. And only open on certain days but well worth the wait. If lucky you can get a view of the lake and spring summer the humming birds. They are a bit slow on getting the food out. Expect a wait but well worth it. read more

Just when you think places like this don't exist anymore, you find this rustic gem perched on a hillside overlooking a picture perfect lake. It's quaint with charm not just because of it's homey decor, but because of it's wonderful hard working staff that make you feel welcomed from the start. The warm feeling of family served up with friendly smiles and a view. Ok so the crab cakes weren't to die for, the generous bowl of fries and the choices of wine and beer made up for that. The type of place as a local that you could make a regular stop alone or with guests. A treasure for tourists and campers who are looking for a satisfying meal, great service, away from all the too peopley places in town. Went to Lynx Lake on Sunday. When we got there they said that they were experiencing a high volume of customers and we would have to wait 15 minutes to be seated. We happily complied and waited. After about 20 minutes they took us to a table. A guy came over and gave us 2 glasses of water. After another 30 minutes went by he came and took our order. After over an hour and a half of waiting, the waiter came out and said our food was being plated. WHY DIDN'T YOU WAIT IN THE KITCHEN FOR THE FOOD? He then went to another table, cleaned it off, then went to another table and took their order. Guess what, WE LEFT. Oh my goodness! We've visited this place twice since they opened this year and it did not disappoint. Last time we were here we sat outside, but today we sat inside and had an amazing view of the lake and the beautiful hummingbirds that were busy eating too. I don't usually write a review. We were there on the morning of July 5th. The food here was the best breakfast I have had in a long time. The service was good, even though only one waiter and an unusually busy morning. The chef even helped out. The toast looked and tasted like homemade. The potatoes had an amazing flavor. The bacon was real bacon and like 5 full pieces, not this fake stuff and only 2 pieces. Table #8 outside had an incredible view of the lake. It was so peaceful. I just love this place. The location is so lovely. Very different from the rest of Prescott with all those amazing Ponderosa trees. And the hummingbirds! Entertainment by hummingbirds, you can't beat it. The schnitzel is excellent. I love the Australian version with the avocado. I swear I dream about it. I also love their Spätzle. Their brats are delish. And you can't finish any meal here without ending it with their home made fresh out of the oven strudel. Ok. I admit it. First time writhing a "review". Please do yourself, your friend and loved ones a favor and don't let them "attempt" to eat at this establishment. I guarantee they'll be disappointed on all levels. There were five of us. One meal was sent back as unacceptable and brought back to our table with the statement. "Maybe somebody else would like to eat this", "we will not be taking it off the bill."Second meal was a burger that was raw. Never asked "how would you like your burger cooked" brought back a second time still raw . Third meal was brought out incorrect and the fourth meal was not ever entered into there system. Fifth meal was acceptable, but not eaten. When it was asked that the burger be cooked, medium well we were told" get out and never come back". We paid for what we consumed and we left.
