Be aware, this is not a dine in restaurant. Carry out only. Very, very friendly owner. Wants to get to know you and wants to show off how good his food is. Everywhere I go I eat brisket, they don't have brisket here they have a "beef dinner". I am pretty sure it was very thinly sliced rump roast. My first time here, the lady working the front gave me an entire rib. Yes, an ENTIRE rib. It was so bomb. I was in rib heaven. I ordered the rib tips meal with mac & cheese and the green beans. Everything was amazing. The flavor of the mac & cheese was great and the green beans had a good amount of kick to it, which I really enjoyed. And the rib tips? Oh my goodness.... Next time I will order a tray of them. But the rib experience that was my first, I must not ignore. So I shall order a tray of that, actually. I mean, 1 rib was great and all, but imagine if I had an entire rack of those delicious, fall-off-the-bone ribs with their savory, sweet, tangy BBQ sauce? I'd eat my fingers if I didn't know that they were attached to me. Finger licking good for sure! And the people who work here are so pleasant. They make you feel welcome. Had a craving for BBQ and just didn't want the usual commercial spots. We found a spot on Foothill Blvd in Rialto which had a huge pit grill outside. You could smell the meat cooking as you drive up. We had ribs, chicken and two sides(mac n cheese, baked beans). We got our sauce on the side and it was sweet, tangy and thick, like St. Louis sauce. The ribs were tender and the chicken was juicy. The place is a takeout place but it has a jukebox with soulful sounds coming out. The gentleman working the register was personable and very knowledgeable. Not a place to take a date. Uuuuuuh not impressed. I called in ahead and placed a order for a chopped beef dinner. When I got there the food was ready. On the counter they had pictures of the deserts, pies and cakes, they served. I asked the gentleman there did they have a particular cheesecake that was pictured, and of course they did not. The man then asked would I like white or wheat bread with my dinner. I said white. He then made a joke saying "bar-b-que just isn't the same with wheat bread and I agreed. I then went about completing my errands before finally arriving home prepared to eat my meal only to find that this man didn't include any bread in my meal. I had to drive all the way back and explained to him what he had forgotten to include. He apologized, but I wasn't particularly happy about having to come all the way back. When I arrived home to eat my meal for the second time I was not impressed by the taste of the mild sauce. The meat wasn't all that tasty without it or with it for that matter. Needless to say, I will not be coming back. If you're in Rialto make the drive to Woody's Bar-b-que on Foothill and Meridian the sauce tastes much better there. My Friend Gill came by and said John I got something in my truck for you. Came out with a coworker for lunch, after reading the Yelp reviews. We walked in, were greeted by the girl at the register, and we looked over the menu as she wrapped up with another customer. She handed each of us a sample rib, and I'm glad she did. The mild sauce that came on it was, well, very mild. I knew that for my taste, I might enjoy the hottest sauce they had. I ordered a beef sandwich, but the cook; a young guy clearly working hard to get through the end of a lunch rush; informed us that he'd run out of beef. Alright, a catfish sandwich. No, out of that too. The cashier said "I gotta call Daddy," and got on the phone. I discussed the remaining options with the cook, and settled on a rib tip sandwich with "real hot" sauce. Once the cashier finished her conversation with her father about the availability of beef, she rang me up. Seven bucks for a sandwich and side is a really reasonable price in my book. So how was it? Well, let's lay some ground rules. I'm not going to discount points for running out of beef and catfish. To me, that means two things: they cooked a certain amount fresh for the lunch rush, and they got more demand than they expected. Nothing wrong with that. I also won't discount points for things that aren't on the menu. No beef ribs? Cool. No turkey? Although I think turkey would be a great addition, cool. You know your customers better than I do. So I'll rate based on what they have and had available. My sandwich was excellent, though it's tough to call it a sandwich. It was pieces of ribs served with two slices of bread. I decided to dive in with both hands, pick the meat from the bones, and make a proper sandwich. After a quick handwash, I was back in business. They ran out of napkins and the owner actually left the kitchen to walk across busy Foothill Blvd. to purchase more napkins for the restaurant. Cons: flavorless rib tips and greens. While the food looked and smelled great, the food was bland. The bbq baked beans was missing some ingredients and had way too much brown sugar. Another Yelper said the bbq sauce was comparable to water down spaghetti sauce and that is absolutely correct. Wow!! The ribs; the meat does just falls of the bone with a great smoke on them. The beef brisket is cut thick with some very tender pieces along with some bark in every order. Hands down, one (if not the best beef) of the best brisket I've ever had. Now let me tell you about the BBQ sauce; tangy and a bit spicy with hints of sweetness. As others have mentioned, if it's your first time there, you're offered a sample rib (which was delicious.) We ordered a couple of their dinner combos to try different things from them. Portions are good for the price, and the sauce is good! I wish there was a sauce between the Mild sauce and the Medium Hot, but that's nitpicking. Service was friendly, and I would go back. Boy oh boy; coming from the boondocks of Mississippi and traveled all throughout the south, I would have to say I'm pretty well versed in BBQ. I have been hunting for a proper, delicious, make your mouth water from a mile and a half away type BBQ since arriving in California three years ago. Westside Pit throws down on the smoker, exceeds every expectation and raised my standard of what BBQ should taste like. I live two hours away but that won't stop me from coming here regularly now. Their baked potato is delicious! You can get it with any meat of your choice and I went with the chopped beef. The potato is huge and they are generous on the meat. Their sauces have a lot of flavor to them. I tried the ribs and they fell off the bone. Big portions and great flavor. read more

Service: Great! Cashier immediately asked if this was our first time there. When we said yes, she yelled "sample!" to the cook and a couple of ribs appeared for us to try. Very friendly and fast. Food: Disappointing. We saw this restaurant on our local PBS show and the food looked great on TV. Unfortunately, it was one of these BBQ places where the meat was as good as the sauce which was meh. Just in the area and look what I found, could it be a diamond in the ruff? The smoker was outside puffin away so I thought I had better go over and do some investigating. Upon my entering the establishment I was greeted very warmly by a young man who calls himself Micah. I asked him how long the business had been in the area and he said 2 years. Micah then proceeded to give me some history on the family business. I asked about some of the items on the menu when he said, "I have a sample coming right up for you." I was impressed and nicely surprised. That was an astute business move for such a young man. There was a another gentleman in the window area of the kitchen, who just happened to be standing near what appeared to be a huge deep dish of peach cobbler. I can't tell you how tempting it was, but all I could think about was sinking my teeth into some good BBQ. - Oh and that it was! Micah handed me a small rib that was just the perfect portion. The sauce was fantastic and the meat was very tender and juicy. The smoke flavor came right on through. I ordered the Rib dinner which came with two sides, I chose the collard greens and the mac and cheese. The collards were the best I have had at any BBQ restaurant! A young woman name Sarai relieved Micah and she too was just as friendly and nice. I took several to go menus and could not wait to get to my car and dig in. I grew up in Rialto, IKE Mob, but at 19 had the pleasure of moving to the east coast and the south for military service. That pleasure of living coast to coast opened my eyes to a lot of culture. In that culture the true blessing was my experiences with food! With that said, I have experienced legit BBQ. I stand by the statement that the best BBQ is served on paper--if you've been to Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Memphis, etc you know exactly what I'm talking about. Having tried out multiple spots throughout SB County, even into LA, I've been let down more times than I've enjoyed. So many places claim to put their foot in it, but actually completely missing the mark on their smoked and grill meet, as well as completely bombing the side orders. As a lover of BBQ, having gone to southern BBQ competition, and LOVING soul food, I can really say that for BBQ in CA (in my experience so far), this place takes the prize. Now, I am not claiming it to be the best, but I am claiming it be LEGIT! I had the beef tips, Louisiana green beans, baked beans, and the peach cobbler. So, now to my brief thoughts and constructive criticisms on what I tasted. The beef tips were very fresh and tasty. I enjoyed them. Flavor was decent, I think a different rub could possibly be used OR throw them on the grill a bit after tossing in BBQ sauce (but I understand the service issues with that). I was hoping for a bit more sticky and less runny. BUT, I whole heartedly enjoy them. The Louisiana green beans were pretty good, flavor was on point but the only thing I missed was just a hint of spice/heat for my pallet. Now, the baked beans, woh!!!!!! I'm a fan of simple baked beans that aren't over seasoned and over BBQ drenched. These baked beans are subtle and perfect. I absolutely loved them. I'm going to lightly bring up the peach cobbler, as I had to try it as I'm a fan but to be honest I wasn't impressed. I don't think it's the fault of them, it's just after sitting in the cabinet and heating up, just lost it's impact. Oh, and I forgot, I had their slushy, all I can say is for sure get a mixed one. On point! Overall though, I truly enjoyed the food and will be back to try out more of what they have to offer. I think what's also notable to express is the experience with the staff. Whom I assume is the owner, what an amazing small business owner who really makes you feel like family. If anything, besides enjoying the food, simply based off the level of premium customer service which is lacking nowadays, they truly hold old school standards respecting and appreciating the paying customer. Drove past this place today and decided to give it a try since I've been looking for a new fish market. As soon as I walked in and saw the staff, I knew the food would be good. I ordered the catfish lunch special with a side of fries. The fries were BOMB. Perfectly seasoned. The catfish pieces were fried perfectly, well seasoned and large. I will definitely be back. I didn't realize how small this place was. It's pretty much To-Go only. I was disappointed to find out that some stuff on the menu they were out of.. Damn.
