It's obvious they don't need my business because they could care less about us being here. I'm scouting orchards to take wedding guests to this fall. Even though this place is deserted they wouldn't let me see what amenities they have without paying admission to the play area. So since I don't know what they have, I guess we can rule this one out. They gave us very small ice cream dips. Extra star because they have Ashby's Sterling which is one of the best. I guess what turns me off so bad is that all the employees basically ignored us and continued their phone and personal conversations. Didn't say hello or ask if they can help us or if we wanted to know anything about the orchard/mill/vinyard. Just got a shout "you have to go out the way you came in". No problem! $20 for a bucket of sweet cherries (average is six pounds, we crammed almost ten in ours - yes, we weighed it afterwards and asked what the average was). We picked cherries this year for various baked goods, like pies and cobbler and whatnot. absolutely delicious. they also have a small petting area, a playground, and other fun stuff for the kids in your group. (ok, even the "big kids" like us who still think we are five, haha). the place is huge. good family fun. 5 stars, definately. read more

Most horrible staff. Old, cranky ladies. My dad went was looking for apples inside the apple room and the lady behind the counter said (not to us but loud enough for us to hear), " I'm sorry that man just walked right in front of you," she was speaking to customers getting something from behind the counter. Um sorry that there were no clear signs that said we could walk down the apple counter to pick up a bag of apples. My dad was just looking for apples for me, his daughter, whom he hasn't seen in 2.5 years. Also the lady we bought cider from was clearly not happy to be there either. The only reason it has two stars is because the cider and doughnuts are good. Staff is beyond terrible. Management is poor. No clear signs for lines or direction. Will not be coming back. read more

Good doughnuts and cider. However, I'm surprised that your business closes its registers right at 6pm! During hard times, you would think you want to generate as much revenue as possible. You have a full orchard of people and you close the register right at 6, not a minute later. I was enjoying my cider and right at 6 I asked to pay for about $100 in mum's, pumpkins and other decor, but the attendant said sorry I already closed the register. Heaven forbid you think outside the box to find a way to sell your merchandise. Very sad! This place is a rip off. We went to buy a pumpkin the sign said medium pumpkins $5 til you went to pay and then they said they were $10. We said we would show them the sign and they sent an employee out to take it off the wall. This is false advertising and highly illegal. This morning I drove 30 minutes to the orchard. As an adult the only two things I wanted to do while I was at the orchard was feed the animals in the petting zoo and eat some donuts. As I stepped up to purchase the filled cone full of animal food, I was told that I have to go to the admission office to get my hand stamped... When I went there they wanted me to pay $10.50 as if I was going to participate in the ten "attractions" that were including in this fee. In my head, all I could think was that this place wanted me to pay $10.50 to pay $1.50 to feed the animals. There are too many Cider Mills/Orchards in this area to be that greedy Westview! read more

This place could be fun for a while day for the family, We did not officially go into the petting zoo and the greater parts of this Farm but can tell it would be entertaining. It's neat to go in the Barn see then machines work with the apples, the Fudge house and separate baking house is nice to but all three locations sell the same stuff. I wish we had more time to look around but I would recommend this place to try out for yourself! read more

I won't dispute all of the kudos that Westview has garnered from previous reviews. I mean, quite honestly, this is a fun place for the family and the doughnuts are outstanding in any season and the pies are amazing and the varied activities will keep you entertained for a nice long visit. And if you could hear me actually saying this, then you'd pick up on the monotone pitch in my voice and the slight bitterness woven into the words. Yes, I'm bitter damnit, even if most of their apples are not. In the words of the spaniard Inigo Montoya, "Let me 'splain ... no, there is too much ... let me sum up". Our first visit to Westview was about 8 years ago (give or take) and the five of us entered for $6.00 each and we got to pet the animals, go through the scary house, maneuver the corn maze, climb the hay bales and for an additional small fee, pick the apples. The trip concluded with some purchased pies and jams and whatnot and it cost a reasonable amount ... certainly one that we all felt was worth the experience. One season later we called to find that admission had gone up to $8.00 ... and we were ok with that. The lines to get into Westview served as notice that people were ok with paying for a fun, quality outing. A couple seasons later ... $11.00 each, and all of the "extras" in the place were separate fees ... You want to pet a sheep? Cha-ching. Oh, what's that? You'd like to let the kids run through the corn maze? Cha-ching. Today, admission per person is closer to $15.00 and it includes ... well ... it includes walking through the gates I guess. Everything you do past "entering" Westview is going to cost you. I attempted to tie my shoe after noticing the laces dangling uselessly at the sides of my foot and was told that it would be 3 dollars. (I'm kidding obviously although if my shoe does come untied once inside Westview in the future, I will definitely hesitate and look around for anyone with an employee nametag and a changebelt) Deb called the other day and was told picking cherries was included in admission (not true) and it ended up being, after admission, an additional $6.00 per person for a small basket ... anything above and beyond 2 pounds was going to ... you guessed it ... cost extra. Granted, employee Michelle was accommodating and offered freebies to make up for the misunderstanding, but we just can't shake the feeling that it's become less about "experiencing" Westview and more about being able to "afford" Westview. The same family of 5 that spent 60 or 65 dollars at this orchard now spends two-and-a-half times that. A five-star place with one-star practicality ... thus the 3-star rating. read more

The reviews about them forcing you to buy more than you want is true. What a terrible way to run a business. Family of 6 with two kids under 5 were forced to pay for an entire bushel that we didn't want, almost walked out. Then once we rode out to the orchard, the apples were almost nonexistent. And the guy who oversees the apple tree lanes was a complete Richard and yelled at us for walking down a lane without a white sign. So we were forced to buy more than we wanted, and then in search of apples to fill our bags we were humiliated by the worker. WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. Thanks for trying to make amends Katrina. But I'm referring to the new tactic of requiring a specific amount purchased based off of number of pickers. Your orchard has been using bags for a number of years now. Last year we were able to purchase a half bushel with 8 of us, this year forced to purchase a full bushel with only 6. We were doing it for the kids, not to save on the cost of apples. And btw, isn't that the point of an orchard to cut out the middle man and buy direct from the source? We have been to about a dozen different orchards and the staff here just don't have a welcoming attitude you have to pay a entrance fee and ride a wagon to get to the apples and I had back surgery and the bouncy wagon was not a good option. We like walking around and just enjoying the orchard. The donuts didn't taste fresh and cider was not very good. read more

Extremely disappointed with this cider mill. We came out to their location, about an hour from our house, based on the information from their website. Our kids were especially looking forward to the maze advertised on the site. When we arrived, everything appeared closed up. Not wanting to leave empty-handed, we went to buy donuts and cider. The person working the counter barely acknowledged me. She was more concerned about getting a pizza order correct for a corporate party they were hosting. When we asked about the maze and other activities, all she could say was that she wished the website was more up to date. No apologies, just a shoulder shrug. Very disappointing. The winery is nice but completely dragged down by the other parts of the operation. Hopefully it turns around. read more

I have lived in metro Detroit my whole life and visited many apple orchards however I visited Westview for the first time this past weekend. I absolutely loved it and will return in the coming years. I love frequenting apple orchards/cider mills in the fall but hate how crowded they can get. Westview was not crowded at all. I came with 15 other extended family members and there was plenty of space for us to eat donuts and drink cider - which were both very good. The workers in the orchards were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is great and there is a lot for kids to do. read more

The winery is just adorable upstairs and the love music is so fun!! Katrina (one of the owners) is just sparkly and fun!!! I think this is the perfect place for an upscale barn wedding or small party. And it is all decorated with sunflowers right from their garden during fall! The frozen cider sangria we had was amazing. It was a bit pricey, but the ingredients were fresh from their farm so it's understandable to be a little more than any other kind of generic type of bar. Plus they serve their donuts and flips upstairs! Love it!!! read more

I went to a shower at this venue recently. Yikes the bathroom is down 18 plus stairs and across the parking lot! Is it even legal for a commercial business not to have a bathroom when you have so many people? If you are wearing nice shoes to attend an event here, don't! They have gravel parking lots that are dangerous to walk on in heels! My friend's event was lovely but they price gauged her on everything they provided and it ended up costing her more than what she had anticipated. The beverages were in teeny plastic glasses and they cleared up the dessert table before anyone could go back for seconds! I would never use them as a venue. read more

We had choices or where to go for u-pick apples today but decided to try Westview. Parking was a challenge but we got settled and walked the distance to get in line for u-pick apples. We did the large bag for $27 and waited in line for the tractor ride out to the orchard. We rode out and got off and we're told where we could go and which rows were pick today. I was surprised that there were only about 5 or six rows "open" and they were on polar opposites of the orchard, but we set out nonetheless for the adventure. We walked through the rows and walked past empty after empty trees. Thinking if we just went farther we would find apples, we continued 5-8 min walk down each row. In the first 2 varieties we never did find apples. We did eventually almost fill our bag but found in the end we were simply trying to find any apples as opposed to feeling we were picking the varieties we wanted. Super disappointed. It was also hard to see rows and rows of trees that didn't have signs, meaning we couldn't pick from there. We had fun because we had a good group, and it was a beautiful day, but I felt cheated and robbed and we won't be back. In fact, we planned to get cider and donuts and other goodies but left instead and went to Buddy's to eat. Didn't want to give them anymore or our money. read more

I'm looking for a negative stars for this place . called ahead and asked if they had fresh picked strawberries they said yes they look beautiful we just have a few left. I drove the half hour to get there today and they had strawberries in those green cardboard containers. I asked her when they were picked and she said either yesterday or this morning. I ended up bringing 3 containers home. I got them home and began to wash and slice. There is no way these are fresh. Insides pale white flavorless and artificial tasting. They lied and ripped me off. I agree with the other reviewers who describe price gauging. This place has the feel of the worst tourist attractions charging as much as possible and providing as little as possible. Example: a disabled mother not allowed to accompany family members -- each paying 9 dollars for small quart of picking- to watch. Not even allowed past gate. Well beyond rude and inconsiderate and into realm of cruel discrimination. WHat ethical business either demands a fee from the handicapped for an activity they are unable to do or bans them from premises. Shameful. Go a bit further down the road to Blake's. The whole family can pick (or just watch) and then you pay by weight as you leave. Much better experience and price. read more

We will never ever come back to this place; I will definitely try another orchard. They let you pay additional fees, without advising you that the trampoline you paid for is ONLY opened for FIVE minutes , can you believe it , five minutes . I returned to the front desk ; they refused to refund me anything. It cost me $16.00 , for FIVE MINUTES,,,,,, what a rip off. , I asked her that we were never advised. The manager's answer was : that from now on they will advise clients. She admits that it was their falt , and at the same time, she refused to refund me "at least " portion of that money. You know what: it's not about the money. We can deal with this kind of loss, but it's the principal of the matter: it is not fair for them to take our money, and not adivse us that they close the trampoline for 15minutes to half hour , and reopen it for FIVE minutes. I found this very very very ridiculous, specially when you have two little kids who want to play , by the time you take the kids' shoes off , and let them start playing , the five minutes is already UP . We used to go to this place at least once a week , so my kids can enjoy the animals. This time we decided to experience the other stuff at the orchard, and we had a very bad experience . Playhouses, ships, castles, trains and slides for all ages, hay rides to and from pumpkin picking, Apple picking and a corn maze. Donuts are delicious and not small at all like most cider mills. I was disappointed in this Cider Mill/Orchard. While I agree it's good for children 10 and younger, I do think it's ridiculous that adults have to pay $9 to get in. Clearly there is NOTHING for adults to do besides eat and we're already paying separately for that. SO SAD! This needs to be rated pricey $$$ now. We used to love this place about 3-4 years ago. It was clean, cute, plenty of activities for the kids with the playground, slide, pony ride, hay rides, etc. They even had two huge in-ground trampolines surrounded by sand so kids could not get hurt badly if they fell off. They split the groups by age and size and had a limited number of kids per timed session, to avoid overcrowding and less potential for serious injury. They had a cute building that was a candy store and ice cream shop, the Grill on the Hill with good food. Fast forward to 2017 - a sunny Sunday in October - prime apple season. We paid $42.50 entry for two adults and two kids...OUCH! The 'Grill on the Hill' is closed, replaced by food trucks in the parking lot. The cute Ice Cream & Candy Shop is closed. Their apple/cider/donut market charges $10.50 for a HALF gallon of cider! They replaced the two in-ground trampolines with ONE large out-of-ground trampoline that they let everyone from BIG high-school students and larger younger kids jump on right next to little, tiny toddlers! And there is no time limit or limit to the number of kids allowed on there at the same time! A huge injury liability! I saw a teen boy larger than my husband, jumping around while next to a toddler that could not be older than two years old! The men's and women's restrooms were closed (4 stalls total) and they only had two, filthy porta-potties out front for everyone. One had a urinal that was plugged up and filled all the way! Ew!! I only saw two other potties in the area way off by the slide area. Clearly not enough for a big crowd. The grounds looked unkempt, everything looks run down compared to a few years ago. This is very sad. It used to be reasonably priced and a very well-maintained place. I can see them closing very soon if they don't find a way to bring back the charm they used to have. I wonder if the people running it now, really understand what a gold mine they COULD have if they managed the business better. Such a shame to see it decline. We certainly won't go back based on the current prices and state of their operations. read more

When a staff member (grumpy woman) unpleasantly yells at you from across the cider mill in front of every guest because your dog jumped out of the car and was standing in the parking lot. With no idea dogs weren't permitted. Plus, we are more than understanding if not permitted but the way in which we were yelled at was an awful beginning to our first visit at Westview Orchards. My entire family went here two weeks ago for our annual trip, as always we were nothing but pleased! I cannot say enough about this place from the recycled tire everywhere (including the playground instead of wood chips) to the amazing doughnuts and prices. Westview has had the same prices for years while others continue to raise their prices, they have plenty of staff to help and make sure everyone is safe. I am especially touched by the fact that Westview is possibly THE most welcoming to special needs children and adults. You do not find this everywhere and I have to mention it as my nephew falls into this category. There is so much to do here that it is well worth the entry fee. The doughnuts are not only reasonably priced, they are soft and delicious. They always make sure enough staff is working so no matter how long the line is you never have to wait long. LOVE IT and we will be back next year. Thank you for a great experience every year! read more

Group of friends and I went to this cider mill for our cider mill adventure. Price was a little high but it was well worth it. Great cider and donuts, people were friendly and there was plenty to do. Loved their corn maze design and prizes for finishing the trivia. They had baby animals we could go in and play with, so that was cool. Had an amazing experience in their winery. Very friendly, accommodating people who served us. Many cool places to take pictures. Definitely coming back. read more

Despite growing up about a mile from this orchard, I had never been there before today. Wow what a great choice for a beautiful Sunday afternoon! I was really hoping to pick apples while we were home for a visit and I really, really wanted cider mill doughnuts which are hands down the best doughnuts on earth. We got there and there was a line out the door of the little shop - good sign. We opted for the small bag of "u-pick" apples which included the petting farm, really cool playground, and a ride on the wagon out to the orchard to pick apples. They said that Halloween is usually the end of their season but with the weather so nice this weekend they opened up for one more weekend. Out in the orchard they had a whole bunch of varieties to pick from, Gala, Braeburn, Fuji, Red Delicious, and a few others we didn't see the signs for. There were a lot of apples on the ground but still plenty on the trees. After cramming our bag full of apples we did a little shopping - doughnuts of course included. They tasted like heaven dipped in cider. Also a jar of honey from the orchard hives. Fun for the whole family! read more

But it's the same thing every time: go in and wait forever, even when there isn't a line, and then have the sales clerk at another register call the person behind you in line. Don't waste your time. My whole family stood in their 45 minute long U-pick line just to find out that for a group over 5 you have to buy a bushel (160+ apples). If that's the rule then fine but post it at the start of the line! We wasted our whole afternoon in line just to get right back in the car and go to another orchard down the road. So many orchards/cider mills to choose from but we decided to try this one out for the first time as a family. It certainly has a lot to do for the kids but comes with a price tag. A little disappointed that it's $9 per person and parents are charged as well. If you do everything that it includes it's not a terrible price but my kids are still younger and we couldn't get to everything and/or they just wanted to play on the playground. A very pricey family day if you also want cider and donuts. There are several other places you can go for about the same thing for less or free, so we probably won't be back anytime soon. read more

I will never go back to Westview Orchards. My family and friends (8 adults and 8 children) arrived early as the website states they open at 8:00. They did not open until 10:00 and I did not receive an apology or explanation as to why the website is incorrect. Next, as we were waiting for the orchard to open, a girl came out and stapled a notice to a bulletin board. The notice indicated that many of their crops were damaged in a hail storm in July. There was a lot of info on the notice describing what hail is and how the crops were damaged, but it was not clear to me if the apples were still good to pick and eat. As such, I asked the cashier about the notice and she had no idea what I was taking about. When I asked her if she could ask someone that may know, she pointed to a lady standing near the entrance. Instead of answering my question, the lady pointed to the sign by the register and informed the cashier that she was aware of the notice posted. When I again asked the lady my question about picking apples, she replied with a rude tone "yes, you can pick them, the apples are just freckled". When I apologized and said the sign was not clear to me and I just wanted to confirm she again replied with a rude tone " I tried my best...guess I get a C minus." Apparently, she wrote the sign. I had no idea. I was outraged at the woman's tone. I was annoyed that they opened 2 hours later than what is provided on the website. Finally, almost all of the apples are bruised and damaged due to the storm. I am sorry that this occurred to their crop; however, I expect better customer service, especially from management. read more

This is our second visit to Westview Orchards; the first experience was in late August and each of us picked a small bag of peaches, got some really great pictures of our granddaughter picking peaches, and enjoyed watching her play in the fantastic play area. All in all, one of the best days I have had at an orchard EVER! With this said, you must remember that the time of the year was off season and the expense was minimal. Now for our second visit. Our great fall day started with all of us (including our 28 month old granddaughter) paying full price for a day of fun on the farm. Okay, I get it, it's a day of fun with our granddaughter and that is priceless. And what's a day at the orchard without a photo shoot in the pumpkin patch? This can't be done without an additional cost for the wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch. I still am okay with this; it's a beautiful fall day, there's been a smile on every ones faces since we arrived, we've had a great lunch at the Grill on the Hill, and had some of the best cider and donuts we've had in a long time. Smiles and happy times. We hop on the wagon, make the trip out to the pumpkin patch, grab some pretty cute pix of the search for the perfect pumpkin, load the 4 medium size pumpkins we selected on the wagon, and make the trip back up to the farm to pay for our pumpkins. This is where I feel like people are getting ripped off. Our 4 pumpkins cost approximately $70!!!!! Oh come now. They are just pumpkins; nothing special, just pumpkins. $70 bucks....They weren't even huge pumpkins. We may be back next year (and maybe not), but we won't be purchasing our pumpkins from this orchard. Again, we had a great time, up until the pumpkin experience. If you go, make sure you have lots of cash available. read more

Took a group of seven, including three kids, to pick strawberries. They make you pay up front before you pick, a minimum of $5.00 per person, so in our case $35.00. Only when you get to the field do you realize that it's been thoroughly picked over. One hour later, after scouring the rows for the few, small remaining berries that are ripe and not crushed, bug-eaten or rotten, they drive you back to the store to weigh what you picked. Final result: $23.00 of berries, for which we paid $35.00 (no refunds allowed). When we complained they told us it was our fault for not bringing the lack of berries to their attention sooner, and offered to take us to another field of picked-over berries to try to gather a few pounds more. Sorry, we already paid a $12 premium to pick through scraps, not interested in doing it again. It used to be you paid for what you picked at a certain rate per pound. Now the desire to make a buck drives places like this to treat their customers even worse than field laborers. Unbelievable. read more
