This location is quite different from the Rochester location alittle less building and the service is a lot less hectic but just as good. The donuts are always super fresh. They have so many different options from ice cream, pies to cider to hot drinks. This place came along way since I've been a kid from options. I always love taking my little ones here to explore the back yard and eat some hot donuts always good family bonding at any of yates locations. We went quite a few times over the summer and into the fall. Their summer desserts are exquisite!! The ice cream is great, but the donut desserts are where it's at. We tried the donut bread pudding, the caramel apple donut sundae, and the frozen cider. They were all great! Can't wait for it to reopen next summer. read more

They only have one size for the warm cider. We grabbed a raspberry and an apple turnover and a 2 pack of cinnamon sugar donut. $13.25. Took a walk through their market place as well. The mulled cider is just warm and isn't too bad. The raspberry and apple turnovers had a nice crust to them, not too doughy and lots of sugar all over and in each bites too. The raspberry and apples were thinly filled, but tasted decent. The cinnamon sugar donuts were not so warm, but were soft at least. The donuts weren't too bad. This magnet made me laugh for whatever reason. Not great that someone vandalized their bathroom and thus they are closed to the public. Just outhouses available is all. :/ read more

Went into the store today to buy a half gallon of cider. After the cashier had already run my card, I looked at the bottle and it had an expiration date of TOMORROW. I asked him if they had another that was good for longer. They had like 20 half gallon bottles in the case and they all expired tomorrow. Needless to say, I was extremely upset and walked out. This is a total rip of at nearly $10 for a half gallon. Won't be coming back again. I'd skip this place and choose one of the many other options around town. read more

This location is NOT the actual cider mill location, but rather one store within Canterbury Village in Lake Orion that carries Yates products. I love this place because it's closer to me than the original Yates Cider Mill, so when I'm jonesing for a cup of cider / cider slush or a few donuts and a gallon of cider or something, I can quickly stop here to pick all that up without dealing with the potential headache of lines and traffic getting to the actual cider mill. This location is just a short walk from the Canterbury Village parking lot and every time I have gone, I have never seen a line for it regardless of the time of day or week. Definitely check before you go though, because this store sometimes has weird hours! It's a nice ambiance here as well because Canterbury Village feels, in essence, like a tiny Frankenmuth as well. So, if you've got the time, walk around the village while enjoying your cider & donuts, popping into whatever stores tickle your fancy for a fun little adventure. But certainly don't be experiencing the majesty of the actual cider mill, with all its family friendly activities and apple trail/creek that you can walk up and down alongside it as well. read more

I've heard that Yates is one of the more tourist trap type mills, with huge crowds and long waits, but this mill store was a delight. I was able to walk right in, get piping hot cider doughnuts and cold cider, and walk right out with no delay whatsoever. First cider doughnuts I've had here in Michigan, and these were such a treat. I could easily eat a half dozen in a go, though restrained myself. Microwaved for 15 seconds the next day they tasted perfectly fresh and delightfully fresh and light. Not bad. A little surprise of a cider mill being open out of season. I was really happy to walk in and see everything I'm normally able to enjoy in fall, there for me to have in mid-July. Got a dozen cinnamon donuts, half gallon on cider, even got a few pastries, and mini crumb pie, and some donut bread pudding (which I HIGHLY recommend. Cinnamon, sugar, fluffy, warm..... DELICIOUS). Awesome location, in and out on a Saturday afternoon. Highly recommend if you're looking for a cider mill fix in the middle of the year. This is a small location and NOT the actual mill. The first time I went to Yates cider Mill happened to be when I was craving a spiced apple cider with my friend. We looked up the times for cider mill's on yelp and we're bummed to see that most of them were closed (it was past 5pm. I had a late craving!). We happened to notice that this location was open and decided to stop by. I was so happy to see all the choices that were available. We could get all types of ciders (hot or cold), Ice cream, and donuts. The best part about all of this was that there was practically no line at all. When I first came to Michigan for school, everyone told me that I had to visit the actual mill. I did, and it was really crowded, but the donuts and cider were worth it. However this place gave me the cider I wanted without the crowds! That's a win win on my end. The area is very clean and welcoming. There were games for us to play while we had our drinks too. I just loved how peaceful it was. The second time I came here, I brought my boyfriend who was visiting from California. We don't really have big cider meals or shops in California (at least not that I'm aware of in SoCal), So he was very surprised. I had him order the Spiced cider as well And he liked it a lot. He said it was better than a pumpkin spice latte (overrates tbh). Long story short: clean, warm, and satisfies your cravings without the crowds (even at a later hour too). The only con to this place is that it is extremely hard to find, especially at night. Both times that I went we had to drive through this church entrance and up the hill which had a Barbwire fence. We made it safely but more signs need to be put up or at least some lights (Michigan is much more dark than California and has wayyyy fewer street lights so maybe we aren't used to it). I took a star off just for the anxiety and fear we got driving to this area, but other than that I can't complain about much! read more

Yates at Canterbury Village always delivers! Their donut sundae, if you have never tried it, is the best thing EVER! Cinnamon donut, vanilla ice cream or frozen custard, cinnamon, and caramel...YUM! We also order pies every Thanksgiving from Yates and they are always a hit with our family. We always get the Pumpkin Pie and the Apple Crisp Pie. I've also used Yates for my work and ordered a massive amount of regular and cinnamon donuts for some events and they always are given to me fresh. I really like this location because it is open all year round in the Canterbury Village. It's nice to sip hot cider, eat donuts, and walk around and look at the lights! I love their hot ciders and cinnamon donuts (plain and powdered sugar are OK if you like those but I prefer the cinnamon). Yates at Canterbary Village is my favorite. Have tried different ice cream sundaes, but the one I always come back to is the donut sunday, its pretty delicious, but you cant go wrong with any of their combinations. I also love to order my Holiday pies from Yates. The caramal apple pie is to die for and my husband always insist on getting the pumpkin pie too, I dont eat pumpkin pie, but he seems to love the job Yates does. Every year I brave the tremendous lines and crushing crowds at Yates' home base to obtain that most splendid of Michigan treasures, worthy of any foreign potentate's ransom: cider doughnuts and cider. Who among us cannot love the sensation of sugar crumbling against our lips or the sweet, tart flavour mixed by a secret blend of spices upon our tongue? Certainly not me. But I loathe the prospect of the zoo-like parking lot, the sluggish line creeping forward in the beating sun, or the carnival atmosphere with none of the entertainment and all the ghoulish horrors of navigating around people failing to pay attention because they zone out into cider bliss. Since I work 9 to 5, those mid-afternoon autumn jaunts when no one else is around simply don't happen. So here's my little secret ahead with context given: sneak off to Canterbury Village, a literal ghost town through primetime cider season. Formerly with an outpost in Great Lakes Crossing, Yates expanded into a full facility with restaurant-like seating and a functioning bakery bar serving up fudge opposite the doughnut and cider factory. Canterbury's abundant parking and proximity to Great Lakes mean the trip isn't much longer, but the experience is infinitely better. Eager diners can actually sit inside or park on a bench outside to admire the Tudor architecture. Prompt delivery of the old favourites -- sugared doughnuts or plain in waxed bags, cider slushies, and of course a quart of cider itself -- are standouts. Traffic meanders past jams and jellies from around the state, and just try to resist the sample station with blackberry cider jelly or apple cinnamon preserves. I'm going to cut out from the cider mill experience to come directly here to get my stash at the start of the season or towards the end. Yates cider mill on Avon rd. Rochester Mi. Tuesday 11 am, lines not too long, service very quick. Most All customers practicing social distancing and wearing masks as were staff. Nice atmosphere. Staff pleasant, patient and polite including fudge shop. No powder sugar doughnuts-not sure why. Plain and cinnamon sugar good. Other Apple baked products and cookies available. Only disappointment is the double-crust apple pie. The top crust is a cut out circle to fit, laid on top, then baked. VERY slight flakiness in flat top crust and pretty light on the cinnamon. Noted this last yr and was puzzled. It is not theIr old double crust and also pretty expensive in comparison to other brands. Have not tried the other two varieties. Will not buy this particular pie again. read more

Went to Canterbery today and the line was to the street. I ordered a dozen with 6 cider donuts and 6 cinnamon and got all cinnamon.
