Do NOT use this moving and storage company. They were once regarded as the best "white glove" option in town. No more. They "donated" many of my valuable items entrusted to them to store and then wouldn't do anything to go through their insurance or repay me. As an update, I want to say that management reached out to me, listened to and took my complaints and concerns seriously, and made things right. I have been assured that procedural changes have been made that will prevent after-the-fact upcharges from being assessed. Wetzel used to be a good company (I used them a decade ago), but they were a total disappointment for my most recent move in March. (They were apparently sold during the pandemic.) They gave a low bid that they then greatly exceeded, broke a glass shelf, left items behind, didn't wrap my artwork as I had requested. They also tried to add $400 to my charge without telling me; when I challenged the bill, they said it was an adjustment because the on-site guy had miscalculated overtime. But the contract didn't permit such an adjustment, and when I challenged it, my credit card company backed me up. If you use them, check your final bill because it's clear they think they can just charge more after the fact and hope you don't notice because you've just moved and are too busy to watch every bill coming in. read more

I had a difficult move from a residence I lived in for 15 yrs. These men came in & packed, labeled & loaded everything in record time. They were careful not to break or scrape your furniture. We hired them to move our daughter. We could not have been happier. They wrapped the bed and frame helped box everything and moved it cleanly. It was a small one day job. The two guys were really nice and efficient. Great job. We highly recommend them. Just had the occasion to use Wetzel and sons again. Still same fantastic service. Trucks are impeccably clean! The two man team had a smile on the whole grueling 8 hours from loading to unloading. Edwin and Lupe were great. I just used Wetzel & Sons for my move this week and they were fantastic! Sal and Joey showed up on time and got to work immediately. I was moving out of a big home I shared with my Ex, so there were very specific things to move and not move - Sal and Joey only needed to be told once and they did everything perfectly. They both really hustled and got me moved into my new place fast. All my belongings were very well taken care of and they did not complain about anything, especially when it came to my one VERY heavy piece of furniture they had to carry up a flight of stairs with tight corners. Sal and Joe were hard-working, professional and friendly. I felt like they were my dad and uncle helping me move and that gave me the best feeling! I've had the unfortunate situation of needing to move twice in a matter of three months due to a flea infestation in the home I lived in for only 2 months. I used Wetzel for the first move and another company for the second as their rate was 50% lower. Wetzel and Sons was professional, on-time, and did the job with no unnecessary frustration on my end, save some scratches they left on my floor that they removed promptly after I called. Wetzel over-delivered on professionalism and most importantly, packing my sensitive glassware and furniture. Not a scratch on anything and their packing skills were impeccable! There is one person at Wetzel I want to identify by name as he simply was outstanding in trying to get me the moving date I wanted and attempting to accommodate every request: Justin. Not only did he work tirelessly to help me, he was kind and had a bright sunny disposition on top of it. Thank you Justin. To compare, the other moving company broke three pieces of my furniture, two without repair, and carelessly packed two pieces of glassware together in wrapping clearly resulting in breakage. Some fragile pieces they simply threw in a box without any wrapping whatsover! Not only this, they were unprofessional while moving my things as I needed to tell them on 6 different occasions about items they were leaving behind. I've learned the lesson on "you get what you pay for". IF I have to move again, and I really hope that doesn't come any time soon, it's Wetzel for me! read more

Horrible experience. Family had used them before, this time a NIGHTMARE!!! Lost things. Broke things. Delivered our personal items from storage to a rental house we no longer lived in and that was sold. Our belongings sold with house and disappeared!!! Paid quote that included insurance in advance - during move given piece of paper to initial and sign that denied insurance. So now they refuse to compensate us for the thousands upon thousands of our personal belongings that they lost. Completely incompetent. Totally negligent. Try Russell instead. I only wish I knew to call them years ago . The lead person on my move yesterday was Angel. He was amazing and each of the six men who moved me were so professional and fast , unlike other movers . I have used all the big moving companies , and then independent ones and I urge you to use this company over anyone else . I have nothing to gain by writing this . This moving company claims to be "white glove" and they are very expensive (much more than anyone else) because of this. I spent well over $10,000 (yes that is 10k) for two moves out of my house, into their storage, and then back into my house. First, they under quoted me so on the day of the move they said that they couldn't get it all done. Because I had my tenant moving in the next day, I had to call and complain and then they sent more people which cost me double and overtime. They were also careless with packing but took their time carefully wrapping my bathroom trash bin but other items didn't fair well. We believe that they damaged things while they were packing - then claimed it was already damaged. Um, no it was not, but I guess now you just broke it and placed it into the box. Even though they "take" inventory, we are still missing a vase (maybe they broke it). We suspect they broke and damaged some items and then tried to repair with GLUE so that we wouldn't notice. We went snowboarding and realized my wife's snowboard bindings were both broken and then glued together. GLUED people! Thank god we noticed - we were on a mountain and had to rent new bindings because that is so dangerous and careless she could have gotten hurt -- they were the last ones in possession of the snowboard. Also, a piece of art was damaged but they said it was damaged "already" when they were packed it. Interestingly, they tried to "fix" this "already damaged art" by using super glue! Just something I noticed as I read the word "dameged" on the box. If you didn't do it, why would you even attempt to "fix" it? Also, the glue seems to be the same super glue used on the snowboard bindings. Interesting. There was also one item that was damaged that I had paid extra to box and crate (made for the item) so that it could be handled delicately. They said they would fix this "in house" and that I wouldn't even notice the damage and it would be like new. Great! Okay fine by me. Two months later, they delivered the fix and I was horrified. It was repaired so poorly and was unacceptable - it even looked worse. I spoke with Mike Wetzel (the owner) about it, he kindly offered to replace the broken part, for which he should have - but it took six months and I had to stay on top of it because they took their sweet time probably hoping I would forget. Mike also stopped responding to my email and call inquiries. I guess it is annoying having to come out of pocket for client damages . They also didn't return our 15 moving blankets that we purchased. Suffice to say - it is hard to find good moving companies, I thought I could spend more and have them actually care but, unfortunately, spending extra money doesn't guarantee anything in this case. There are better movers out there. I might recommend them for storage only. Good luck on your move. read more

Just used these guys to move me for the 3 time in 14 years. Each time I've gotten 2-3 other bids. They're usually the mid range. They did such a great job. They were so professional. So friendly and helpful and fast. But they're super busy and I couldn't get the move date i wanted. So had to move a few days later. They were also really good with follow up and checking in before my move date to see if I was on track, needed anything. I was mostly packed when they showed up about 15 min early on my move day. I thought I'd have time to catch up with the stuff but their crew was so fast I was scrambling to finish so they could get it on the trucks before they had loaded my 4+4 house! The estimator was right on the money. Even tho when lead guy showed up in the morning and I took him around, he said he thought they would need more time than was estimated. But he was wrong! They did allow for exactly enough time, trucks and manpower for my move. It was super hot out too and they were just there to help with whatever I needed! They didn't seem put out, or exhausted(which i'm sure they were) or wishing they had a different job. They made me feel like they were there to help ME! Plus they came up with a great solution when a couple pieces wouldn't fit into one room, after trying really hard. So much happier with the revised set up! Im a caterer and I have lots of fridges and freezers full of food and was expecting to get boxes from them to pack the fridge stuff (they said the freezers could stay full!) right before they were done loading. I went out to the garage to get started and one of the guys had already packed out the whole 7 foot fridge! And it was labelled outdoor fridge. Went inside and inside one had already been done. Last time I moved I had friends help me pack most of my stuff and hired Wetzel for 2 days to help me pack. Their packers were amazing. So fast we ended up only needing one day of their packers! . Everything fragile was wrapped perfectly and carefully. Only complaint was last time I moved 5 years ago, I told them to be careful with my very fragile original 55 year old Eames chair. And they did break it. They tried to fix after the move. They came and picked it and took it to be repaired. But it broke again exact same place the second it came back and I never followed up. . Haven't been able to sit in it since. But otherwise great experience and highly recommend! read more

Where do I even begin?! Matt helped my husband and I move into our house in Santa Clarita a couple of years ago, and Wetzel & Sons just helped us move five hours away to the Bay Area. We had zero time to pack, so they not only did the move, but the packing as well. These guys go absolutely above and beyond. They are all so professional, kind, honest, helpful, and hard-working. When we were trying to figure out the best placement of furniture items (our new house is smaller than our old one, because Bay Area), they moved things into different positions so we could see how it would look, and they never complained or made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. My dad came up with us to help unpack, and I was driving him to the airport so he could travel back to SoCal, he kept raving about how amazing the crew was. First, I couldn't have asked for a nicer group of guys to pack and move my two bedroom apartment. Christian and his team arrived on time and they were professional, clean, courteous and efficient. From the moment they arrived, they started working right away without wasting any time. They were careful with all of my belongings and they took the time to wrap each piece of furniture with plastic wrap. For past moves I have packed everything myself, but this time I needed the movers to pack the kitchen, clothes, bedrooms, and office because I was physically disabled. They packed everything at least as well as I would have done it myself. Hands down the best movers I've ever used. Prior to the move Matt came to my apartment to look over my belongings and sent me a thorough written estimate of the costs. He suggested that they pack one day and deliver the next day to save me money by avoiding over-time charges. The estimated move time and the quoted price were dead on. They are honest and don't try to rip you off! The other moving companies that I spoke with only gave me an hourly rate over the phone and said that the packing materials were extra. They wouldn't provide an estimate of the total cost. My husband is in hospice and we had to make short timeframe moves to accomodate a hospital bed and ensure his safety. In addition, the guys she sent, Gregorio and Felix were quick, kind, and efficient and had quite a sense of humor. I have used Wetzel & Sons before... decades ago to move me locally within the SGV. I called several movers to get quotes for my most recent move. I felt really comfortable with Mark - solid communicator regarding the fees associated with what I wanted. I also needed a stress free experience and that is exactly what I got. He sent me a DREAM TEAM of Adam and Santa to pack and move me. I was in my typical form very unready for this. The fellas stepped right in and got to work straight away. The were clearly very skilled packers and understood my wishes to have TLC on the contents of my mothers hutch. They were patient with me at the new place when I asked for strategic placement of all the furniture pieces and boxes. I don't understand why this company has a 1 star review. I recently moved to West LA and a good friend of mine, highly recommended these guys. These guys do it all - moving, packing, unpacking, packaging, and they even cleaned up the mess of boxes and trash. Everyone I spoke to and met was very helpful and patient with my situation. My friend warned me that they get booked up quickly, especially on short notice. But they were able to get back to me and fit me in, within a few hours. All the movers were VERY careful and professional about moving my stuff. Once they got started, they were done in no time. I usually move things myself and it's always a big hassle - typically, I rent a U-Haul. This was the first time I went to a professional moving company to handle it. I really dislike moving... in fact, I HATE it. But for the first time, these guys made tolerable and painless. I would definitely use these guys again. read more
