Big Whataburger fan here. Ordered "the usual" - #5 Combo, a Whataburger With Bacon And Cheese. Waited a long time for the food to arrive. When it did, the fries were good, but my burger was slapped together in ultimate haste: everything on it was in a single pile, including the bacon, pickles, and tomatoes. And the plentiful mustard was not only between the buns, a significant amount was on the outside of the top bun. I spread everything out and the taste was awesome as usual, but... c'mon, build my burger with pride! This is Whataburger! NEVER COME TO THIS LOCATION. IVE BEEN TO HUNDREDS OF LOCATIONS OVER THE LAST 15 YEARS, AND THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST ONE IVE EVER BEEN TO. 1:30AM, i get to the drive though. There's maybe 5 cars in line with me at the back and i wait about 30 minutes to get to the speaker to place my order. I get to the speaker, and absolutely zero acknowledgment for 15 minutes. I say hello right when i get there, and at around 12 minutes in is when i finally get my first response from the attendant. 3 minutes later i place my order, and at this point its me on deck with two cars behind me, and zero cars in front of me. I place my order and go to the second window. Paying for my stuff and getting my drink goes smoothly, and a few minutes later another worker comes up to talk to the driver through worker with my food in his hand. They talk for a good 3 minutes waving my food around before giving me my stuff, a little annoying but whatever. I don't normally check my bags since Whata is typically very reliable with getting me my correct items. I drive 30 minutes to my hotel, sit down, and notice my order is completely wrong. I give the store a call and politely ask for a refund since I'm not going to drive 30 minutes to the restaurant and back. The worker who answered was condescending and snarky, saying there's nothing they can do unless i come back to the store and he didn't know the corporate number. So basically i paid $18 for someone else's order. Maybe if the employees spent less time messing around and talking with one another and looked inside the bags they filled, they would've noticed that my order that was LABELED ON THE RECEIPT ATTACHED TO THE BAG WAS WRONG. I've been going to the same Whataburger for years, It's near my house on the loop, Hollywood. Here lately, the service has been getting slower and slower. Food is good but usually cold by the time I get it. Not a big fan of cold food. Time to find another burger joint! read more

I have grown up, raised children to adulthood and entered my "older" years on Whataburger! It always had that magical taste, and FRESH buns and Hot, Fresh fries! BUT NOT LATELY! Not sure if this is just how Whataburger operates these days or if it's just this location (south loop aka hollywood), but it might be the absolute worst fast food joint I've ever been to. Soooooo slow and the food is usually cold/old. I used to love Whataburger but this location has made me despise it. I will order through the app and they don't start making the food until I tell them I've arrived. If I select curbside I usually have to go inside and tell them I'm here, then they'll start making my food. If I do drive through I usually get kicked to the secondary line while I wait for them to start making the food. I once left the line and went to Wendy's next door and before I could get a word out about how slow Whataburger is, the person working the drive through said, "get away from wait-a-burger". I just can't believe that a place could be so bad that I decide to write a negative review for the first time in my life while waiting in the drive through for them to get my food. Came in on a Wednesday afternoon to pick up an online order and eat in-store. Restaurant wasn't busy. I had ordered a burger, no regular onion, but with grilled onion. I was given a burger with no onion of any kind. Informed the employees, and the following happened. First employee took the burger and said a new one would be made. Good so far. Second employee, who was making the replacement, remarked, "I usually cook grilled onion. I'll grill it extra dark for you." Third employee asked why I didn't want regular onion and then made an assumption. Also, the employee stated their personal reason for sometimes skipping onion. Fourth employee (non-manager) came out to me and apologized with, "sorry, they shouldn't have talked to you like that." Exactly. Everything could have been resolved quickly instead by saying, "sorry on the mistake. We'll make a new one for you." Period. Hit this location up on a road trip to Texas to order the classic A1 Burger. Oh no! It's discontinued.... That is the only real complaint besides the wait time for a 1 car line having been over 10 minutes. The food was hot and the order preparation seemed to be semi-Covid Friendly. This location has taken the "fast" out of fast food. The first time I came I thought maybe it was an off day. But I've learned today that the reason it's open 24 hrs is because it takes them about that long to get an order out through the drive through. It's located on the interstate so I know it might seem convenient to stop while traveling, but you would have a quicker turn around if you stayed in a hotel and waited for the free breakfast. read more

This is the best whataburger location I've ever been to. The service is outstanding. My boyfriend and I went through the drive through late at night after a long drive from MS and we encountered the most personal drive through employee we've ever met. Like, we would hang out with him if we had the time. We were so impressed that we came back in the morning for breakfast where we met Angela behind the counter. Greeted us as soon as we walked in and took our order. We decided to split a honey butter chicken biscuit. Without asking, we were delivered the sandwich cut in half. It was a little detail, but it went a long way. The food runner was very helpful and personable as well. We wish we would have got the drive through employees name the night before (6/30/22) because he deserves a shoutout. Overall, great food and great humans that work at this location. This place has gone down hill big time (not just this location)! The wait on the drive through here at this location (and others too) is 30 to 40 min. The burgers are not hot and freshly cooked unless you happen to get lucky and they have just Pre-cooked a batch for the stack. They sold to a Chicago Corp some time back. I have eaten Whataburger 20 yrs or so, I just can't understand why things have gotten so bad. When I talk to Mgt. they are willing to make things right but unless you get that done and the Manager tells them to make it fresh you will get a warm to cold hamburger patty. I've seen the grill from the counter and they seem to cook up a number of patties and stack them on a spatula at the end of the grill top several inches above the grill it's self ( The manager told me "they've found that's the best way to do it". Can't get a hot and fresh burger that way. Fresh and hot is what made Whataburger's name, famous, from coast to coast. When the family sold out to some investment corporation in Chicago soon it begin to fail. When and if I go, I expect to get a warm to cold burger, take it home and reheat it in the microwave (I won't eat a cold burger), the fries are cold at that point and micro fries aren't the best. Like most everything these days, don't see it coming back to what it was before the family sold out a few years before the Pandemic came into play. I can say more than not, the window and counter workers do treat me as they should. It must come from the top down to get it ALL right! I feel safe to say "the" Whataburger as we Texans have loved and know for all these years is not the Lone Star Burger any-longer. At least in my book. Do I still go in for one once in a while? Worst whataburger I've ever been to. My burger was cold and tasted off, it was bad enough that I tossed it after a couple of bites. My son ate his and had a couple days of terrible food poisoning. Ordered my food on the App for "curbside" service at 7:15pm. Got confirmation food would be delivered to car between 7:33-7:35. At 7:45 my husband went inside to check on food. At 7:50 a young boy brought the drinks to the car. I told him my husband was inside picking up our food. "Oh, here are your drinks, your order got lost and the manager is making your food now!" At 8:08pm ( reminder food ordered at 7:15pm) my husband was finally handed our "curbside" order. No explanation, no apology, NOTHING!!!! Manager had no response for lack of service.... Never takes less than 45 min to get you order. Once it took 45 min when we pulled up there were two cars in front if us. Last time we went it took 1-1/2 hours. Everything is much smaller. I've eaten here a lot and the service is always great. The food is better than most other Whataburgers that I've eaten at, even though, obviously, they're from the same chain.
