Gross! The woman at the drive through was hacking, coughing and her face was wet with mucus. It was so bad that another women stepped in to take my payment but i was somewhat disgusted and afraid to accept my food that was exposed to the sick woman. Never allow sick people in your kitchen. Receiving 2 stars for the manager's attitude when my husband took our drinks inside to ask for something different as all three of them were flat. The manager argued with my husband, then another gentleman chimed in agreed the sodas were pretty flat. Whataburger food was good, as it usually is. I just don't know why. This is probably the worst Whataburger I have ever walked into. The cook with dreadlocks was not even wearing a hairnet. Not even wearing food preparation gloves while preparing our food. She also proclaimed to be the manager when I asked for management. So if this is the way management at this restaurant prepares food. I will not be spending my money here again. read more

It feels as though service has been gradually going downhill at this location. The last two visits, we were not given items we had paid for (onion rings and fries forgotten from meals) in the drive thru. Decided to try again tonight and sat for ten minutes in front of the drive thru speaker. No one ever came to help us. A long line of cars stretched in front of and behind us. It was another ten minutes until the car in front of us got their food and we could finally leave. So for a total of 20 minutes, no one ever answered the speaker. Save your money. These folks need to get serious about serving better food and giving better customer service. The hash browns were cold, the biscuits were seriously over cooked and hard, gravy was thin and watery. Not worth the money charged!!! The teenager helping at the window needs customer service training! Save your money. Probably the best what's burger I've been to (I'm a born and raised Texan so I've been to a lot.) Very clean and friendly, the employees genuinely seem happy, the owner was working the counter too and came by sometime throughout the meal to ask us if we needed refills. I normally would not rate a fast food place, but due to recent event and the way it was handled by this location and the mgmt, felt it needed to be said. My wife was recently given a gift certificate for two meals at any Whataburger (clearly states this on the letter) for a mistake that was made at a San Antonio location. When we presented this to the athens store, we were told that this location is a franchise and does not comply with something that a corporate owned store would provide. Hmm. Not a good way to maintain business at your location. When you hang your sign out front and it says"Whataburger", then I think you should carry yourself as an upstanding corporation that the company represents, and respect any offer that is awarded by a Whataburger. This was embarrassing, and with as many fast food places in athens, this location better wake up and begin to treat their customers with respect. Sonic is across the street and a brand new Dairy Queen is less than a mile. Hopefully Richard Rejas (manager) gets this message. read more

Ordered a double meat with cheese.Repeated order and she repeated it correctly back to me.Got home: no cheese,almost no lettuce or tomatoes(had to hunt for them) and no mayo,which I specifically asked for. On Sunday April 30, 2017 My Husband and I headed to Athens, Texas to get lunch at Whataburger for 30 volunteers helping to clean up at our Daughter and Son-in-Law's Home that had been hit by tornado in Canton. As all power was off all over Canton everyone was traveling to surrounding towns for Food, Gas and Groceries. I called in route to place order. It was a large order and I told the Manager why so many Burgers and Fries. She said I will help with this I will give You 10% off your order. Then She said no, I will give You 20% off your order. This was an exceptionally generous offer that helped tremendously with the expense our Daughter was out in trying to feed their Friends that came to help them. And, even though cold by the time we got back food was still delicious. Thanks to Manager and the other workers that went out of their way to assist us.
