My wife and I had made the trek to Athens to get her drivers license renewed and decided to make a day of it. After meandering about the square we drove a couple of blocks south and arrived right at noon. It's August, so of course it's warm inside, thought the A/C was running full blast. The folks inside were very friendly. I had ordered the burger and onion rings, while my wife got the chicken strip meal. The chicken strips were large, and the gravy was perfect. She had a four piece order, and could only finish three of the pieces. Naturally, I had to taste too. Very good. As for mine, the onion rings were crispy and crunchy, and easily the best part of the meal. My only disappointment was that my burger was pretty pink. It should have stayed on the flattop a bit longer. We would definitely go back. read more

This place is like a Dairy Queen. The burger was very good though it was small and the price was a bit too much for the combo and I barely got any onion rings and then I figured the combo came with a drink I was wrong, but like I said I would eat a burger here rather than DQ. My wife had the tacos with just meat and cheese and there was barely any meat and cheese DQ usually loads it on, so not impressed. The service at the front counter was very kind and nice, but it also almost took 30 min for us to get our food I was disappointed waiting for so long and paying what I did for such small servings sizes, especially when we were the only ones in the place. The place was clean which was nice. So all this being said I'll give it 2.5 stars but I can't so 3 stars it is. read more

Terrible. Just premade frozen patties cooked badly. The tater tots tasted bad. Both orders were wrong. Cost additional money to correct the orders. Don't waste your time or money. Too many better places to eat in Athens. read more

Benson's is one of the best places to eat in Athens! It's comfort food at its' best! They have juicy hamburgers, onion rings, nachos, tacos and the list goes on and on. The menu board in the drive through is so old you can't read much of it. There are too many items and quality is not a focus.

The burger was tasty. Friend had Cken sandwich and said delicious. My biggest observation was the place is older building and just immaculate clean the day we went. Service was friendly and fast. Definitely worth a trip! read more

After not only messing up our order, they attempted to replace our wrongfully made chicken sandwich by WIPING off the mustard rather than making a new sandwich without mustard. Went in for lunch, not expecting much. Walked in and the place was spotless. The counter, the floor, the tables, the restroom--everything shiny clean. The employees up front were still cleaning things before and after they took my order. The place wasn't empty either...it was lunchtime on a weekday. The food was clearly made just after I placed my order and was served hot. Food very good, it's fast food and doesn't pretend to be anything else.
