People who put in orders over their apps were coming in and getting their food while me and my party waited for one hour before our food was made and hit the table. There were two huge problems with my breakfast and I generally do not like to count that high in the morning before I have chugged at least that many cans of Monster. Unfortunately I was running late this morning and did not have time for my morning courtship with the Monsters in my refrigerator, in fact, my neighbors will let you know I was getting dressed in the elevator on the way down, having effectively mastered the art of multitasking to (a) not make it too awkward, (b) tie my Slytherin tie without a mirror, and (c) talk about the Astros in a chit-chatty neighborly way. So with that premise of being grumpy, very unsugared, starving, and running late already I should have expected a one star experience from far away but it turned out to be a one starrer for other reasons. It is in an awkward location, kind of thrown in behind Jimmy Johns on Westheimer and a stone's throw from the fast food row on Richmond, this big orange dubya is basically like the last chance gas station before you venture into the blackness of the desert at night and the crushing darkness of your soul at the other times of the day. I am certain you have driven by this one on the way back to 59 and you think: "should I soak something with ketchup right now?" Ordinarily the answer is no. Except when the answer is yes, like this morning, because I am useless when I am starving so I needed some go go action tacquito magic to happen in my stomach. If you have had their amazeballs Bacon tacquito you already know how magical it is for something that has Bacon, but not unlimited allyoucaneat bacon that is custom designed to keep cardiologists employed. The problem of the first part: the soda machine has been possessed by a demonic spirit with a childish and angrykid sense of humor that is hell-bent on you not getting your deliciously crisp Diet Dr Pepper to pair with your Bacon. This was the worst Diet Dr Pepper experience ever because it happened to me. And it could happen to you too. Be warned. Problem of the second part: being told to have a blessed day by the cashier. I've been here several times and each time is great! As soon as u arrive, they great you with smiles and my food is always hot and good to go! I've even had a conversation with the manager. This location has been great to me when I work at the Omni Hotel galleria. I love stopping by there almost every day after work and after a while they noticed that I was a frequent customer and one of their managers greeted me with ''Oh theres are favorite customer and gave me some merchandise from Whataburger like some sunglasses! I felt very welcome each and every time I go there and since I transferred to the Westside property I still come all the way back to this location to have some good Whataburger! Worst fast food experience ever. I pulled into whatever and I ordered two honey butter biscuit combos with orange juice. I placed the order at 10:24am. If you have never been there before there are two lines because they get extremely busy. Needless to say I sat in line for 6 or 7 minutes waiting. Not living in Houston anymore, I make it a point to get my Whataburger fix whenever I'm back. I always get the awesome patty melt combo with jalapeños and damn it was gooood!!!! This Whataburger was like the rest, pretty good service and quick turn arounds on your order. Be forewarned, a medium drink means 32oz here. The patty melt was so good, you'll savor every bite. This is the closest Whataburger to me - and I have to say, I'm addicted to the patty melt and breakfast taquitos. This location is hit or miss - with a lot more hits than misses - but occassionally you'll get a cold bag of fries or a sweet tea that tastes like coffee (gross). With this location it seems that it's more about timing - you do NOT want to get caught in the after hours club line. It's bonkers. And doesn't move. Apparently every drunk person loves Whataburger. (Which I totally, totally get.) It's not quite fast food - it does take a bit longer because they prepare everything fresh - but it's worth it. read more
