As the food is made fresh, it actually takes 15-20 minutes. Something to keep in mind. The skewer combo I had was solid, but a bit small on the portion size. Knock 1 star off for lack of value. Served with fries, potato salad, salsa, and cassava. I also had the coxinha (chicken filled croquettes) and kibe com queijo (ground geef adn bulgur wheat croquette with melted cheese). The coxinha were tasty and hit the spot. The kibe was surprisingly mostly just cheese inside. The kibe traditional might be a better option. Wouldn't mind coming back to try more dishes. We chose coconut for a less sweet option -!: it was delicious, super moist and tasty. It's a very rich cake though with all the whipped cream, so you can't eat too large a slice. There were plenty of leftovers, so we pre sliced them and freezer them. They defrost in the fridge overnight and taste so good again the next day. For our meal we ordered two domino arepas (sub "yellow cheese" because they were out of white cheese); Tequenõs and a Venezuelan cheese empanada. It took 30 minutes for the 3 tequenõs, 45 minutes for our arepas, (and they ended up refunding our empanada because they were out of cheese again). No water offered or glasses provided while we waited. I wish we could say our food was worth the wait but sadly it the cheese was cold. The beans were unsalted and unspiced. The arepa itself was thin and crispy (but also needed salt).... or ironically longer on the grill? Thank goodness I added plantains to mine otherwise I wouldn't have eaten it. Truly the worst arepa I've had. I didn't know there was anyone that preferred cold cheese or unspiced unsalted beans. Shockingly bland I don't recommend. I then suggested that we come back to Kitsilano but try Kokomo instead since I had some plant based deals for Kokomo and they sell the same kind of stuff. So we came and used out both my plant based deals. One was a BOGO free deal on summer drinks, and the other was 25% of any Kokomo bowl. My daughter got a Hibiscus lemonade, I got a Spearmint lemonade and we shared a Kokomo acai bowl which had frozen acai, berries, banana, raw granola (house-made), mint and toasted coconut. The drinks weren't bad but I wasn't blown away by them either. They were refreshing and thirst quenching for the hot summer day that it was. Don't think I need to try Spearmint lemonade again though. This was our first time trying and Acai bowl, and we are totally hooked on them now! I wanna learn how to make this at home now. It was so refreshing. Is there anything more satisfying than eating something that's healthy and tastes good too?! I suppose you could also just call it a smoothie bowl.
