We go here every year during our staycation, and checked to be sure we'd be able to rent a bike today to keep our tradition going. Arrived at 6pm and was told they were closed, that they generally close between 5:30/6pm. They make a point to post last outgoing daily rental times online but close early on Fridays/at their discretion. It's just disappointing as my son was really looking forward to riding.

When you rent from wheel fun rentals you pay then your promptly given a simple set of rules/instructions. You're allowed to ride up and down the boardwalk but you can't ride on the pier. Customer service was good, the price was fair and the experience with friends and family was enjoyable. Just a bit of advice for the business. I believe you should invest in some WD-40 and use it on all the rusty chains. That would make the bike riding experience easier and smoother for all customers.

This is the 2nd location I have tried and tbh, it left much to be desired. First of all, parking is a hot mess with all the construction going on right now near the beach. We cruised up and down the street because we couldn't find a way to get down into the beach lot. After some time, we made it down but the lot was closed and so we just followed traffic to get back up and out. Started to look for a meter to park at and figured we would walk down to the pier. It was Father's Day so it was packed. And a quarter only got you 7 damn minutes!! Wth?! Ughh.. so we finally found a public lot next to the motel off Windward. $2 for the whole day, yay!! Didn't expect to be there as long as we were, but glad to have found that lot! Walked down to the pier and finally saw the rental place right at the bottom of the stairs. There was only one girl working and she was busy. The single surreys were once again all rented out and we didn't want to wait 20 min so we just got the deuce coupe. After I paid, she said we had to wait for her to wipe it down. I have to say I thought it was pretty gross that she was wiping down the seats and handle bars with what clearly was a DIRTY microfiber rag and a bottle of some cleaning solution. She had a mask on and was polite, but no gloves. I mean, you would think with this pandemic going on, that "cleaning" the bikes would require oh... idk... maybe some disposable paper towels between customers instead of a nasty dirty rag?! Yuck! We sprayed it down with our own cleaner before we hopped on. The bikes also looked really old and dirty compared to the ones in Huntington Beach. I'm also glad that I bought my daughter her own helmet to use because after seeing how the bikes were cleaned, I wouldn't have wanted her using their loaner helmet!! The bike path itself is very short and it was pretty congested because of the cars. The only nice thing about it was that there were little dessert carts along the way close to the pier. Chamangos, ice cream, shave ice... Yeahhhh... pretty much the highlight of the day was the food. Other than that, it was an okay time. Don't plan to return anytime soon.

Cycle up and down the boardwalk area.

Look for the Wheel Fun Rentals blue and white kiosk by the steps to one side of the Oceanside pier. We paid for an hour long surrey ride at the kiosk and were told to go over to another employee who assigned us a single surrey and told us how to brake/steer, etc. Three adults fit on a single surrey -- the two people on the outside pedal. You will have to leave your ID with the guy in the kiosk. The staff were very friendly. This was our first time on a surrey bike and it was a pretty easy place to try it. You can only go up and down the flat road that runs parallel to Oceanside beach, which only takes about half an hour, so we did it twice and stopped for photos and the restroom. (There are a couple of public beach restrooms along the route). There are some cars and quite a lot of pedestrians and other cyclists, so you have to have your wits about you, but it's fun people-watching. There are cute beach cottages, the ocean waves, sunbathers, tattoos, dogs, sandcastles and other things to look at while you're cycling. During COVID they sanitize the bikes. We wore masks while cycling as you are passing a lot of other people and cyclists. PARKING: We parked at the Oceanside Civic Center for free and walked approx 8 mins to the pier. We did this for a birthday outing and found it a lot of fun and I would try it again in another location. I give it 4 stars in this location as the route is rather short. Search for coupons on-line. Be ready to build up a sweat! Afterwards, you can walk out on the pier or go up into the town of Oceanside to make a day of it.

This place was awesome. We rented the bike for two, (I uploaded a picture) for an hour, for $20. We rode up and down the beach... which at times can get a little scary - as you are are on the street with cars and other people on bikes and walking... but you hopefully just maneuver yourself around them, and it works out :) We ended up only riding for a half hour, I could have went more but the person I was with wanted to stop after a half hour. It can be hard on your legs, if you arent used to exercising I guess... my legs also hurt a little, and maybe they will hurt more tomorrow, but I really enjoyed it! Its a bit hard to steer, with two people, and one handle in the middle, its a bit of an awkward fit, but nothing thats too horrible. The guy working today was very nice and friendly, showed us how to use the bike, adjusted the seats, and off we went! They had other things you could rent like regular bikes, and the carts with seats that held I believe up to 6... SO MUCH FUN!

These guys suck! We went by to see them during the day and they said they stayed open till 7. We got there at 5:30 and they wouldn't give us bikes. I told them the guy during the day promised us but two guys that work there were extremely rude!

Place has reasonable prices. The strip is very short and one hour of rental is more then plenty of time. If they had a 30 min rental that would have been good enough.

Resting and taking in the breath taking views!

Cool looking bike with tons of little issues. It always had a flat, so I learned to change those . And I think i was in the shop once a month getting new breaks. So, I got a chance to get to know a few of the guys. Rob, who is a really chill swarthy young man in his early to mid twenties. This young man named Mark who was a extremely friendly young Mexican man who has moved on to becoming an Emt i believe. Any repair big or small they have completed ASAP, they're always professional and friendly to everyone who walks into those doors. And they are great with communication and calling. With my current Ebike, because the kabbit had a wiring issue and had a little fire, UNDER MY SEAT‍. I returned to Alan's because I knew id get a fair price for a decent bike. Sure enough Rob hooked me up with the Ava Big Sur, literally the first one they built out the box. I love this bike and I cant say enough good things. Well, there haven't been many problems but 3 big ones. This is to be expected because my bike is my transportation. So 365 this bike is on the road. first there was a wiring issue and the owner himself rewired my whole bike (2 year warranty FTW), then this time last year I was having throttle issues so we swapped that out for like 60 bucks, now its the controller which is funny because I told Rob I think the controller needs to be replaced with the throttle (you cant see me but im shaking my fist jk). All these repairs combined the big issue was the wait. If you could imagine suddenly youre walking 7 miles in the rain at 4am to work. But thats not their fault. Sadly they dont have the wearhouse from Indiana Jones so they dont have every part to every bike. I understand this is a long review, but I feel ppl only talk about when theyre mad. Never give flowers. So to Alan's Bike shop, personally, thank you for your years of fantastic service and amazing staff.

Stores like an e-bike shop are great because they have a wide selection of bikes for different riders, whether you want something for commuting, mountain trails, or just cruising around town. The staff are usually very knowledgeable and help you find the right bike size and style so you can ride comfortably and safely. Many shops also offer repairs, accessories, and test rides, which makes the whole experience even better. Overall, visiting an e-bike shop is fun because it makes you want to get outside, ride more, and enjoy the freedom that electric bikes give you.

Their actual cost to do the repair is probably like $25-$50. More to the point this damage would have been entirely avoidable, with just an extra 30 seconds of instruction provided at the start of the rental process. This charge was applied punitively, I'm quite certain, and after spending some time on the phone they have refused to reverse the charge. As far as I'm concerned, they were negligent, failing to provide safe operation information (how to walk safely with the bike) and providing unsafe and illegal guidance (you can't ride on sidewalks). They've now compounded this by unethically trying to collect even more money from us. Stay away. I would like nothing more than to see this business fail, or at least suffer enough that they correct their behaviors going forward. I have to believe that there are better, more ethical, and better trained locations to rent an e-bike from. Maybe will try again at another location once my wife's bruises and scrapes, and ego, have healed.
