Even cooler was the fact that they let me and some other guests pull the sails up at the start of the tour!! The views were unbeatable, and the crew did a great job of keeping us safe and entertained throughout the tour. Great drink selection and the snack boxes (some cheese, cherries, and crackers) as well as the lunch wraps were great for our couple hours on the water. I would definitely do this again when in town, or recommend to others who want to spend an exhilarating but serene afternoon on the water.

Upon arrival, we discovered a lady bug/beetle infestation. The dishes in the kitchen cabinets were dirty and also had beetles on them. The kitchen is also not a full kitchen as advertised. of the two bedrooms, one of them does not have heat, and the other one has a hidden baseboard heater which you are not made aware of. This resulted in us sleeping without heat before the first night. The bathrooms are absolutely filthy. Only 2 of us (out of 6 people) showered the entire weekend as the showers were very unclean. We had dog hair in the sheets of our bed. We realize mistakes can happen with cleaners so tried to work with the property owner, Jeff in hopes of working something out and issuing a partial refund for everything we encountered last weekend. He was very unprofessional and left us no choice but to contact AirBNB for help. After seeing our photos and videos, they agreed that we deserved a partial refund. I just wanted to help inform others to avoid renting from Crystal Adventures at all costs! It was a very unfortunate situation for our family.

There were very few open tickets left, so I highly recommend making your reservations as far in advance as possible! You can cancel for a full refund before 48 hours of your tubing time. The website is a little contradictory as they say tubing is open for all ages, however, they highly encourage all tubers to be able to handle loading and unloading themselves on and off the tow rope. We have a 4.5 & 2 year old so we gambled, as I had heard they have double tubes and we'd be able to handle this issue by riding with them. When we arrived, we signed in inside and were given our passes and a quick run down of how things worked. I was happy to see the COVID safety precautions they had in place - plexiglass dividers, sanitizer, and lots of social distancing at the indoor tables. I will note, they require face masks to be worn inside and outside while on the hill. This was actually welcomed as it helped keep our faces warm and we didn't find it bothersome at all to have them on! Especially flying down the hill! They have a full bar, snacks, etc inside for sale - we did not take advantage but nice to know its there! Bathrooms are inside, as well. There is a pile of tubes that you get to choose from, double tubes are first come first serve and we were able to grab two. These were ideal for our young kids! We were able to load them on and off the tow rope easily and had no issues. The operator at the bottom is super helpful in making sure you tube is secured and you are good to go. There is an operator at the top that tells you to get off the tube and he unhooks it from the rope - did not expect that but it was very much welcomed! There was about 4 operators at the top of the hill that help coordinate when you can go down and help you get going - again, no anticipated but very welcomed! This allowed us to get situated with our kids and they launched us down the hill. The hill is pretty dang big! Given the recent warm up, the hill was also very icy! We did not have any issues falling out or tipping, thankfully, but I would definitely recommend helmets, especially for kids! I was very happy to see that they had put hay down at the bottom of the hill. Not only did this help combat the mud, slush, ice, water mess.. but it helped slow the tubes since you go about mach 10 down the hill! lol There is plenty of outdoor seating and a fire pit to enjoy, as well. All in all, we had a great experience at Timberlee and we look forward to coming back! Our kids loved it, and we as adults did, too! Also, we were disappointed we didn't see the Bloody Mary's until we were leaving, they looked really good!

Reservations were set up in advance at the wineries ,Julia took us inside to make sure everything was going well , came and got us when it was time to move on but NEVER made us feel rushed once !! She explained where we were going and a little about the area and history of the wineries. Last year we tried to do some of this on our own and it didn't go well . But we quickly noticed there was a premium tour experience available through Grand Traverse Tours. Their shiny and clean premium vehicles were always parked right at the entrance and their groups were being guided past the lines we stood in by their guide and driver. We knew then that when we returned we would want to be a part of their VIP experience, and that we would want to bring friends with us to enjoy it. INITIAL CONTACT: After reviewing their easy to navigate and well organized homepage we completed an online reservation request. We received a prompt and timely response to confirm availability and were directed to call at our convenience to make a specific reservation. I spoke with the owner Greg and he is terrific to work with. He was happy to answer all of my questions in an unhurried and no pressure manner. His guidance when creating our custom itinerary was much appreciated as he helped us to narrow down the very many choices there are to make sure we found the right tour for our group - which we most certainly did. COST: We were presently surprised to discover that the cost of their tours is very competitive to the more average experiences. In fact, with as few as 6 people we were actually ahead financially and of course enjoyed the VIP experience to boot. DRIVER / GUIDE: Todd arrived early, was professionally dressed, and most pleasant to be around. He knew the wineries as well as you would expect and was happy to share his insights with us. He called the day before to introduce himself as well as the morning of our event just to make sure all was well. He was always there when you needed him and never hard to find. His presence definitely elevated our experience. THE VEHICLE: Our group has all been in similar domestically produced vehicles by Ford and GM and such at one time or another so we were all expecting the ride to be like that of a school bus or airport shuttle - bumpy, noisy, and just adequately comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the ride quality and comfort of their Mercedes-Benz A-Style Limousine which rivaled that of the MB sedans - no kidding. It was like gliding on a magic carpet, members of our group made several comments in this regard, myself included. THE VIP EXPERIENCE: As we anticipated our group was dropped and picked up right at the entrance and Todd walked us in and guided us to the front of the lines at each stop. Checking in was effortless and quick. We never felt rushed and our pace was relaxing and fun. SUMMARY: We can hardly wait to return to Traverse City, and when we do we will of course be calling Grand Traverse Tours to help elevate our experience once again.

There's Frisbee golf and horseshoes available..firewood was a generous amount for the money. There's 400 acres of state land to the north directly abutting the property. Mostly trailer and tent camping ( we had hammocks and were allowed to choose the spot we liked with the best trees for setup). They do have a canoe and kayak livery that currently only operates on weekends. I rarely gush over a business that doesn't bring me hot delicious food and cocktails...this is an exception to the rule. Hands down one of the best camping experiences. I have been disperse camping the last few years in order to avoid people and some of the issues that come with group camping ( loud drunk ppl...fascist property managers etc) this was about as good as family camping will ever get and the location is incredible. There's a very clean Mobil gas w a pizza place about 2 miles from the campground...and plenty of activities in all direction. I don't fish but they seemed to have a nice set up and it's right on the river.

The owners make it no secret they actively watch the cameras and will provide real-time feedback of guest's activities. The owners also have extreme cleaning requirements for checkout. If you do not meet these requirements they will send you a followup email containing details and pictures of your transgressions. For example, there is an unwritten expectation to clean the toilet before leaving even though a toilet brush is not provided. I have never encountered such expectations at other resorts, vacation rentals, or hotels. Additionally, the owners have a clear preference for individual cabin rentals. Large groups and children are discouraged, which might be a consideration if you're planning a family vacation, reunion, or a group trip. This focus on maintaining a serene environment may not suit everyone's vacation plans. However, if you're a retiree looking to go fishing or kayaking this is your place. This was our second summer at the resort and will be our last. Our family group rented 6 cabins, some traveling from out of state. Our group ranged from grandparents to young kids. We are a fairly quiet group that doesn't "party", nor do we stay up late. We did our best to stay out of other guests way and share the communal areas. The owners made us feel like a bother and unwelcome during our stay. We cleaned up after ourselves and cleaned the cabins before we left. Even still, we received emails after our stay indicating toilets were not cleaned and a couple of crumbs were left on a counter. While I can appreciate the owners' high standards for cleaning and grounds maintenance, they do not have enough staff to maintain those standards and instead push the responsibility onto their guests. Overall, Betsie Riverside Resort is a lovely destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in well-kept surroundings. Just be mindful of the owners' preferences, expectations, and the presence of active security camera monitoring if you're looking for a more relaxed and private experience.
