I came here on adult nite and it was just that! However, the Dj that nite was trash bring your own head phones. If your with a group try those slient party head phones. The food counter was closed so bring your own water/beverage. They should throw away those toy skates the green and red ones. Those things a horrible. The black leather ones were much better but bring and insole. It felt like i was skating on screws. Lol. With that said I would go back on adult nite . They allow you to listen to your own music via headphones. Their rink and restrooms are clean and well supplied. The owners are very lovely people. The skate floor is well kept and the floor carpet is clean. We go every week and it's worth traveling 45 minutes from home. My brother and his wife travels from PA which is 1hr+ to go with us. I HAVE NOT SKATED HERE. I brought my granddaughter this afternoon, just to inquire about open skate times and so forth. There was nobody at the main entrance, and the door into the skate arena was locked. Fortunately, a lady inside saw us and told the attendant someone was at the window. Wow!! I have experienced bad service before, but never as bad as this. The young lady inside seemed put out that she had to come and speak to me. I said it was my first time there and asked for information. She said, "HUH?" because apparently she couldn't hear me through their speaker system. I repeated that it was my first time there, and I wondered if it was open skate time ... She rather sharply said, "No! this is day care" and started to turn away. I asked when there are open skate times and she pointed out at the entrance and told me, "There should be calendars out there." Really?!? OK, if you don't care enough about potential business to be polite and helpful, I can just as easily go elsewhere. BTW, I seldom give one star reviews. But really, this place doesn't deserve any better, and it certainly doesn't deserve my hard-earned money. read more

Wheels is our neighborhood skating rink. Looking for some family fun, and a place to exercise without feeling like we're exercising, we decided to take up skating. Wheels isn't the fanciest skating rink, there's not a lot of bells and whistles, but here's the thing, there's good music, good iced slurpee-esque drinks, and decent snacks. The staff is friendly, they play games that allow the skaters to do more than just skate in a circle, and they offer the assistance bar for those that aren't confident in their ability to stay on their feet. :) And, even better ... Wednesday's are $1 skate night. If you're looking for inexpensive family fun, this is definitely an option. read more

I love this place. The kids love how much room there is to skate on the floor. The carpet is always clean and if there is a mess the associates clean it up immediately. My daughter had her 9th birthday party there. They were always refilling the drinks and would let you know when the food was coming out. They also take song requests from anyone. There games are super fun and not that expensive. My daughter one the 1,000 tickets on one of the games. Everyone was having fun at the party. They have rolling bars to help people that are still learning how to skate. Their concessions are very good and not too pricey. They have a playground inside for kids who may not want to skate while others do. They host races every night and they do it by age group so everyone can participate. No complaints! My wife and I are Gen-X types who recently rediscovered skating. We visited during a Friday night (25+) adult session and loved the vibe, the music, the staff friendliness, etc. Wheels, compared to other local venues is CLEAN! From the skating floor and snack area to the lockers, pro shop and restrooms, the facility has been taken care of. Did I mention maple skating floor? What an incredible experience overall. Personally I love Wheels alot but as of recently they changed their rules which led to alot of teens not being able to come in without an adult over 24 which kind of sucks. Their floor is amazing and the skates are good but sometimes the staff is questionable. A staff member told us that our home was questionable because we told her our parents were on vacation due to us not being able to be accommodated by an adult. Luckily one of the ladys who come there frequently took us as her responsibility and I will be thankful! read more

Before COVID, we used to go there quite a bit. Tonight was our first night back. Wednesday had routinely been $1 skate night, the whole group could skate for a few bucks. Now, the price has been jacked up to $10 per skater, so what would have been $6, was now $60! They now "offer" free rentals on skates, but essentially useless deal when you have your own. As per usual, not outside food or drink was allowed, we decided to order some pizza - big mistake. Cardboard dipped in week old ketchup would taste infinitely better than what they passed off as pizza. Lastly, they must not have turned on the AC or it was broken, but it was an inferno in there tonight. Everyone was sweating profusely and it smelled like a locker room in there. All-in-all, this will be last night out there. read more

Me and my friends used to love coming here but as of 2 weeks ago they've changed their rules, now if your under 18 you have to have an adult accompany you, most of the people that come are teens with their friends, and now we have to bring a parent. read more

Not much has changed here since I first moved to Maryland in the early 80's. The musical selection has grown (but still includes the classics). There are still people working there that have been there since I can recall. The rink itself is in great shape, and the whole place is well maintained and clean. All that's really missing is Missile Command. A good plan if you're going here with kids -- come for the group lessons! You get a skate rental, a lot of time on the floor, and then free skating afterwards. read more

A group of 10 of us came here, mostly kids, everything was nice And clean. The staff was extremely helpful and the best thing about this place was the family friendly music. I drove 30 mins here for this reason when there is a skating rank 10 mins from my house because I don't want my children listening to raunchy music. This spot is quiet and I love the fact that the workers strictly enforce masks. There were only like 6 other people when I went during the week in the evening. On Tuesdays, the manager informed me that they do $5 lessons. I highly recommend coming here because the tunes are cute and kid-friendly. So glad a friend introduced me to this little hidden gem! Customer Service is always friendly, welcoming, and inviting! The floor is kept clean and cleared which is amazing. Just finished skating here with an 9 year old. For just a fun Saturday it was pretty ok. It's a decent size rink with a very nice staff. However, if you go past kids hours it's 20$ to rent and skate and then 6 quarters for a locker and EVERYTIME you open the locker, to lock it again is another 6 quarters. Then if you want a helper for your kid it's another 4 bucks. Also, if there's a lot of skaters there you'll have to be limited to skating with your young one and their helper in the center smaller rectangle of the rink, to give space for the "experienced" skater - which isn't as much fun for the kid. Overall not that bad though. The kids had a blast. 3.5 stars. read more

Friendly staff, affordable, clean facility, good music and skaters of all levels so everyone feels comfortable. Nothing fancy about this place but it's a fun place to spend some time! My daughter has become obsessed with roller skating since attending a classmates birthday party a couple of weeks ago. However, it was her first time and, frankly, a traumatic experience for all involved. I told her that were she to continue this she would need a lesson or two because I was certainly of no help. Fortunately, Wheels Skating Center offers lessons from 1-2 p.m. on Saturdays at only $5.00 a session, skates included. I was a little worried because there are no walls to cling on to but as her lesson went on, I actually saw it as a good thing because she wasn't relying on something to keep her up. The teacher was great and began they lesson by teaching them how to fall and get back up properly. In less than an hour, my daughter was doing substantially better and even crouching down under the limbo stick with confidence. Another bonus to the lesson was that they were able to continue skating from 2-5 for the free skate at no extra charge! A fabulous deal if I ever heard one. The rink is dated but after seeing several rinks, I am pretty sure they just built them all in 1982, bought some skates for rentals that apparently never really wear out and just stopped there. The kids don't care though and it is a great way to spend an afternoon. read more

This place stinks! We attended a birthday party today and they didn't have enough walkers for all the children , so half of them had to sit around and wait until someone decided to share theirs. What fun !! - not !! My husband complained to a worker and she snapped at him , " well, when we get more money, we'll buy more walkers." Nice attitude. He also wanted to get a lousy cup of water for our daughter at the concession stand . He waited and waited ... Nobody showed up . ! Then the old guy there got in my face at the end , telling me I " had to get off the floor now because they were having skating lessons.!!!" How the hell was I supposed to know that ? There was no announcement. I told him to relax and go away . They also have no helmets for the little kids. The workers were handing out HARD CANDY to children while they were skating !!! 80's Flash Back!!! I am slightly embarrassed to amit that I am a frequent visitor to most of the regions roller skating rinks. I have a fetish for black and neon carpet, 1 foot tall toilet seats and gum ground into the floor from the late 80's. In all seriousness, my younger sister (much younger sister) competitively figure skates. I had no idea this was a serious as it is until Sarah started skating. They have local meets, regional, national and even world competitions. Wheels Skating Center recently hosted the four day regional championship completition, and I can happily say, I didn't feel the need to dip myself in bleach after leaving each day. Some rinks have molded out ceiling tiles, bathrooms that have doors that wont shut, café tables covered in who knows what and are overall just NASTY. WSC is bright, clean, and very well taken care of. Probably the best in the area as far as I can tell. read more

We had an "informal" birthday party for my daughter there. I was disappointed because we had asked if we could bring in our own cake and was told that was ok. We found out when we got there that unless you have a "scheduled party" there that you can't bring in outside food. The manager was quite rude. Our cake was left in the car to melt. Other than that, there is very limited table seating available unless you do schedule a party. I think the parties cost $100 and comes with skate rentals and pizza for a group of ten, which actually is a good deal considering we spent that much as it was for only five girls. The kids had fun but I wasn't impressed with the place at all, especially the rude management. read more

A white male student at Wheels skating center hit my daughter because she would not hug another white male student. He first threatened to hit her if she did not hug another boy.. She replied that she would not then he hit her in the head. He is in the fifth grade. She is in the second grade. The Wheels Skating center in Odenton refused to offer any type of formal consequence for him hitting my daughter. The owner Mrs. Pam hung up on me after I asked her what if my daughter was white, and the assailant was a black boy hitting her for not hugging another black boy. read more

On the plus side, this roller rink is fairly new and clean. There's nothing objectionable about this place, but I didn't love it. The decor was very minimal - most walls were plain white. There were no half-walls to run into to stop yourself - instead there was a step that lots of people fell over. They did have "skate mates" for the kids, which made learning to skate easier. There was a concession area and a trinket/candy buying area. The whole place felt too light - more like an ice rink than the roller rinks I remember from the 80s. I wanted a nostalgic place. This isn't it. And it was too far of a drive for the disappointment. read more

I rented the Skating Rink for my friends 40th birthday and it was so AMAZING! What made it extra special were Pam and Scott. I really didn't have expectations besides the hope of receiving good service; however Pam and Scott went above and beyond! They completely exceeded my expectations and made it extra special for our group. They went completely over the top with their special touches and additions. They seemed to genuinely care and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. We really didn't expect much, but every time I turned around they were going out of their way to make sure we were happy and enjoying ourselves. For instance, since we were celebrating with an 80's theme, Pam earlier that day made an 80's playlist for us to enjoy as we skated. That's just one of the many but personalized touches they added for us. During these difficult times it's been so hard to spend time with loved ones, therefore we were so excited to have this moment to bring our group together. It had been so long since we all had the chance to find the time to be with one another, and Pam and Scott truly made it memorable for us! To Pam and Scott-I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring so much to make our time together extra special and unforgettable! read more

The woman I spoke to on the telephone was very nice. I had my great granddaughter 10th birthday party there. Never again. The man behind the ticket counter was extremely rude. There was a girl working and she was going to sell me pitchers of sodas and whole pizza for the children. But this rude man said no. You'll have to buy it by the slice and cup of sodas. This rink is nice and new! They have friendly staff and good instructors for the classes. The rink also runs a daycare/camp for kids during the day. I have only been there Tuesday nights and for a local artistic roller skating competition. The only complaint that some skaters have is that the music is dated and not "good," basically old people music. Hahahaha, but this definitely makes the rink a more family friendly establishment. For the youngins out there, I recommend you bring an ipod. This is one of the newest rinks in the area with plenty of food options at snack bar. They also have an artistic skating club. So keep returning to the classes and learning new tricks so that we can have more skaters join their art club and hence artistic roller skating (basically ice skating on tv but on quads)! I will def return whenever I need extra practice and am not practicing at Laurel Skate Center. read more

My son went to Wheels for 7 weeks of summer camp a couple of years ago, and he absolutely loved it! He went in not being able to skate at all, and by the end of the summer he was skating like a champ. They had field trips 2-3 times a week, got lots of skating time, and were even given lunch as well as breakfast and snacks on the days that they stayed at the rink all day. Next week both of my kids will be starting after-care there, and they can't wait! They also offer skating lessons one evening a week for $5, which includes skate rental and admission to the public session that evening, it's quite a bargain. read more

Bring Cash, as the credit card min. is $20, and it's so reasonable you'll need a group or a family to meet that. Looks like a great place to have a kid's party. There was a great room off to the side painted with balloons that I saw. 4 stars for lack of food or drinks available, but they do have a kitchen - perhaps it's there on busier nights. Call ahead and be sure before you take the kids out for pizza! I didn't rent skates, but it looks like you can get the leather boot or the plastic - be SURE to ask for the leather. The plastic will only cause you pain. All in all, great floor nice and clean and very affordable. Good night out! read more

We had our daughter's birthday party there and it was great. Most of the staff were very young, but, they were ALL professional, courteous, and helpful. It didn't hurt that they were also half the price of another local skating rink and you get a lot more. My daughter had never skated before and was allowed to take a couple of skating lessons for free to practice before her party. Jerks. That's all I can say to sum up the staff, they're all jerks. From the moment we were in line getting tickets, to the moment we left, all I saw were people getting yelled at left and right by the staff over seemingly innocuous technicalities. One guy was trying to bring in gluten free cookies to his kid's birthday party because of allergies, and they wouldn't make an exception for him... What!!?? Ok I guess some kids are just going to have to suffer allergic reactions then... then I watched some old dude with long greasy hair get on the microphone and begin yelling at people who were skating on the floor with a really condescending nasty tone, again over very innocent things that kids were doing. If you could somehow avoid interacting with the staff, this would be an ok place for kids to skate. But this was my first and last time at this poorly run establishment. read more

Gave this place a 3 because, well it deserves a three. Nothing bad or wrong about this place but i'vev been to much classier skate rinks! The kids will have a great time. The staff does games in the middle of the rink for the kids. That didnt stop me from participating/cheating in the events. I'd recommend it for a kids party though. I won't rate the attractiveness of the employees at this place because i didnt see a single lady that looked over 18. USE CAUTION WHEN ATTENDING ON FRIDAY NIGHTS! Advertised for skating 8-11, but didn't start letting people pay to get in til 8:15. Lot of kids butting the line. We stood in line just to get in at 8:50p. Then they searched my sons bag with skates. A brawl happened later on in the night and mad kid takes his skates off and throws it over 3 rows of seating onto rink (flew directly over our heads). Last time I will attend on a Friday night.
