I was biking from Arlington Center to Bedford on the Minuteman trail when my bike got a flat tire on the way back.

We LOVE Gary Wood and the folks at Belmont Wheelworks. We met when my son (who has Cerebral Palsy…read morefrom a stroke in utero) was in his first bike race-- Gary helped us adjust our bike before the race. My son bit the bug on bicycling and when he was ready for a new bike, Gary helped us find the perfect bike, making some accessibility modifications like switching the brake sides to favor my son's stronger side, etc. I got my Stumpjumper here 20 years ago and Belmont Wheelworks keeps on delivering because of the people!

Here's a collection of my terrible experiences at Wheel Works:…read more Story #1: Took a bike in to get an insurance write up for estimated cost of repair/replacement (my biked was pretty much totaled). They said the estimated time for this would be around 5 days. After 10 days of them not contacting me, I called them. They said the write up was ready so I went to shop only for them to tell me it is not ready and to come back in a couple days. When I went back, the person who did the write up lost the paper and we had to go back AGAIN for a new paper. A 5 day simple write up turned into a 3 week back and fourth with this shop (and 3 weeks with no bike which is my main form of transportation). Story #2: I asked for 2 tubes for my bike and they gave me 2 different sized tubes BOTH OF WHICH WERE NOT THE CORRECT TUBE. Story #3: I asked for a tube for my bike and I gave them the model (which they sold to me). The person asked me what size it is which I forgot. So he replied "well I don't know that bike go figure that out yourself" (while he was at a functioning computer in which he could have looked it up for me). Story #4: I also had a kick stand repair after it fell off (my bike has a specialize built in kickstand) and it fell off again after 2 rides.

I don't know anything about Trek-brand bicycles, but they service other brands of non-electric…read morebikes here and the service is great. They seem to pretty reliably get your bike back within 24 hours, and they diagnosed a tricky problem and came up with a very reasonable solution. They definitely seemed to know what they were doing. It didn't feel like they were trying to get the work or the cost up. They used parts I brought in. Parking is obviously easy in the huge shopping center lot.

By far the best service at a bike shop I've gotten in the Boston area so far. Prior to this, I had…read morebeen going to Belmont Wheelworks and being demoralized each time by the lack of acknowledgement or help (guess I'm not their target demographic). Seriously considering taking my (non-Trek) bike here in the future for any repairs or maintenance. We were heading back home when I got a flat right in front of Trader Joe's across the street. Thankfully my husband remembered there was a Trek in the nearby plaza. The guys in the store couldn't be nicer! My tire was fixed, my pressure was upped, and I was back in business in less than half an hour. Addison in particular was really kind and didn't make me feel dumb for asking a question. Superb customer service, not enough good things to say. Also, if you're any sort of trail nerd, the store itself is pretty cool with photos on the walls of nearby trails laying out the distance and route.

10 STARS!!!! I spoke to Owen, who helped me diagnose and repair an issue on my daughter's Schwinn…read moreAdmiral, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I couldn't recommend this place more highly. This is everything you look for in a local bike shop - staff who are helpful, approachable, look to work with bike owners and enable them to do basic maintenance at home, while remaining available for the maintenance and repairs at the shop!!!! This is an absolutely stellar shop. Very few of these are still left, unfortunately.

I had my eye on a bike for a week or so, before deciding to go ahead and order it online on Monday…read more. Said "in stock" and available for pick up in Danvers Tuesday morning or seabrook Wednesday morning. (Danvers was closed Monday). I chose to pick up in seabrook Wednesday since we are in NH and couldn't get down to Danvers Tuesday anyway. My confirmation email said "ships from western cycle" to seabrook location. My receipt was from the Danvers location. I got a call Tuesday at 5:30pm from seabrook saying that they didn't have the bike I ordered in stock at either location. I explained what my confirmation email said and the very sympathetic employee from seabrook said he would call Danvers so see if they had put the bike aside without his knowledge. Danvers was already closed for the day so he offered to call and get back to me in the morning. 10:15 Wednesday I get a call from the owner, with a big attitude, telling me that they don't have the bike. Zero sympathy or compassion for me, the customer. He claims it was in seabrook and must have sold right before I ordered but doesn't know when. I was obviously upset, having ordered Monday and only finding out two days later that they sold me a bike they didn't have. The owner acted annoyed that he even had to call me and said "I don't know what to tell ya". He offered to cancel the order or order the bike (which would come in 7-10 business days), but we are leaving on vacation and needed a bike sooner. He said "sorry" like he was forced to, and was just overall not nice to me. I would recommend Buchika or Philbrick's for your bike needs. Philbricks went above and beyond and legit built a bike for us same day (normally a 2-4 day turn around) so we'd have it for vacation.
