My son and I decided to stop by Spoke 'N Wheel to check out some bike one afternoon, and to my surprise he was going out of business due to retirement. I haven't been inside a traditional bike shop in some time, and it was nice stepping back into "simpler times." There was definitely a nice assortment of bikes to fit everyone's riding interests, but none of the crazy modern technology that other larger bike shops use to help with bike fitment, riding simulation, etc. The owner, John, was extremely accommodating the FIVE times I went there, each time to better understand my next bike, the groupset I was best suited for, and overal mental trade study on whether I should even buy one. No pressure whatsoever, he was carefree and offered honest opinion. In the end I bought a Park Tool repair stand and a Trek Checkpoint. Even looking to close shop, John gladly told me to come back with any questions. Local shops like this are far and few nowadays. read more

I needed a inner tube for my bike and Franks spoke-n-wheel is right down the street from me. I had John, the man in the work shop install it for me as i had already messed up twice! I then drove out to Rutland State Park to ride the trails out there and would'ent you know it? the tire I just had fixed at a cost of $13.50 was FLAT! I called John and he said to bring it in and he would fix it! (like you "FIXED" before?) after driving back an hour i was met with an additude by some other guy. After John saw that i was NOT to pissed off he came over and i asked him "what happened to the friendly atmosphere" we joked and laughed untill i was told it was an additional $7.43 for tape? ! If I pay you to do a job for me I expect you to do it and do it right! and if something happens to make amends. not charge me $7.43 and a day of my life!!!!!!! If you want service. Honestly kind of shocked to see so many 1 star ratings for Frank's in Sudbury, especially when so many of them immediately mention a competitor that isn't even all that local.... I've shopped at Frank's quite a bit since moving to the area. The selection is mediocre- you can generally find what you need to get rolling, or a new helmet and jersey (if it's Bontrager), but good luck finding a replacement 35mm stem (let alone 31.8) in your favorite color. The bikes in stock are mostly low-mid end. That's a little surprising considering the shop is in Sudbury and parked near a Bentley dealer... I think the biggest thing Frank's needs to do is to heavily discount their dead stock and get rid of it (who is shopping for Ultegra from 1992???) so they can make room for newer inventory. There isn't much need for a Judy DH since they haven't been made in 22 years. Still, the reason to go to Frank's is for the awesome service. Prices are reasonable...considerably better than other local shops, and the level of service is great. I've had a couple of weird jobs done by Frank's, and they were done sooner than expected, for a reasonable price, and they were done well. I go to frank's for all of my service now, and I'm pretty picky about that. I usually do my own work, but as time gets short I need help, and Frank's hasn't let me down. Give em a shot...just make it past the two decade old SPDs first, and you'll be glad you did. read more

I'm new to cycling and the staff (owners?) here have been great. I've come in several times for small things (didn't know how to change a tire tube) and ended up purchasing an entry level mountain bike there as well. Whenever I've gone in, they've always been kind and have been incredibly patient with all of my questions. Been a customer for 3 years now and not coming back. Showed up one morning with the intention of purchasing a new bike. Was 15 minutes after they had opened for the day and one of the owners/employees comes to the door yelling. At first I thought he needed help, then I realized he was yelling at me! Was concerned he didn't have time to put salt down on the walkway. I was already at the door and he wanted me to go back to my car. Next time get your walkways prepped before opening. He did apologize for over-reacting, but it didn't sit well with me so I took my business to Landrys. Had a much better experience with Landrys both friendly and professional. read more

Apparently this staff skipped kindergarten. They do not treat their customers with basic courtesy, respect or kindness with which id imagine they themselves would like to be treated! Aside from being cruel, insulting and rude they also quoted me $80 on a fix (which was high to start) then charged me $107 when i came to pick up my bike. The only reason i even left the bike after receiving their abuse was desperation during covid as other area bike stores were closed or booked out months. Honestly DO NOT go here unless you want to leave being ripped off and treated terribly. Landrys or harris are worth the wait! Never again! read more

Spoke 'n' Wheel is a good shop. They do solid repairs, even if sometimes there's a bit of a back log because there aren't other shops nearby, and their best wrench only works part time. Their main brands are Trek/Lemond/Gary Fisher, although they also carry Bianchi and Quintana Roo on the road side, and they also sell Haro for the BMXers. I've bought two Trek bikes from Frank's. I've brought them four bikes for service. I can't imagine a better bike shop. Somehow they are able to understand my needs and sell me two bikes that precisely fit my needs. I love my bikes--one on the roads and one on the trails. I have brought bikes in--including a bike bought at Walmart and a bike bought in the 1980s--and got them tuned up in a day. Frank's won't wow you with its appearance, but it has a lot of other qualities in its favor. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and willing to spend time answering questions (even basic ones), and you don't have to make an appointment in advance. I'll be back. read more

I had been shopping around for a Hybrid bike and stopped in to Spoke 'n' Wheel just because it was in the neighborhood. But I was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience from customer service to knowledge employees to quality bikes at reasonable prices. I ended up purchasing a Trek 7100 Hybrid and got a better deal than any other bike store around and a much better quality bike then what they have in the box stores. Rich was very helpful, very patient and not pushy. I returned a week later to get a tune up for my husband's bike and again pleased with our experience. I was in the market for a low tech Hybrid but the shop is full of quality mountain, hybrids and road bikes. They have a nice selection of kids bikes and kids seats too. I called on a Tuesday morning looking to get my tires filled and was greeted by a very rude man. I explained I was unsure how to fill the tires since it was my first bike and looking for someone to fill them and teach me. I just had two older bikes serviced here and am really happy the way they came out. I am pretty fussy with my bike and felt that I was in good hands when I dropped off the first bike. I was so impressed, I brought my second bike in to be serviced as well. The employees were very friendly, super knowledgeable and very nice to deal with.
