Found this restaurant on yelp while staying nearby from mohegan sun. Decided to check it out. Service was amazing. Staff seems very friendly and I could tell it was a popular spot for the locals. Everyone seemed to know each other. Food waa delicious and portions are huge! Hocus poachus, blueberry pancakes and I forgot the name of the combo I had but it was eggs, homefries picode gallo and cheese. Very very yummy! No ketchup needed. read more

My favorite part of breakfast here was the bottomless coffee cup with a variety of coffees to try. I enjoyed the pumpkin spice and the decaf chocolate raspberry. The breakfast monte was a good choice for breakfast as well. Bacon, Ham, cheese and egg sandwiched between two slices of french toast. It may seem like too much but the fillings were modest in size so the sandwich as just perfect. It was served with some delicious home fries and we also tried the sweet potato home fries which were really good. The only thing that was not a hit was the cold mocha which fell a little flat. The cafe is so cute and quaint though, I would definitely stop in again while in town. read more

Been traveling to this general area of Connecticut for family events for nearly 10 years now and never heard of this place, which is really unfortunate, as it is an incredible find. Great service, delicious food, good coffee - what more could you want from a breakfast place? I am very disappointed with this place. Based on reviews it's good have been much better! The service was great, very nice people, everyone smiling and quick seating. Food arrived quickly as well. However, the food was meh. My husband had hash browns which were raw, not cooked properly and overly salty. My egg quesadilla had old bacon in it. They are proud of using local products whenever possible, I highly doubt it! Would not recommend this place. read more

This is the second time my husband and I have frequented this restaurant. The food is always made fresh. We have ordered the city, garden scramble, steak and eggs, pancakes, and french toast. Everything has been good. The only exception are the home fries, which are rather dry. Will continue to frequent this restaurant for brunch. read more

First time here , great experience ! Our group rode up on bikes on a perfect Sunday afternoon. You can pass by ( BUT DON'T) and miss When Pigs Fly due to lack of prominent signage out front , probably a zoning issue . Anyway .. The California chicken sandwich was , what's a better word for delicious ?! And the sides are not those little 1/2 a Dixie cup you get at most places it's a portion you would put on your plate at home. Lots of menu choices , my friends had the pulled pork sandwich and had high praise for it , one buddy especially liked his side of baked beans. Not only is the BBQ meat tasty but the toppings on the sandwich really make it pop. The staff and owner extremely nice and friendly , in fact one of the servers happily took pictures of our group at our request ! Thank you , I wish I had gotten your name , next time ! As for price , you pay about the same for a Subway footling and drink , so enough said there. Great place , can't wait to come back and try other menu items like the ribs ! read more

I come back to the area every summer and this is a must visit! The food is phenomenal and the coffee is self-serve with some wacky flavors at times (blueberry comes to mind). The servers are all fantastic as well. I even own a "When Pigs Fly Mug"! They do only take cash, and provide an ATM. They really need to start taking credit cards. I see people every time I am there who get caught without cash and have to ATM. read more

I hate here for the first time this morning because I wanted to try it out for the first time and I just loved it. The 3 pancakes I had were incredible and the service was great. They mostly have a female staff who are all very sweet and quite a few of them have some very interesting tattoos. I thought it was also cool that $2.49 you can get a bottomless coffee and take a cup with you as you head out. The only reason I give them 4 stars is that they don't accept credit cards. Cash only. Very short wait for a Saturday morning after another place had a 25 minute wait (no can do with 2 hungry little ones.) Our server was super nice...a guy in his 30s, sorry I didn't catch his name. The food was good and the price was fair (except the $4 for a small turkey sausage patty...can't really justify that amount and wish my husband didn't order it!) My husband and I got the Little Breakfast. Just eggs and homefries basically so hard to mess that up. Kids liked their sprinkle pancakes. Would go again. read more

My husband and I LOVE coming to this local breakfast place! Staff and food are great! I love any of their creative egg mix-ups and my husband is addicted to the Breakfast Club. OK, maybe I am too! The self-serve hot coffee and tea are great because you get free refills and you can take your unfinished coffee to go. The flavored color selection is also awesome! I am a bit of a coffee snob (I highly dislike Dunken Donuts) and this is great naturally flavored coffee. We have never been on the weekends, I am sure it must get busy. Weekdays are pretty calm and you can get a table right away. I am only giving it a 4-star because we really wish they would accept credit cards. read more

I visited New London to visit my brother who is in the Navy. We were looking for a place to eat breakfast and decided to try this place even with mediocre reviews. We got a seat on the patio right away, but it took at least 10 minutes before anyone came up to us to take our drink/food orders. My brother ordered sausage gravy- he liked it. It was pretty close to mom's cooking, so he was happy. I got the little breakfast and it was good. The only time we saw our waitress was when she took our orders and when she brought our check. A runner brought our drinks and food. We got bottomless tea and coffee, yet were never offered refills. Which was a bummer since I really liked the iced coffee. Their coffee bar was good, but the inside of the restaurant is really crowded and small so it was a bit of chaos to stand in line to get cream/sugar. All in all I would go back to When Pigs Fly- I just think their wait staff needs to be more attentive. Also, they do not accept credit cards, but do have an ATM. read more

Zero stars, I refuse to ever go back. Bad customer service. I paid for my meal to go and walked to the front of the store where I noticed they gave me change as if I paid with a $10 when I gave them a $20. I went back to the register and explained. They said it wasn't possible. Mind you I was a regular that would come in two or three times a week. They stuck with it that they gave me correct change but if I wanted I could come back at closing when the drawer was counted. I told them that was ridiculous I didn't have time for that. Finally they said that they probably gave my missing $10 to the guy behind me (who was long gone). I threw my to go food in the garbage in front of them and said ill never be back. read more

My favorite breakfast place ever! I absolutely love this place. I enjoy the home made breads they use for French toast. Blueberry cream cheese is my favorite but they have taken it off the menu and run it as a special from time to time. That's my only complaint, that they took my favorite dish off the menu. Also I can't say too much about their lunch menu because I always eat breakfast. They serve it until 2pm when they close so I can have my omelet with apple chicken sausage anytime. It's a small cozy place that is always packed on the weekend but worth the wait. You get your own coffee and they usually have a good selection to choose from. We stumbled upon this cute little gem this morning & I am beyond satisfied. The atmosphere is so nice and i love how clean and vintage everything looks. There's a patio with umbrellas to sit underneath for the nice warm days like today. The menu is perfect for everybody. They have turkey options as well as veggie. The omelet alone was enough to fill me up & came steaming hot fresh off the grill. I had the Sante Fe omelet which had black beans, salsa, sour cream, tomato & avocado. Soooo good. My favorite part about this place is the coffee station. It's unlimited refills and they have carafes of multiple kinds of coffee & multiple choices for tea. Their cream station has an almond milk option (thumbs up). AND, you get to take a coffee to go which is a big size Togo cup. Our waitress was a pretty blonde girl & she was so friendly. Stopped here for the first time on our way home to Milford from Mohegan Sun. What a great discovery! The huevos rancheros is out of this world - could not put the fork down. Boyfriend had the sampler which he said was pretty good as well. It was rather crowded on Sunday morning which we figured it would be so we called ahead and were promptly seated upon arrival (they do not take reservations but add you to a list to decrease wait time). Service was excellent considering how busy it was. Would definitely return if in the area again. P.S. There is a self serve coffee bar available if you have to wait for a table ;) read more

We have gone to this place a few times or more when visiting my husban'd family in CT. They have a serve yourself coffee bar with an assortment of flavors to choose from, great omelettes and I like their corned beef hash. I will agree with the other reviewer that their home fries could use some more pep to them - I usually doctor mine up with salt, pepper and hot sauce. It is a popular spot so sometimes you do have to wait - aside from the low-key home fries the wait is worth it. read more

Amazingly enough I enjoyed the home fries. I had the city scramble, which included cheese, bacon and spinach, the stems weren't cut off and there was a lot of spinach, also the bacon was disgusting, do they even fry it or is it nuked? It was not fully cooked and flabby. I loved the sour dough toast and the breakfast was large. I did take advantage of the coffee bar, wasn't really impressed, had the hazelnut, just didn't wow me.
