My dog requires medicine twice daily, and has some slight arthritis. Deborah addresses this appropriately. I felt obligated to write a review, because I think it's very important to understand what you're going to experience (especially due to all the 5 star reviews). I think most dog owners think of themselves as dog parents as I do, so I was really hesitant to kennel or send my dog off with a stranger. Deborah was quite prompt with emails, and requires you to go to her house for a 30-minute, $20 consultation. No big deal if I was satisfied with the visit...but I wasn't, and honestly, I feel like I paid her to torture me for an hour. What could I have bought with that 20$? a meal, a shirt, a car wash? I don't know, anything would have been better. I opened the door and was immediately greeted by a giant mob of about 10-12 dogs. It definitely threw me off because when Deborah had mentioned I needed to book quickly, she said could only have a "handful" of dogs at any given minute. I assumed that meant....5? (at the most). Her house is essentially a dog park. They are allowed on furniture, and have in and out privileges. Good for the dogs, because they definitely know who is boss and run wild. Her roommate was spraying dogs with water bottles because they're misbehaving. For 30+ minutes I watched another dog follow my dog around and hump him while he tried to escape. Yes, my dog is submissive, but Deborah commented several times about how he was, "standoffish," "doesn't know how to play," and asking me if I ever take him to dog parks. Are you kidding me? I take him to the dog park all the time, and he's fine. I felt like she was constantly questioning my dog parenting, because she gave me several comments such as that throughout the hour. This is also ridiculous, because he was one of the most well behaved dogs there, and definitely is trained not standoffish. The biggest problem I had was her own dog's nails were yellow, long and curled over...which honestly, it's what, 10 minutes and $8 for a nail trim? She also works during the day, so the dogs are unsupervised while she's out, and she doesn't walk them either. So... basically, you are giving her money for a storage space. I might as well leave my dog outside in my own much larger backyard with a giant trough of food/water, because it's the same exact thing. There are plenty of other people who will watch and walk your dog for the same price, have only 1-2 dogs at one time, and even send you photo updates. I know this sounds extremely negative, but it's how I felt. She's a nice lady (as is her roommate), and I know she genuinely loves her dogs, but the environment is just not what I was looking for.

And anytime she's had a schedule change she always checks with me if it's ok to come by earlier or later to walk the dogs. She's been excellent with regular communication through text message and also sends me a Dog Log report every time of where they walked, how far, how long, and she can also add pictures and notes to it, and let me know if anyone pooped. She has gotten some of the cutest photos of my dogs and shared them with me which I love to see. She also has the best pricing, by far, of anyone I have seen online, on Yelp, and on apps like Rover. I highly highly recommend her to anyone looking for pet sitting or dog walking services.

Where can we board him when we leave? How will we get him there? All of these questions can be answered with Benji's Backyard. Sure there are services that come and walk for a half hour or so, and we use them too, but who picks up your dog at your home (trustworthy enough to enter with your spare key) and take the pup for a long walk at the beach with other dogs? That's great, but I didn't expect the detailed notes and pictures to verify that your dog wasn't just watched, but cared for. Even if your pre-neutered pup happens to Lothario every four-legged canine regardless of gender. But wait, there's more! What if you're leaving for a few days, and you can't have a house sitter? Benji's will pick up your barker and provide the same service they do for the long morning, notes included. And they bring him home. All of this for a price that I really don't know, The Wife handles that part. I can say during my monthly review of expenditures that it hasn't reached my What The Hell? threshold. So yep, this service earns the 5 stars. Great communication and care with no mistakes.

They do overnight boarding for regulars including pick up and drop off making your flights/business trips/family trips that much less stressful 7. Your dog will have a wonderful time. Only downside is they probably won't miss you as much, lol. 8. Oh, and the pricing is competitive to all the other Silicon Valley services. You won't find another service that includes pick up and drop off and all day daycare/dog hike for this much. 9. Marie always does the meet and greet intake appointments and all of her handlers are awesome (I've had Jade, JR, David). They're all awesome dog people. 10. Bonded, insured, all the rest of it. They check all their guests vaccinations, health records, and health so you don't have to worry that your pet will pick something up while playing. These guys are a gem.
