While I am sad and inconvenienced by Starbucks' departure, the shopping center offers plenty. CVS, Hallmark, and The Fresh Market are among my most frequent visits. Adele Diamond is the best jewelry store with amazing owners and fantastic staff. There are also a few restaurants and bakeries to enjoy. When I had a gym membership, I frequented the YMCA.

Sometimes there is confusion with other Hilltop stores at the intersection so keep in mind there is signage. The Shops at Hilltop are located on the Southeast corner off the intersection of Laskin and First Colonial. All the shops are collectively known as The Shoppes of Hilltop. However, the break it down by East and West. Customers have one access point off First Colonial and three off Laskin. If there is a drawback it's the bottleneck on the First Colonial side during rush. I have never had an issue with parking. The lot can be a bit hit or miss on debris. They do have a few security guards that patrol. I have never felt unsafe. The stores I frequent the most are Fruitive, Fresh Market, Bottlecraft, Bakers Crust, Cobalt Grille, Tino and Nectar. A few more in between as there are a lot of stores. My family enjoy the Shoppes at Hilltop and I would recommend working them in your rotation. Many are local businesses which is more reason.

It's an absolutely huge shopping center that has multiple entrances and exits so you can easily get in an out. Note: I do recommend you only enter and exit with traffic lights as the access roads for Laskin are notoriously confusing and frustrating to deal with. I'll be glad when they're gone... perhaps in the next 15-20 years? Ha. Still, worth the visit.

Best entry point is Laskin where their are two entrances. The furthest East is less congested. I've always found plenty of parking and the lot is impeccably clean. Lighting is great at night. Access to the businesses is great from the surface lot. So some of my favorite businesses located in Hilltop East are The Butcher's Son (previously Fire & Vine), Bottlecraft, Taste, YMCA, Great Outdoor Provision Co. and Birkenstock store. There are many more to check out. The Hilltop area is an upper-scale strip that is in a beautiful area of Virgina Beach only three miles from the oceanfront. I will continue to shop and eat at establishments in the area and recommend.

The busy shopping center offers a number of popular eateries such as Noodle Man, Clean Eatz, The Egg Bistro, Saladworks & Kelly's Tavern. Plaza Aztecs sits on an out parcel as do fast food favorites such as Dairy Queen, Chick fil A & Gourmet Gang. A yummy pastry location that I love for birthdays is Nothing Bundt Cakes. Over the years the anchor grocer has changed as has the grocery industry. What began as A&P when I first moved to Virginia Beach was followed by now defunct Farm Fresh. The current occupant of the space is the popular Harris Teeters. A now empty space was once occupied by a large Rite Aid drugstore that included a medical equipment section not available at the chain's other locations. I'm excited about what could move into the large space. The mix of businesses in the shopping center is quite convenient. It proves such value to me in both time & gas expended. I'm able to make multiple shopping stops in the same close location. One can find everything from a UPS store & ABC Store to health foods, hair salons, clothing discounter, jeweler, insurance agency & much, much more. On the north side of the center sits a Harris Teeters Fuel Center. On an out parcel is a Bank of America Branch Office, Over the years I've seen many businesses come & go. The explosion of popular spots moving to Haygood Shopping Center came after the facelift it received at the time of the Harris Teeters opening. The center has also served as a draw for businesses to open in the surrounding area, creating a veritable island of firms serving the northern area of Virginia Beach, Thank you Haygood Shopping Center for bringing popular & convenient businesses to our area.

I know one day I came in there and I was gonna get some NyQuil $30 that's ridiculous and they're using what's going on with this to hike up the prices and that's just not this all the Stores. Joann Fabric is no more, but a furniture store I haven't visited has moved into the space. I rarely visit Five Below, but when I do, I don't leave empty-handed. Outback sees my face every once in a blue moon. Several other businesses in the plaza would love to see you any time you're in the neighborhood. Parking is UNGH and I usually park farm from where I'm actually visiting.

Hopefully it will be completed "soon". Trader Joes and Petsmart seem to be the anchors here - there was a Kirklands but it is now closed and a few of the other stores have rotated on and off throughout the years but Petsmart and Trader Joes are here to stay it seems. In addition to the neighborhood, Great Neck Square is convenient for those coming north from the First Colonial medical corridor. It's directly adjacent to a sister shopping center Great Neck Village on the north. You can drive from one to the next without exiting to Great Neck Road. Harris Teeter supermarket anchors the center now. It' store occupies the space of the longtime Farm Fresh, whose chain went out of business. The shopping center contains a large variety of businesses that make for neighborhood convenience. You'll find a hair salon, dental office, orthodontic center, nail salon, book store, physical therapy center, credit union, business offices and more, including Ynot Italian restaurant & Plaza Azteca eateries. Longtime out parcel Hardee's sits facing First Colonial. Adjacent is a convenient new 7-Eleven. Out parcels of Great Neck Square & Great Neck Village have contained different restaurants or fast food over the years. I remember well quick trips through their fast food choices in the late 90's to pick up lunch for my son who was at Cox High School. Great Neck Square has received facelifts that have kept the longtime shopping center a feature of the current times. It isn't often that I currently do business in the shopping center that I pass so often. Hardee's is a convenient but high calorie breakfast stop if I've had to fast before testing or a procedure at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. 7-Eleven has been a welcomed fuel stop. Sometimes a quick stop at Harris Teeter fills a grocery need. For those who live in the neighborhood, Great Neck Square is a benefit. It's not a spot where I'll shop often.

Signage is on Great Neck. The lot is very large to accommodate a major grocer. Other than that it's a strip with small stores I've never shopped. A few out businesses are Hardee's and Dunkin Donuts. A new 7 Eleven is on the corner. On my last visit there was minor debris. The leasing agent is Breeden. I think they are one of the areas best.

I've got pharmacy items at RiteAid which has now closed and ice cream from Blue Cow. The center is dated, maybe 1970's. However, it's well maintained and clean. The entry points are Great Neck and Shore. It can be challenging exiting on Shore if making a left toward the Lesner Bridge. I will continue to use the Cape Henry Plaza.

Blue Cow Ice Cream, Rite Aid and Food Lion are among the plethora of different types of shops and eateries. All I have regularly frequented are high quality with excellent service. Others, such as Rite Aid & Food Lion provide offerings not otherwise found in this part of the Shore Drive corridor, making the shopping plaza a valuable resource for the area. The center occupies the southeast corner of the intersection of Great Neck Road & Shore Drive, directly across Shore Drive from the Delta Hotel. The entrance & exits are a bit tricky, depending on the direction one is approaching from. The traffic on Shore Drive & the lack of curb cuts on Great Neck make the entrance & exit choices something learned over time. Coming from the west on Shore Drive entrance should be from Shore Drive, after one passes through the intersection's traffic light. But exiting, if one is headed west, should be by Great Neck Road which has the advantage of a traffic light with turn lanes. The shopping center is clean, well kept & well lit, More handicapped parking spaces are needed, especially in the spaces closest to the always busy Hot Tuna.
