This is where I imagined the gods of golf sat as they watched me play. Today they smiled upon me and granted my golf balls safe passage.
    Mark S.

I really enjoyed playing here! The facilities and course are pristine. I am relatively new to the game, but am coming to realize that playing on well-manicured courses results in my being able strike the ball more effectively. I have also noted that balls roll with more consistency on well-cared-for greens. I have a relatively high handicap, so pars don't normally come often, but after a wanky start, I found my rhythm and started pull down a sizable number of pars--( 7 were documented my score card by the end of the round)...and I even snagged a birdie. Two blow-up holes destroyed my over-all score, but the sinking of long putts, the hitting of balls that would soar majestically through the ether-- then abruptly check-up after landing on the greens, made up for two snow men. The staff here is exceptionally friendly. They exude a caring demeanor and as professional and supportive as one sees on T.V when characters go to play golf at posh locations. Despite being kind-of a bougie place, the staff here is down to earth and very approachable. The nervousness that I felt at being a fish out of water--scared that I might be found out as major duffer amongst the elite-- soon dissipated as I felt more than appreciated and welcomed. This is a place that elevates the game--just like the one time I got bumped up to fly in first class, "One could really get-used to this." Once out on the playing fields, I came to very much love the lay-out of the course. For my skill level (capable of playing just better than bogey golf, I found the course to be relatively challenging, but not beyond reason. Neither the course, nor I would be broken this day--we found each other to be worthy opponents. I am relatively frugal and am always looking for a deal ($40 is the average amount that I spend for public course play) so spending $90 (off season rate) was a bit of a splurge. I kinda hate to admit it, but my cheap-arse self must now begrudgingly agree with those who say that "you get what you pay for." I had a blast and when asked to share what could have been done to make my experience on the course better, there was literally not a thing that the staff could have done to make it more pleasant. Unlike Mick Jagger, I was more than satisfied. It is certain that I shall be returning to play here again, and when that day comes, I will gladly shell out my skrilla--that's a slang term for, "money" that the cool cats are using today. (*Does invisible 6-shooter thing, then holsters his imaginary guns in his jeans' front pockets in a sad attempt to be cool) Anyways, I am very much looking forward to playing here again, as it was so worth it.

This golf course is nestled beautifully in the dessert surrounded by mountains and blue skies. The carts look brand new. Everyone at this course is helpful & friendly. Inside, the bathrooms are spacious, clean and have everything you could need especially as a female. I enjoyed sitting outside on one of the rocking chairs listening to all the birds around me as I waited for the tournament to commence. Did I mention how friendly the staff and is?

Our first round of golf in Arizona brought us to the Cattail course at Whirlwind Golf Club. We bought a Troon card and are choosing courses associated with that. We really liked the course. Coming from Minnesota, we were a little worried about narrow fairways and desert vegetation, however, most holes were rather forgiving. The fairways were nice and green and the rough was brown but the grass there was not very long. With the fairways being so tightly cut, it was often even a bit easier (for me) to hit from the brown areas. Not a ton of water and the sand traps were fair so I played with one ball until the last hole. The carts had GPS so it was nice to see distances and lay of the hole. There were not many blind shots so being new to the course, it was nice to know where you were headed. The twosome we were paired with were good partners, playing ready golf. We played 18 holes in just over 4 hours. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice experience.

I was greeted by one of the staff and I dropped off my bag, and helped me loading it on the golf cart. Great services. The course is in a very good condition when I was there. Perfect fairway. It was a very hot day. They put ice inside the cooler for guest to store their drinks. This is very nice of them. However, there is a big issue with bugs. There were lots of bugs when the weather started cooling down. I got beaten probably 50 time throughout my legs even though I sprayed my whole body with Off! I was so distracted by the bugs (they buzzed in my ears) in every shot. I could not focus when I hit! Please see my attached pictures (my legs were all swollen, and I have to go to CVS for medications immediately after my game). The bugs issue is so severe that I urge management to take care of it ASAP. I also saw rabbits and rats running around the golf course. Pest control is needed for this course!

Well kept course with great views. Have played both 18's now and they both present different challenges. You get to use every club in the bag which always makes for a fun round. Friendly staff that helped us out by squeezing us in because of a miscue by my buddy who never confirmed the tee time.

Played both Catail and Devil's Claw. Devils Claw I liked the best of the 2. Great course conditions. Golf carts were amazing with what felt like new cushions. Staff was super friendly. I played here twice over a weekend and one day at Ocotillo and Whirlwind to me wins hands down for enjoyment and experience.

Finally we were able to play the Cattail course. We usually play Devil's Claw which we like. I was expecting Cattail to be a bit more difficult course because of heresy, but not to the point where I just don't like it. It was ridiculously frustrating losing balls after what would've been decent shots at other courses. The first cut of rough along each side of the fairways were so deep (although it didn't appear so at first glance), but after the balls landed in them, you had to drive on top of them to spot them. Some we couldn't find. It was ridiculous and made for an unpleasant round. The greens were kind of slow, but I can deal with that. I for one wont be playing that course anytime soon if ever! It was my most unpleasant round at any Troon course. The course looked great, but that's about it. If you usually hit your drives straight, you'll have no problem. Otherwise, bring extra balls!

The courses and nice and maintained well! My favorite is Devils claw, although Cattail is fun too. I think Cattail is the more difficult of the two. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating.

I have golfed here many times. This course is on the Indian reservation which has a few hotels, casino and the outlet mall. There is a lot close by and places to stay. It sits right off I10 so it is easy to get to. The greens are medium speed, the fairways and rough are maintained on great schedule to keep any overgrowth from happening. The watering schedule is great so what should be green is green. The staff have consistently met my expectations. I have always had smiling courteous staff when I play here. I have played multiple charity scrambles here. The course staff take care of the organization putting on the events. They allow access to pretty much anything you could need. They have a conference center right by the Pro Shop so you can cater your event. Devil's Claw is a great course and will always recommend it.

The course was in great shape for the most part and the pace of play was ideal. There was no one in front of us or behind us pretty much the entire time. Food from the restaurant was decent. They provided a small "cooler" which is more like a small lunch bag for the drinks. The golf carts don't have coolers, which isn't a deal breaker, but a bit inconvenient especially since the lunch bag they gave us leaked and there wasn't a good spot for it in the cart. Regardless, we had a nice experience. We played all 18 holes and are excited to play again in the future!

So that's the mindset, something beyond the driving range but not a great test of my endurance. And most of all make it affordable since I may not make the round due to my injury and/or the heat. Played here in May. A friendly greeting by the staff. There was ice in the coolers and cart service as we made our round. This and the on cart GPS made it a very manageable time in the heat. The greens were in decent shape with some burn spots developing. Fairways were in okay shape but there were a few bald areas even this early in the summer. Overall this is one of the better executive courses I've played in the area. But measuring as a golf course, sub par. So take that into account.

It has been over 2 years since I first gave a review on Springfield Golf Resort. Not much has…read morechanged except my golf game and new clubs which I purchase from the Pro Shop after attending a series of Demo Days put on by manufacturers. And I have had the opportunity to golf at other locations since swinging my first club just months before my prior review. Springfield Golf Resort remains at 5 stars (Great) despite one negativity, inconsistant greens which is an important thing for golfers and the short game. I have seen my ball hop, skip, and jump to the hole at times, not break when it should and visa-versa. I have had missed shots due to crowns even around the hole and even role slightly back as slowly inching to the hole. But other than the greens sometimes a challenge, the greens are playable and Par's a plenty when you get used to their condition. But dont expect the PGA to come here for a tournament though. Beyond the greens, I love this executive course with so much potenial to be one of the best executive courses in the state especially for all levels with well defined fairways that offer a lot of variety and challenges in a good way to improve your golf and increase your enjoyment and golf experience. And most importantly, lots of opportunities for tree shade throughout the course for the warmer season known as hell. This course has the typical hazards of any course however the water and tree hazzards are only an issue to you if youleave the fairway in most cases. Bunkers are a different story in that they tend to congregate to the sides of the greens and a few in front here. The sand in the bunkers can at times be like hitting off soft dirt and can have poor drainage after a rain (yes that sometimes happens in Chandler) or after significant irrigating of the green/fairway; it is a non-issue if you avoid the hazard, lol. End up in the hazard and you pay the price. The people here are friendly and the staff have no equals from professionalism to friendliness in my opinion. And they do what they can to accommodate all sorts of situations to allow you to play and make it enjoyable. They have recently this year invested in new golf carts with GPS to help you range the ball to green which is noice. But it does also keep you from driving where they don't want to to go to get to your ball, again, if you leave the fairway so don't unless you like to walk. One complaint is that the mini-ice chest is super small and cant accomodate much once ice is added. The speed of play can at times seem at times slower during the week than on weekends. There are leages with mostly elderly people that play regularly during the week and this is in a 55 and older community so I found myself waiting to tee-off more during the week then weekend. Last weekday round had be 25 minutes behind normal pace of play. Rarely happens to that degree on weekends. But the staff and the new GPS carts try to mitigate slow play. They have an excellent, well marked driving range with 3 range ball bucket sizes to accommodate a short pre-round warm-up to a longer practice session at a reasonable rate. The green fees are creeping up there in price like everyplace else but remains one of the lower costs courses in Phoenix which is enhanced further by the offering of a seasonal punch cards that don't expire to help save you money and can be shared amongst others in your party. Don't forget to stop by the 19th hole after your round of golf to say hello to the very friendly staff and relax while enjoying food/refreshments and som sports on one of the many TV's. All and all, going to other courses, I have been spoiled by this one and Springfield Golf Resort serves as the basis of comparison.

The staff member inside the pro shop when asked a question in regards to the booking we had through golf now answered, and I quote, "I don't work for golf now." That was the start to our day. I was with three friends this particular day. We then went to the driving range and the putting area. Approximately 1/2 hour before our tee time. The starter yelled out our name and was rushing us to start. He had personality of a wet noodle and acted as if he was some kind of self-proclaimed cop. Then while, while golfing in 115° heat, the ranger comes with an attitude to complain and state that we are the slowest people on the course. Most of the individuals golfing that day were either parties of two or parties at one. I watched this ranger hand out water to several other golfers. This was not done for our party. During this extreme heat advisory day I did have to sit once or twice due to myself being dizzy from the heat. He could obviously care less of the situation while he's sitting his lazy buttocks in his golf cart under a shaded tree. I will be contacting the course and speaking to a manager personally. Due to this experience. I will be also contacting golf now to let them know of the experience at this course. I will also be posting as much as I possibly can on social media of my experience at this course.
