As a newbie golfer, I recently completed a series of five lessons with Gary at Hornacek's Golf, thanks to a friend's recommendation. We meet weekly in one of their simulator bays, and I can't believe how much Gary has improved my swing and grip in just one class. I've learned so much, and I highly recommend taking lessons with him. Each session runs around 45 minutes to an hour and costs $60, but if you purchase the series, it drops to $250--only $50 per class. Such a steal! Hornacek's has a huge selection of golf gear, from clothes to clubs and bags. They even have an amazing clearance section in the back, which I love checking out after my lessons. Greg at Hornacek's is the master club repair expert. That guy is so very helpful and takes time to explain how he goes about any repair. One day he took me in the back and showed me how he tests the shaft frequency to determine shaft flex and also how he uses same method for puring a shaft. I dropped in here yesterday (1/26) after a short but terrible range session. Was wondering around looking at the demo and the PGA Pro and owner (?) came over to see if he could help me. Told him I was browsing hybrids because I did not like the shaft in my Ping G425 5 hybrid. He had me hit his personal 4 hybrid with a 70 gram Senior flex shaft. Could tell the difference right away. He effectively gave me a little mini lesson with a couple of tips and offered to swap the saft in my club if they had one. They did so made the swap and no charge except for the cost of putting on a new grip. Now that's great customer service. They have several hitting bays with launch monitors and a wide selection of demo clubs to fit you. I highly recommend this place for great service, advice and selection. Larry is awesome! Got new grips on my clubs and he even offered to drop them off at my place after his shift when we found out we lived close to each other. A true goat. Had a busted left handed driver and was shopping for a new one. Went to several stores prior to coming here. Those places had limited options, high prices, and mediocre customer service This place had multiple options, a great price but most of all top notch service. The custom fitting led to a mini golf lesson and helped my swing immensely. Everyone that worked there were sincerely nice and helpful. My new drive is amazing and has reinvigorated my game. First class helpful and friendly service. Merchandise and selection are unique and unbeatable. Love seeing the owner John and his dog(s)* every visit. I stopped in today to purchase some Christmas gifts and called a last second audible inquiring if I could get into the Trackman and dial in my old set of clubs finding those yardages. Best money on golf I've spent this year. 3 or 4 strikes on each iron let me know my basic yardages. Money well spent saving me an entire afternoon stepping off endless yardages at the driving range & getting yelled at by golf course staff for walking onto range. read more

First time in this store and I don't know why!!! Guess I had the impression it was a boutique/specialty golf shop, but it's really for everyone!! Staff were helpful but also left me to browse & putt. I would like to give a big shout out to the staff at Hornaceks Golf. I purchase a Ping 425 Max driver one week ago. I did not have it fitted but had hit the identical club belonging to a golf buddy. After a week I knew something was wrong. Took the club to Greg who took the club back to the shop and measured and evaluated the shaft. Wrong one for me. Full explanation why. 45 minutes in the hitting bay with different shafts until we found the proper one. Checked with the owner on what the swap would cost. No charge. Hard to find customer service like that anywhere today. Highly recommend. Thanks to all involved. read more

Great Store for the Chandler community for all golfing needs. One thing a lot of people don't know is they have a lot of modern casual clothing, especially for men, available. Not easy to find these days! They have 4 state of the art golfing simulators to rent out for pretty cheap, and you can get your clubs fitted there, while playing virtually any course in the country. Unbelievably kind and efficient. My Son and Daughter surprised me on my 80th birthday by giving me our youngest Sons Ping golf clubs. Unfortunately he passed away in October at the young age of 50. This was such an emotional wonderful gift. In shipping the shaft on the driver was broken. I checked to see who near me repaired and found Hornacek's. I called and they said no problem it would be about a 48 hour turnaround and range $75 to $125. It wouldn't matter the cost I just wanted it repaired. Went to the store on Alma School since I live in Sun Lakes. Was meet up front by a very nice and friendly young Lady who asked how she could help and proceeded to take me back to the repair counter. There the gentleman at the repair desk asked what I needed. I explained the situation and he asked if I had rest of shaft. I said yes it's in the car but because of the sentiment of belonging to our Deceased Son I had made into a walking stick. Once retrieved the repair Gentleman said let me see if I have a replacement. I said no problem I can leave it to be repaired. A few minutes later he came back and said I have one. He then proceeded to replace it right then. I thought how wonderful and ask who do I pay. He said it's on the House. I was overcome with emotions and a few tears. What an incredible act of kindness for an old man celebrating his 80th Birthday. I am now a huge advocate for Hornacek's Golf and wanted to share the story and their act of kindness. PS. Played golf with the new and much better clubs but my score pretty much the same. Oh well at least knowing my late son played with is present enough. read more

Went here looking for shoes. Had been a couple of other places with minimal service. The owner worked with me and I apologize don't remember his name but he was very friendly and helpful. He brought out lots to try on and gave me good pointers on the different models. I didn't need to shop anymore and got a new pair. I will be back. Love to shop local versus the big chains. Supporting local companies is great especially when they have great service and selection. read more

Went in to get fitted for a new driver... first time in my 67 years that I've been fitted for golf clubs. Worked with Mark and was pleased with his knowledge and attention in getting me fitted with right club. Was offered five different Manufacturers' club heads along with several different shafts. This was the first time I purchased golf equipment without questioning myself later about whether I made the right choice. We wanted to try the golf simulator. We made a reservation and showed up on time Sunday morning. The staff wasn't very helpful and the hitting area was mostly unusable. When we asked about other options the staff said they didn't know how to turn on the equipment and weren't authorized even if they did. About 1 in 4 shots registered on the simulator. No value for $60 an hour. read more

I nice store with a good selection of everything you may need golf wise. I live close by and have been in numerous times to purchase various items and have repair work done and have always had great customer service from the various staff members I have dealt with until today when I happened to deal with the owner (John). Needless to say I will never be back after he became very defensive and refused to sell me two Scotty Cameron T22 putters I preordered and paid for 6 weeks ago at $100 over msrp to boot. All because I questioned him on why my putters were not available for pick up today as promised by his staff and Titleist, as today was the national release day. He said that Titleist didn't ship them til late yesterday, but then said his other store got theirs already. This never made sense and still doesn't as I explained that my son-in-law picked his up today from Van's (at factory Msrp of $599 and not the $649 that I was charged) and that eBay already had tons of them listed before today for resale, which means they had them days ago from the Titleist retailers. I just wanted to why mine seemed to be the only two in the USA not to get delivered on time. At that he accused me of being rude (I guess because I asked the question and wanted a better answer that what I was getting) and he abruptly told me he was refusing to sell the putters to me now and was going to refund the money that was paid to him 6 weeks earlier as that was his right as the owner (so there rude customer, I'll show you!) I will never be back and if you decide to go be sure to deal with another staff member as they were always nice and never touchy and short tempered. read more

I bought a second hand set of irons and a driver about year ago from Hornacek's as I thought I'd give this golf thing a try. I met a man named Gary who just blew me away with the time he spent on a customer buying the absolute cheapest golf clubs in the store. Yet, I walked out a happy customer feeling like a young Phil Mickelson with my new to me clubs... After months of swinging and getting real tired of yelling "fore!" I decided to take up Gary (just happens to be the best coach I've ever seen in any sport) on some lessons. I'm couple lessons in and what an incredible difference in my ability. I've since bought a brand new driver, 5 wood, 3 hybrid, irons all ping G400 (anyone thinking about a great set, this is it) at competitive prices which has really helped me get in the game with great equipment tailored to my swing. During these purchases although, I didn't even know the difference in the club, I never felt more secure in my purchases. Everyone I encountered made me feel part of the golf community (at least the Hornacek's Golf community) from the friendly greeting at the door to unbelievable customer service and can't forget to mention their super cool dogs!... I was playing in golf tournament this past Saturday and the Sunday before I broke the shaft on my driver. I ordered the specialty shaft online as no one had this shaft. I went to the guys at Hornacek's to install my shaft so0 I would have it for the tournament in Tucson. These guys are the best at club gripping and re-shafting and their prices are great. I brought it in when the shaft was delivered Thursday and they said they would get back to me when I could pick it up that afternoon. I got busy and I called and he said he forgot to call me he got busy and they were closing. I said i was leaving for Tucson and tournament the next morning, he said he would bring the club to his softball game near the shop and I could pick it up there. He saved the day. I drove the ball great with the new shaft and Mike( i think that was his name) went beyond the call of duty to make this customer very satisfied. I was fit for clubs by Cody and was very satisfied with the process. Cody answered all my questions, listened to my objectives in selecting a new driver and set of irons, and gave me great input on what he was seeing personally and through the tracking equipment they use. His concerns were to fit me the best he could and price of the final clubs selected was not based on what was best for the store but what he felt was best for my objectives. I went to Hornacek's today and was so so impressed!!! First of all...family business in Chandler!!! Hooray! I love golf...not so good, but love golf! I went into the putting "arena" today and practiced for a half hour. Everyone left me alone. It was AMAZING. When I finished...asked questions...ZERO hard sales pitch. They just wanted the best for me...not for their pockets! It was a respectful, kind, and affirming. Yes...I bought the same putter I've tried at the "chain" golf stores...but this was a completely different experience. So glad I waited! I am In the market for a new set of irons. Hornacek's was recommended by a friend a while back who said their service was great. My experience has been hit and miss. Today I went in to check out new irons. I brought my 7 iron that I am currently gaming to compare it to the new irons. I waited about 10 min before someone asked if I needed help (I was fine with that). The older fellow working was busy with someone and asked this young man to help me. I asked if I could hit this certain iron he said sure and said to pick out a shaft. While I was doing that the older man pulled him over and said something to the young guy. He walked back to me and said I could only try the club in the bay for 10 minutes then he would have to charge me 50 bucks for using the hitting bay! I was floored! I've never been treated like that in a store. No love for me today! I thought maybe I smelled....I was wearing shorts and a tee shirt. Maybe they thought I was homeless.... I told the kid, no, I'm good and I won't waste your time and left. (in my Mercedes). Needless to say I will not be back. read more
