I knew Diehl Feed South was close by. So, I decided to stop by. It was little like an Alice in Wonderland experience. Zoe the Cat peered at me atop a shelf by the front door - silently inspecting me, assessing my usefulness with the lazy blink of an eye, and immediately categorizing my character on behalf of her Proprietress as non-threatening, and thus free to browse the Wonderland that was her home. The store itself is just brimming from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. This is not a place for small children to run wild or adults who are cringe at one thing out of place. This is a place for folks who love slow shopping, almost forgotten small shops, controlled chaos, eclectic interests, hidden treasures, and all that celebrates the outdoorsy natural world. Diehl's has a little bit of this and that - from pets' treats and toys, to bird watching, feeding, and housing, to helping the bees and butterflies, to outside chimes, flags, and decorations, to gardening gadgets, to small animal feed, and more... I wandered the tiny aisles carefully, searching amid the crowded shelves like they were a Wonderland Maze - and cautiously because they are a bit precarious. Every inch and corner had something of curiosity or interest. I was there for a specific purpose though. Like Alice, I went down the proverbial Rabbit Hole, and began searching for my birdseed birthday treasure. With so much inventory, and so little knowledge of Finches, I decided to ask the Lady of the store for help. The Proprietress... well, you just need to meet her and chat! I was in the presence of an Elder who Knows Things and has the Power to Change the World for Good. She may be tiny in stature but definitely big in personality and full of Knowledge when you ask the Questions. She did not stop moving and working during my entire visit. Yet, she was very friendly and chatty as she multi-tasked, hefting heavy bags of feed and misc product around that weighed more than she did. She advised me on the selection of birdseed. We were supervised the entire time by Zoe, who must have deigned me worthy of her attention. I was allowed to offer pets and scritches, in between her sloe-eyed blinks. I believe Zoe knighted me a worthy Wonderland adventurer -- and paying customer. You will not hear any shrill shouts of a mad Queen spewing high prices or the annoying beeps of electronic bar codes being swiped. Rather, you'll have a lovely chat with a kind Lady at the counter, working hard beyond an expected age, giving you a Decent price, and silently offering a choice to donate to local charity at the counter with a jar collecting change. And yes, I found my specific birdseed and some feeders, with the delightful customer service by the Lady. I'll be back. I love shopping local and a good Wonderland adventure. Plus, I hear there are more cats! I need more Zoe pets and to meet the rest of her Wonderland party. ;)

They follow appropriate procedures for avoiding any cross contamination, required vetting, and administering meds when needed. They have supplies and cute items for your pets too and all purchases go back to supporting the cats care! They mainly take in strays and surrendered cats, so consider taking one or two home and give them the love they desire!

When we told him we'd been calling her "Mama," he rolled his eyes and said, "We have so many Mamas," like it was an inconvenience. When my friend offered to foster, he brushed her off, saying the dog would "probably get adopted quickly anyway" and that she could "maybe go on the website." He also made the whole intake process uncomfortable. I was sitting with the dog in my lap when he sat at a desk far away, asked for my ID (which my friend had to bring to him), and then slapped it back on the counter without a word. The entire time he was typing things in, he didn't explain what he was doing, what the next steps were, or even why he needed my info. I'm thankful they took the dog in, but the lack of kindness or communication really soured the experience. It shouldn't feel like a burden to bring in an animal who needs help.

I called to check their availability and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Shortly afterward, they called to let me know they could get me in even sooner, and I was thrilled to take the earlier appointment. When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the owner and then introduced to Ryan, who would be grooming Rocco. She took him back and let me know I'd receive a text when he was ready. When I came to pick him up, Rocco was happily playing in a playpen and having an absolute ball (pun intended!). The staff told me he did great and was a joy to work with. Before heading out, I took a quick look around the store. They have a great selection of organic dog food, treats, toys, and other pet supplies. I couldn't have been happier with Rocco's grooming. He looked fantastic, and the entire staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. It was such a positive experience from start to finish, and I'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

It was the perfect day to shop Four Muddy Paws, because it was National Shop Your Local Pet Store Day. Yes, that is a real holiday. I was so glad to be able to stop by and support the original FMP. Since I moved to Illinois, I am now a regular at their Edwardsville store. Sophia got two new bandanas, two small iced dog treats and one big Happy Barkday Cookie to celebrate her special day. When we did our morning walk, we took the big cookie with us. As we meet her neighborhood friends, we broke off a piece of the big cookie and shared her celebration. The staff was new to me, but I was happy to see they still provided the good customer service that Four Muddy Paws is known for. I may be a regular in E-ville now, but I'll still hold a special place in my heart for the Lafayette store.

The workers were also so friendly and when it was time to check out, I signed up for their rewards program and since it was our first time (and a birthday), they also gave me a small discount - which was much appreciated. Williamsburg was one place recommended to me. When I visited, I felt very good about the facility and people. The facility was very clean, well organized and staffed. Everyone seemed genuinely interested in the animals under their care. My dog certainly seemed to enjoy her stays (and for a time she was there more than she was at home). She came to know the staff and was always happy to see them. The staff knew her and always treated her so nicely. She was always happy to arrive and just as happy when I came home. While I no longer travel as much, Williamsburg remains the place I trust to take care of my dog. She always seems happy to see the staff and I've been very happy with the service I have received.

The cut is uneven, particularly around her face, which appears choppy and not well blended. Her paws were also not cleaned up to the standard I expected. The areas of greatest concern are her armpit and belly, which were shaved extremely close. Her skin appeared irritated afterward, and there is a small area on her belly that looks consistent with a minor nick from the blade. I spoke with management to address these concerns and am currently requesting a refund based on the result and condition of the grooming. Overall, I am not satisfied with the service provided. If you have a long-haired or double-coated breed, I recommend clearly confirming grooming expectations in advance.
