Excellent fast service. Food came about 7 min after ordering. Chicken fingers are huge and REAL chicken. Fries were crunchy on outside and soft in middle. Everything was hot and enjoyable. We've been several times earlier in the day, and the food and service were really good ,as In 4 stars good...however we have stopped by several times at 3:00 o clock and it seems like at 3:05 the kitchen practically shuts down as they start getting ready to close...our burgers were precooked, cold, burnt, and not worth what we paid for them, service was fine, but if they are going to close at 4, maybe they should continue to cook fresh food until they close... read more

I have rarely been to Hamburger Heaven for lunch. And it is not a place I typically frequent. But I do really enjoy their breakfast. I love that they offer Conecuh products and the quality is good. We needed to do something down 280, so I decided to suggest that for the family last weekend. I also really enjoy their hash cakes that come with breakfast combos. Unfortunately, they didn't have them. I won't ding them for that. They just can't get them right now with the shortages. Very unfortunate though. The sausage egg and cheese biscuit was on point. My wife got one of their bowls. Besides it being very small, she said she enjoyed it. My kids loved their pancake and french toast. All in all, it was pretty nice experience. The gentleman that helped us at the register was really friendly and was very patient while my kids couldn't decide. Solid 4 stars. read more

We normally visit Hamburger Heaven in the Irondale area. My kids were excited to see the one today on 280 while we were out.. needless to say this was the very first time we have been disappointed with a meal from Hamburger Heaven. The buns were stale, burgers were dry and even though we ordered different size burgers they all happened to be the same size. read more

I recently went on a drive-through hamburger kick and visited several local burger joints to see how the hamburgers would stack up. To my pleasant surprise, locally owned Hamburger Heaven seems to make among the best hamburgers, better than Five Guys and Culver's. The meat seems to be more fresh, and the same goes for the accompanying ingredients. This is NOT an "artisan, craft, gourmet, bespoke" kind of place. It's more of a greasy spoon. This place makes hamburgers and cheeseburgers in a messy old-fashioned style and that is just fine with me. The bacon cheeseburgers are great. Prices are reasonable for what you get. The presentation is nothing fancy, just a basic burger wrapper and a paper sack. This review is really just focused on the quality of the burgers. The fries here are nothing special; in fact, I'm sorry to say that the fries are not very good and should be better. They just do not taste as fresh as the burgers. Overall, I would judge hamburger heaven a good alternative to Milo's and a worthwhile destination all its own. I will definitely return here for burgers in the drive-through, which by the way was not too crowded and moved quickly. read more

Haven't stopped in for a moment, but seriously this place never disappoints. I've never had a complaint about the quality or quantity of my food. The sliders with corn nuggets is my go to, while my mother's is the 3 decker sandwich. I've never ordered anything and regretted it. read more

I've heard that this is just one of those places that you need to try and so we did. The hamburgers are good classic burgers cooked in a flat top griddle. The fries here are great. People had told us that we had to try their onion straws. We were expecting the thin kind but these were like thick petals and were just okay. I know that we will come back to try their breakfast soon read more

Do not listen to the naysayers, this place is amazing! There is a reason Hamburger Heaven has been around for 30+ years, and this location has been around for 25 years: they flat out make incredible burgers and fries. There is an old school style and flavor to their burger that you just can't get at Five Guys or Freddy's just down the street. I promise this place is better. My daughter got the chicken tenders with their homemade tender sauce and they were delicious as well. The right local establishments should always get our business before the faceless chains do, especially when they are far superior for the same amount of money. Go see Hamburger Heaven! read more

How can you not love Hamburger Heaven? A true Birmingham institution. Simple food, prepared fresh, great service, for about the price of fast food. They're not going to compete with some of the newer chains with $15 burgers and I'm glad they don't. You'll see retirees, business people, yard crews, and families all eating side by side. HH restores my faith in humanity every time I eat there. Hell yeah, Hamburger Heaven. Hell yeah. read more

Today i met a friend for a quick bite of lunch. The cheeseburger, fries, and diet coke were good until i looked up and saw how nasty the ceiling fans are all over the restaurant. If i had been the health department, I would've shut them down! It made me sick! With the pandemic and taking chances going into places to eat, this reinforced my need to eat at home. Hamburger Steak! This Birmingham based restaurant is pretty much what you would expect. Hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, etc. There are 5 locations, and they have been in business since 1982. The restaurant on Highway 280 was very busy on a Friday afternoon. The customers looked to be "regulars", and the brand must have a loyal following. I thought my hamburger and fries were fine, but not outstanding. The special sauce was okay. But wait a minute, my friend ordered the Hamburger Steak. It looked great, and I will definitely order that next time. It is a large hamburger patty covered with brown gravy and grilled onions. It served with fries and toast. Food tastes decent however the cleanliness and staff attitude makes your meal not desirable. On my last visit I ordered a club. The food tasted okay however $9 for a sandwich is not the value based on the experience. 1st - The bathroom was a disaster. Smell, horrible mess, etc. I told the staff. They honestly laughed. 30 minutes after I told the staff. They had not addressed. 2nd - The same manager who ignored my request about addressing the bathroom (bigger guy, bald) never looked at or talked to their customers. 3rd - Hair in food. read more

Tried to order my go to food chicken n waffles at 1034 am. Fat un customer savy guy said, " oh no we just didn't turn the sign around, we are doing lunch." I had a soggy excuse of a burger salted fries glore and a flat root beer Ya, if this is a local favorite it sure isn't mine. I will not be going back. I would give 3.5 starts for benefit of the doubt. The food definitely deserves 5 stars. ESPECIALLY THE SWEET POTATO FRIES, but the staff is lacking in certain areas. My order is wrong every time I get it in some kind of way, so for the sake of your mood check your order before you leave the drive-thru. 10/10 times they will forget your sauces- no doubt about it. I love Hamburger Heaven, but yall gotta step it up. read more

Every once in a while, I just have to go there. They serve other things besides burgers but who the hell goes to Hamburger Heaven for anything but hamburgers? Onion rings and fries are good, too. But the coup de grace are the milkshakes. Yum. One word of caution. Do not go here before going to your physician for an annual checkup. He'll look at your bloodwork and have a coronary himself. Consider HH to be the occasional treat rather than a place to visit once a week. Otherwise, you'll be dead in three or four years. read more

I did it again. My idea was to take some pictures of my meal to post onto Yelp. Before I realized that I had no pictures, my meal had vanished. There is some chemical reaction in my brain that when a delicious hamburger is placed in front of my, that normal reasoning and problem solving disappears and primal tendencies forth come. I attacked this burger with the furry of a lion on a gazelle and before I knew it...the meal was finished. I will have to come back here again in order to better serve you, my readers, for pictures of a Hamburger Heaven meal. Don't bother looking at other pictures...just wait for mine. That way I have to go back to serve you. Seriously, I love this place. It's a good burger. They have their own special sauce that is tangy and delicious. I use it to dip my fries in, too. They have good onion straws and milk shakes as well. They have other options besides the burger, but I wouldn't waste my time. Be careful though, as addiction can set in if you are not careful. This is one of several Hamburger Heavens in the Birmingham metro. They are all great and run by the same guy (as far as I know). There are lots of options on HWY 280, but this is one quality place. I used to frequent this place years ago but eventually felt like the meat was not as good as other places. I went back this week because my mom and sister had both been and loved it. I got the slider special and everything was PERFECT. Burgers were delicious and cooked perfectly! Fries were great and the sweet tea was just right...not too sweet. I went back for lunch the next day. Same! I will make the trip many more times. Best burgers I have had in awhile. Wish I had returned sooner!! read more

Ate here today around 12:30 and the tables are nasty. I had to clean our table. Brought it to the attention of the cashier and still no one has been out to clean the tables. It's now 12:55 and another customer just asked for a rag to clean his table. Just for reference we typically eat here once a week although it used to be much more frequent. read more

You have to try the Cheeseburger sliders! While hamburger heaven is known for their traditional hamburgers you have to try their other items that I feel are better. Their chicken fingers are on par with Full Moons and are a very generous portion. The chili is fantastic. My new love is the Cheeseburger sliders. 3 small version of the traditional hamburgers. I had a burger here once and probably will never again. Growing up in Cali with In n Out will ruin you for burgers elsewhere. I will say the BLT here is one of, if not, the best I have had. Perfect proportions of bacon to freshly chopped lettuce to ripe tomato and the perfect amount of mayo. If you like a good BLT this place will not let you down. Ambiance won't blow you away it's very much your basic local diner with Bear and Nick adorning the walls. If you rolled in sporting a top bun and yoga pants you might be over dressed which isn't a bad thing. read more

Skip this one. Traveling home on I 20 not wanting another major chain burger so drove 10 miles off course for a homestyle juicy burger. Saw the pic on the menu and thought it looked decent. Called the order in and ask for mayo instead of mustard. All good. Then got the anemic looking burger. Nothing but messy ketchup cheese pickles and a tiny piece of meat. Like a child's burger. No tomatoes or lettuce. And the fries were inedible. Limp and saturated with GREASE. Wouldn't even feed them to our dog. And this meal cost us close to 20 bucks. It sure ain't no heaven burger and I don't know why anyone would eat there. Hubby said at least we'll be hungry for dinner. We press on. read more

First, the basics. Place was squeaky clean. Young lady at the register was friendly and knowledgeable. I told her it was my first time and she was patient and explained the different burgers. We were quickly greeted by the hostess and was seated in the bar area. If you'd like to watch sports, this is definitely the place for you because they probably have about 50 TVs in there. It seemed like. Lily Grace was our server and she was very attentive. We started off with the top shelf, Margarita, which was very delicious. I got the cheeseburger sliders with a side of french fries and my dinner date. Got the Louisiana platter. This is his go to dish when we come here. The cheeseburger sliders were very delicious and they were a perfect size. The restaurant was very clean and so were the bathrooms. This is my second time at this location and both times have been very good. I didn't have it this time around, but their Krispy Kreme bread pudding is delicious.

The bartenders were and always are friendly and efficient, you wait for nothing. It appears I will be in this area weekly for some time to come. The way things worked out, this trip was supposed to be a quick-short stop. So we got the bar and couple cocktails to finish up our day. Seeing a couple appetizers being passed near...and after a couple Good People Snake Handlers, they were looking really good. The Back 40 Brewery Man was onsite giving samples. So one of my group broke with leaving quickly and ordered what I think is some of the best fried alligator I have ever eaten. So after a couple of fingers of good Scotch, we all sampled a cup of Red-Beans and Rice. Delicious I had to leave and got a couple of these signature burgers to go. I got the double bacon cheeseburger & Hangover Burger all the way this. These were both delicious

The not good: the service. We had 2 servers on a Sunday afternoon. The first was very good. The second was non existent. The manager had to come take our orders and refill water. The menu has limited vegetarian options - extremely limited. I got the quesadilla and asked them to hold the meat. But it was insanely filled with cheese like to the point I thought I was going to choke on a blob of cheese. Just not a place to come if you're hungry and don't eat meat. I'd come back for a beer and to watch a game. But I wouldn't plan to eat here. A veggie burger option would go a long way here.

The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very nice with indoor and outdoor seating. We all were very impressed with our meals. We got the chicken tenders, blackened fish sandwich, the club sandwich and wings as a main. Also got an order of mozzarella sticks. All were amazing with the only one negative is the wings were not very crispy but still very tasty. Would definitely go back.

The food was as good as we remembered it being at Riverchase. We will definitely go back, but we will sit a little farther down the bar so those who wander won't feel like we are taking their space.
