This bar was pretty crappy... Didn't have a local brews on tap which should've been a sign but the sunday night bartender was not good at all. Asked for reposado for 2 different shots and both times I was given Blanco and I specifically tried to make sure we got reposado the second time and I'm guessing he just didn't know what that was... Asked 2 close out like 3 times while he was reading someone's palm or something and the worst was I ordered 2 shots when I first got there and he got them and walked away while I was trying to add 2 more for our group of 12 people which was everyone in the bar and he walked to the register and turned and said are we good and I said no I want to add 2 more shots and his response was "I didn't ask you if you wanted more I asked if you were good." The only reason I came back that night was to buy one 1k in antiques that day..I could have spent some serious cash at this bar... I was not billigerant. Bartender gave horrible service and had an attitude the minute my friend and I walked in the door, like we were a bother to him and his normal "regular crowd". He got my friend's drink wrong because he was too busy talking to someone else to at least listen for a second. Gave nothing but smart mouth comments when we were finally able to flag him down WHILE SITTING AT THE BAR to get out credit card to leave. If I could give zero stars, I would. Cecilia is extremely unprofessional and very rude. I have been a customer here multiple times, but this is my first experience with Cecilia. She explained to me that my ID was not me when she didn't even glance at it then I gave her my two old back up ID that I still have and my debit and credit cards that I have in my wallet I don't know what this woman's problem was, but I feel like she had a personal vendetta against me because I am an attractive woman. If I was Troy the owner, I would very consider letting this person go. All of the patrons in the establishment were also very disappointed with her behavior, and everybody said how rude of a person she is on a regular basis I will make sure to tell everybody that I know I own a small business, and everybody will know how rude this person was, and how they should never attend this business ever because of the disgusting behavior. Their network went down and instead of admitting that, spoke to at least me as if my card was declined and it was not. /Then the male bartender handed me a bill for twice what I had consumed. I refuted it and he said, oh, it's all on the receipt...so I left. The earlier bartendress, i had been there at shift changed, then came out while I was in my car leaving and said I had hit the car in front of me and that it was her car and she had it on camera and I would have to give her my insurance info . I knew this not to be true so I aasked to see the film and she would not arrange it. i know she was just trying to gain leverage about me busting them about the overcharged. She continued that I was drunk. So I sat in my car and drank water in case I was over the limit. She came out with her boyfriend and they drove away in another car--it was never her car! She was just trying o run a scam on me. Oh, so I took photos of my car and the other car and while i was doing that and she had come out with her boyfriend, she put her butt up in front of the other car and told me to photograph it. The bartender Gene had an attitude the second I sat down at the bar.... I was DD and drank water the entire time and made rude comments to me every time. He took like 30 minutes to get flagged down by my friend at an empty bar while he chatted with friends. At one point my friend tried to order more drinks and he pointed to me... DD.... And said I was stumbling and wouldn't serve me.... I knew he hated me for no reason from the beginning so his lie that I was drunk solidified it. Horrible experience. I know this is a dive bar but don't dive bars usually have fun/respectable bartenders? Jean or Gene (not sure of the spelling) was the bartender last night during my horrific experience. Mind you, I have lived in Martinez my entire life and have been going to this bar for years, and this is not my first negative encounter with Jean. He spilled my truly all over the front of my lap and down the counter and as I was cleaning up the mess frantically he did not even try to help or say sorry or offer to get me another drink. I gave him a few minutes before asking if I could get another drink while i was cleaning up the mess - but I was ignored. At this point i was extremely frustrated so I asked again for another drink and told him that he spilled mine all over me. When I finally got his attention he tried to say that I was the one that spilled the drink on myself and said that I was drunk and that the cameras saw everything. We went back and forth for a few minutes and he was completely rude and wouldn't give me a replacement drink or say sorry and said he was not the one who spilled the drink on me and reiterated that the camera saw it all (he was very paranoid about that camera). Nice dive bar in Martinez. You can walk here from the Amtrak station and to other local bars if needed. Open from 6a-2a (like 6a?! ...apparently for the refinery workers when they get off work). Great bartenders, juke box with HUGE selection, genres of music. Pretty decent sized bar, strong drinks, decently priced. They provide free popcorn. I was excited to check this place out but as soon as I stepped in it was a whole different atmosphere. There was a female bartender who was giving me and my group the stink eye. The male bartender was a little nicer. Local customers were also a bit rude. Then a female customer (looked like a regular) sort of attacked my friends by accusing them of sexually harassing the women (which was a complete lie). A good, generally clean, dive bar. I've been here twice, once on a Thursday night and once on a Friday afternoon, and was quite comfortable both times. Like most bars of this caliber, it appears to be the place the locals hang out. The drinks are stiff, the bathrooms clean, and the company colorful. I do have to dock it one star since they did not have either Bushmills or Sky vodka. Although they did have adequate substitutions. The bartenders were quick and responsive. Despite their otherwise casual attitude, they appeared to have a good handle on the bar and its clientele. They also have an internet enabled jukebox, which I am told one can control from their smart phone. However, I would think twice before loading it up with Appellation yodeling or Tuvan throat singing. If you wish to hang out with the salt of the earth, this is he place. Dive bar right downtown with ample parking within one block and colorful locals make this a favorite for some, but not me. I met in the half empty place for a first date around 6pm mid week and sat at the bar. The wait staff ignored us for over 20 minutes while pouring for all those around us. So I had been to this bar in the past when I was alone and got decent service. I brought my friends from out of state in, there wasn't room for the 4 of us to sit together at the bar so we sat at a high top. We were ignored for quite some time, so 2 of us walked up to the bar to order where we were ignored by not one but both bartenders. Eventually one hurried us through our order. My friend wanted a shot of hot damn and he told her he didn't have it and walked away. We could see the bottle on the shelf, when he finally came back she reiterated she wanted hot damn which he dismissed until we pointed out the bottle. He rudely pressed for payment immediately even though he was in no hurry to help us. I felt so embarrassed that my friends were treated so rudely. Well another day at this bar...and yes, another day the hooter girls showed up giving away free shots. Was in there 15 minutes and low and behold....guess who waltz's in.....Jay Lo and Fergie Ferg. Apperently they were doing a Diet Coke commercial near by at the train station and needed a refreshment. We all ended up doing Irish Car Bombs (Yeager Bombs Irish Cousin)! M Night Shyamalan must have been directing the commercial because he came in 5 minutes later.....really down to earth guy.... About 35 midgets came in (part of the commercial also I suspect) after him and all ordered Coors light Tall Boys and started to have a beer shot gun contest, which of course Me, M Night and Fergie and JayLo jumped in also.....JayLo won.... In the patio out back, as all of this was going on, I kept hearing a "THUD!....THUD!...THUD!" Fergie and I went to see what was what.......Yup, a midget throwing contest was-a-going on....... Great dive bar downtown. A few of my friends and I frequent here a couple nights a week to grab a beer. Always clean, always get good service, and always got some free popcorn! No reason to complain. Back area is nice to sit around the table to have a blast. They just had a promotion where if you get a shot of Fireball, they donate half the proceeds to charities that help the wildfire victims.
