Begrudgingly I went along; not quietly but more "respectfully pissy" i would say. Navigating our large van in the parking lot we still couldn't find the business. I started bitching about the crummy location, poor signage and how I just wanted a cup of quality coffee. That life shouldn't be this hard on a Saturday morning. Where is this coffee roasters shop? Finally: We located and walked into Candlestick... ...and POOOF !!! We meet (and want to marry) Zach! The enthusiasm, passion, knowledge, mission and love this guy has for his craft is amazing. This place definitely falls into the first category. This morning I went with the single origin Guatemala drip, and it was exactly what a solid cup of coffee should be. Smooth, rich, and balanced with a nice chocolate note that hangs around just long enough to make you take another sip. No bitterness. No burnt taste. Just a clean, well-roasted cup that says someone here actually cares about the beans. The shop itself has a personality, which I always appreciate. It's decorated with fishing lures, fish artwork, and sculptures scattered around the place. Naturally this leads to the obvious conclusion: the owner is either an avid fisherman... or coffee roasting is just the side hustle between trout expeditions. Either way, the theme works. The space feels relaxed, creative, and comfortable. The kind of place where you can sit with a cup and not feel rushed out the door.
