We called the campground and unbelievably, they answered that late. Sandy agreed to stay there until we got there. Mike met us on his golf cart and toured us to 3 sites and let us pick. He then used his 30 years of mad trucking skills to get us into a tight site at dusk. He was awesome. We were in before it was completely dark. Full hookups including cable. Lovely neighbors. Pet friendly. We asked to stay 3 nights and they were able to work some magic to avoid having us move. What a stress reliever! The next morning they had a pet parade - all the dogs dressed to the nines! Fun! Thank you Sandy and Mike For taking the stress out of our last minute issue - right down to nothing!! You guys rock! We didn't use the heated pool but looked inviting (-and verified it was in fact warm!) Peeked at the activity center and laundromat- both looked good! The property manager, Chasity B, was onsite often and was just lovely. You can tell that this property is owned and operated locally by the attention to detail including the landscaping and little touches like beach chairs and coolers. We will be back next year without a doubt. We loved the St. Thomas room on the second floor. Had the opportunity to see the Cayman Suite...newly renovated and lovely.

Located in Vero Beach,…read morejust minutes from the beach, Orchid Island Cottages consist of six two bedroom, 1 bath cottages. Each cottage has a kitchen, living room/dining area. At 775 square feet, there is plenty of room to spread out. Staying at the Orchid Island Cottages is kind of like staying at a friend's house. It is homey and comfortable, but not too luxurious. The furnishings are simple, but comfortable. There is one television in the living room. The kitchen looks remodeled. It has everything you would need including cups, silverware, pots & pans. The only thing it did not have was a microwave. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, a large chest of drawers, and a closet. The second bedroom had two twin beds and a very small chest. The mattress and linen were not high end, but were acceptable. It was really nice to have two bedrooms. The worst part about the cottage was the bathroom. First of all, it was so tiny and there was hardly any room to my my toiletries. Second, the bathroom really just needs to be modernized. The tub is cracked, the water overflowed, and the old shower head sprayed water all over the place. I did appreciate all the towels, including beach towels available. The grounds of the place are lovely. In the front is a pool. It is small but it was perfect for our group of four families and the many kids who were with us. There is also a barbecue by the pool that guest are welcome to use. The back of the cottages open up to a back yard with lots of trees. The 11 and 12 year old boys enjoyed played tag and hide & seek, running around the entire property. Overall, this is a unique type of place to stay. At $150 a night, it was well priced, especially for all of the room we had. I just really recommend a bathroom renovation! However, if you want a place that is quiet with lots of room, and close to the beach, Orchid Island Cottages may be for you.

We arrived late, around 9pm after we stopped for dinner in Vero. The Orchid Island Cottages are located on the beach side just off of A1A south of route 60. There are 3 buildings (duplexes) that surround a pool. Each unit is a 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom unit. They have a full living room, full kitchen a dining room and a porch with chairs on it. There are actually only 5 units available to stay in. The pool and the pool deck also has a gas BBQ available. We stayed here with our 2 boys while other friends has 3 of the other units (we were in Vero for a lacrosse tournament). It was nice, quiet and private. Our unit was nice, clean and very functional. There was only 1 TV in the living room which I think they should upgrade along with adding a TV to at least the master bedroom. The master had only a queen bed while the 2nd bedroom offered 2 full size beds. The beds were comfortable but the sheets were high quality & soft but should be replaced sometime soon (there were a couple of holes in one of the sheets). I really enjoyed this place and we will not hesitate to stay here next time we are in town.

There aren't staff on premises, the office has a sign that says "call us" if you need something and I gather there are people staying on site as kind of resident managers. We were also surprised that after checking out we were billed for electricity.

The first month I was there the cops were called 10 times at night for a screaming crazy person that was not even the lease that stole packages and tried breaking into peoples apartments all hours of the night. When I first moved in the apartment wasn't even clean and had a bug/roach problem. It looked like the apartment had been vacant as the fridge/freezer had bugs and roaches in it. The pest problem persisted and had to fix it myself after their pest guy that came would leave notes and said he took care of it when they didn't. The maintenance staff was nice but not great in their execution. I had a broken dishwasher that hardly worked and rusted all my dishes/utensils that they continued to try to fix with no luck. They finally brought a new one from another apartment but scratched the floor up from the kitchen to the front door. It's billed as a gated community but the front gate never works so its left open which isn't a big deal but decent sized homeless community would wander in as they have some under the overpass by the pond and then a tent community by the water at the turn of US 1. Last but not least I had been moved out for over 6 months when I finally got a bill in the mail for charges that they said I didn't owe any when I moved out. I was given no reason for the charges and just sent to a debt collection agency without contacting me. Do yourself a favor and don't live here.
