This…read morelocation was chosen purely because it was halfway between both groups of people coming (in between Montreal and New York). If you are arriving there after work try to get there before it gets dark because finding the location in the mountains was quite tricky at night. THE CHALET: The Lodge has a few chalets and a main lodge with rooms. We rented out Chalet Wolf which sleeps 12 guests for 3 nights. It was only $200 per night and we had 10 people. The chalet itself was a lot bigger and nicer than we expected, the photos on their website does not do it justice. It has 3 stories, large parking space (can fit 3 cars). The kitchen was huge with all the equipment you will need, also had a BBQ on the patio. There 2 baths + 1 washroom, and many rooms with beds, it comfortably slept the 10 of us. AMENITIES: The lodge itself has a restaurant/bar where you will often find the owner, and his friendly Dalmation. There is a pool (not heated), pool and ping pong tables at the bar, a basketball and a tennis court. There is a small lake in walking distance, where you can ask the owner for his canoes, kayak and pedal boat (all free of charge). The lodge is surrounded by lots of space, we think it used to be a ranch of some sort, where we tossed around a frisbee. SERVICE: The owner is Polish and we believe he manages the business with his family. He is extremely friendly and helpful. We asked him for things like a large pot (to cook curry) and he got it for us right away. LOCATION: The location is right at the Adirondack mountains. We did not go exploring but it is a very quiet and spacious cottage country. There are also hiking trails but you need to drive there (~5km away). There is also a town not very far away where you can buy groceries but everything closes very early. The only complaint would be the amount of mosquitos/flies. It can be very overwhelming. We continuously drenched ourselves in mosquito repellant and wore clothing to cover but even then the deer flies (or whatever they are) had a good feast with us. The bites can get very irritating. All in all we had a lot of fun at this trip and best of all it was very affordable for the quality of the stay. I would definitely recommend for a large group of friends or families to stay at Chalet Wolf. They also have smaller and bigger chalets.

Next time we stay we will be bringing sleep masks. Water pressure was great! Super hot water too. The staff are all extremely friendly and warm. They even had our chalet ready for us 4 hours early. We had dinner at the lodge one night. It was amazing! The Italian wedding soup...I had 3 bowls. My husband loved the cutlets and the chunky mashed potatoes were so delicious. And it was enough to feed an army. Everything is home made and extremely fresh. Comfort food. We also had breakfast the day we left. The pancakes were sensational. Bacon, eggs...absolutely delicious. There are a lot of bugs. A lot. Bring bug spray. The lake is absolutely beautiful and clean. Be prepared it is a steep short walk down a hill. My mother got winded on the way back up (she is a smoker). We ended up driving a little further down the road to a spot where we could drive up to so she wouldn't be left out. We will definitely be back. We really liked not being in Lake George which is a tourist trap. It was quiet and we had beautiful weather so we were able to be outside a lot. We loved the charm of the place as well as the staff. We loved having our own private house and the price is unbeatable. We packed (almost) everything we needed so we wouldn't have to do the long drive to town. Of course I forgot batteries and we had to do it. After we checked out we ended up heading to lake George to waste time and avoid traffic. It was so overwhelming and overstimulating after being in such a serene place at the lodge that we couldn't wait to leave. Thank you for such a great relaxing stay. We can't wait to be back!

I am honestly baffled by the low rating for Antigua Resort until I actually read the reviews. Then…read moreI became baffled in an entirely different way. Two of the seven reviews are one star complaints from guests who cancelled at the last minute and were unhappy that the resort retained their non refundable deposit. The paperwork very clearly explains the cancellation policy, including exactly how much of the deposit is refundable depending on when you cancel. Complaining that a business followed a policy you signed acknowledging is a rather impressive form of hypocrisy. Fortunately, the resort itself is considerably easier to understand. We have been visiting Lake George for approximately twenty years, and my wife and her family have been coming since the 1980s. Somehow, despite all those decades of experience, this was our first stay on the eastern side of the lake. That turned out to be a very happy accident. The east side is quieter, less developed, and dramatically less commercial than the village side. It feels peaceful in a way that the busier parts of Lake George simply cannot. Antigua Resort sits on Plum Point, and the setting is absolutely beautiful. We spent a week in Suite #5 and loved it. The resort is not luxurious, and anyone arriving expecting a five star hotel is going to be disappointed. That is like complaining that a canoe does not have a swimming pool. Antigua is a clean, comfortable, well maintained lakeside resort whose greatest amenity is the lake itself. Suite #5 has a wonderful picture window overlooking Lake George, which was the primary reason we selected it. Once we arrived, however, we discovered that virtually every accommodation on the property enjoys a lake view, either through a window or from a private porch. The Lakeside Suite, Suite #5, and the Boathouse have the closest and most dramatic vantage points, but you are going to see Lake George from pretty much everywhere. Our suite had a main bedroom where our boys slept, with one double bed and one twin, plus a smaller secondary bedroom with a queen. There was a small but clean bathroom and a kitchen stocked with everything we needed for the week. There are also both gas and charcoal grills available for guests, which made preparing an occasional meal wonderfully easy. But nobody comes to Antigua for the kitchen. You come for the water. There is a small, well maintained beach with a designated swimming area and floating platform. Guests can also use kayaks, canoes, and rowboats at no additional charge. It is the sort of place where children can disappear onto the water for a while and parents can actually relax because everyone is having a good time. Then there is the observation deck on top of the boathouse. My oldest son decided this was his personal headquarters for the week and spent literal hours up there. From that vantage point, on a clear day, you can see all the way from Dome Island down toward Lake George Village. Steamboats regularly pass by, along with an endless parade of private boats. It is an extraordinary place to simply sit and watch the lake. It also turned out to be one of the best places to watch the weekly fireworks from the Village. Every Thursday evening during the summer, Lake George Village puts on a fireworks show, and the view from the boathouse observation deck was fantastic. There is also live music on the beach with a campfire every Monday and Thursday. Add the sound of the lake, the mountains, a fire on the beach, and a guitar playing somewhere nearby, and you have arrived at a very different definition of entertainment than you get at a resort surrounded by commercial attractions. Anne, the owner, was another highlight. She was regularly out and about on the property, often accompanied by her two exceptionally friendly dogs, Ranger and Lucy. She clearly takes an interest in the guests and the property, checking in to make sure things are running properly without hovering over everyone. That is really what Antigua gets right. It feels personal. There is no giant lobby, no endless hallway, no anonymous hotel operation. You know where you are. You know who is taking care of the place. You can walk down to the beach, grab a kayak, sit around a campfire, watch the boats, or spend an hour doing absolutely nothing. And doing absolutely nothing on Lake George is vastly underrated. After twenty years of visiting this lake, we discovered that we had been missing an entirely different side of it. The east side's peace and quiet turned out to be exactly what our family needed. We all loved the slower pace and lack of commercial bustle. Antigua is not fancy. It does not pretend to be fancy. What it offers instead is clean and comfortable accommodation, friendly ownership, free boats and kayaks, a beautiful beach, spectacular lake views, family friendly activities, and one of the most peaceful settings we have experienced anywhere on Lake George. We will return.

Lovely, well-kept grounds with lawns and gazebos for reading and thinking, and a sandy swim beach and playground for children. Tall pines smell divine. Great views of the lake from all the rooms/suites. And the owners keep it just right for adults and children. Our 2 bedroom suite was perfect and featured Pickwick paneling which reminded me of our family's cabin in Maine. Cozy yet airy!! Highly recommend!

The room she gave me had a view of the parking lot. I indicated the room was advertised as having a partial lake view. She didn't offer anything else except to give the number of a reservation manager. I called and texted that number with no response. The number listed on Expedia was for the Sundowner. I called that number with no response. I ended up turning in the keys and working with Expedia to try to get a refund. Customer service is terrible!

Normally I would have stuck it out for the two days that we were booked BUT we had our one year old daughter with us and there was NO WAY in hell I'd let her sleep in her pack and play on that disgusting floor. I'm so beyond words disappointed. There's truly no excuse for this sort of negligence of such beautiful property. Parents be warned, pictures are misleading.

The bathroom was fully sized with a shower head that had very good pressure. There was a nice kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator, two burner stove and all the kitchen utensils/pots you will need. There were four solid, Adirondack chairs surrounding a fire pit that included, dry cut wood. Also, a picnic table that at night we played cards on. The location was a five minute drive to all the shops and the beach. It was very convenient to everything in the area. The pool was very clean and refreshing. My 11 year old loved it had a deep end so he cannonball into it. Plenty of chairs to sit out and spread on. I also have to mention Chris and Amy, two of the property keepers that keep the place wonderful looking and make sure you have everything you need. Chris even offered to start a fire for me. I would highly recommend this establishment.
