I booked the Motel Montreal on Expedia. The room was advertised as having a partial lake view. When I checked in at the Motel Montreal, the front desk clerk said to follow her and she walked me to the front desk at the Lake Haven hotel next door. The room she gave me had a view of the parking lot. I indicated the room was advertised as having a partial lake view. She didn't offer anything else except to give the number of a reservation manager. I called and texted that number with no response. The number listed on Expedia was for the Sundowner. I called that number with no response. I ended up turning in the keys and working with Expedia to try to get a refund. Customer service is terrible! read more

I don't write bad reviews, I just don't and especially not for family owned places but this is something different entirely. This place is outdated and not taken care of. Photos are misleading, there was moldy spot on the mattress topper which was just sitting there exposed for us to see when we got there. Carpet hasn't been changed in probably 30 years. Stained beyond belief. Spiders crawling on the walls. Sheets were wrinkled which really made me question how clean they were. We ended up leaving that same day. Normally I would have stuck it out for the two days that we were booked BUT we had our one year old daughter with us and there was NO WAY in hell I'd let her sleep in her pack and play on that disgusting floor. I'm so beyond words disappointed. There's truly no excuse for this sort of negligence of such beautiful property. Parents be warned, pictures are misleading. read more

Stayed at this motel this past weekend, we booked the one bedroom king suite. The room was adorable, decorated like a small cabin. Full kitchen, stocked with pots, pans, utensils and cleaning products. Room was immaculate, the staff is lovely. Pool was very clean and maintained. I will definitely be back. read more

When I was looking for a place to stay I came across this motel, many places were already booked or much more pricy, after reading the reviews we decided to try it out. We stayed in a king bed room, it was the only room that had a sign above the door called "The Cowboys Room"??? When we walked into our room it had a musty smell and was very outdated ...ok we can deal, the we tried to open a window, which then would not shut, thankfully my husband is handy and managed to get it closed with a tool. The bed was flat and old, the rug was stained, and the bathroom was so small we could not move around in it, we are not huge people. The bathroom sink had no room to put anything, no shelves, no space at all. Just a tiny sink with no ledge. The air conditioner would turn off at night making it very warm in the room. Around 11-12 every single night someone would drag stuff under our window waking us up...maybe trash. You can also hear every footstep from the people above. The carpet was also not vacuumed around the backsides of the end tables or table and there was other peoples trash there. The towels are very old and harsh. As far as room service, we only requested it one of the 4 days we were there, they made the bed, freshened the towels (as requested), but did not empty our trash. Last there are no quality blinds or light filtering curtains on the windows, just 3 flimsy curtains that you can barely close, we had to lift it off the center rod holder to even be able to close them. There is no full length mirror in your room just the bathroom mirror, also the hairdryer is in a spot where the cord is short and barely reaches the one mirror-bring your own! On the positive...the location is great, we could walk to everything, the parking was easy and the price was low. We vacation often, we have stood in many bed & breakfasts, Air Bnb's, hotels & motels...this by far was one of the worst, and we are far from luxury snobs and really just like a clean room and comfy bed with a few simple amenities. read more

Lake haven motel is cheap,yes but its terrible. I booked this trip last minute so i couldn't get one of the better ones but this one looked decent on the photos. So i booked it and when i came into the room at first there was a horrible scent. The sheets were also dirty. The only good part of the motel was the price, the fact that the pool was heated and the bathroom was pretty decent. For one of the days i stayed, there was no water for the whole afternoon. I didn't have a place to shower after i got out of the pool or anything like that. They didn't even inform anyone. Even thought they have a heated pool the chlorine in that pool is terrible. When i got out of the pool all of my skin was practically white. My skin felt dry for days even after multiple showers. When going into bed i heard everything above me. I heard the creaks on the floor of people walking i heard dog barks and i heard cars passing by. I woke up about 5 times If your going to stay at Lake George make sure to book your trip early. "The heritage" is a amazing place to stay at. I think its alittle bit more then lake haven but just spend a bit more for a big difference. Whatever you do dont stay here read more

Considering what we paid for the rooms, this was a great hotel. I stayed here with a large group of about 11 people for a weekend at the end of August. We were able to obtain 3 rooms right next to each other on a short notice. So if you're having trouble finding something available, definitely give this place a call. The rooms are on the small side, but they were able to accommodate all of us. About 4 people to each room. However, we didn't plan on spending a lot of time in the rooms anyway. My only complaint is that the beds could be a little more comfortable. The hotel is within a 10 minute walking distance to the action on Canada Street in Lake George. Various shops, restaurants, and bars through out the area. As well as the beautiful Lake George. The hotel pool is heated. Which can have it's ups and downs. I don't know how refreshing it would be to jump in on a hot day, but the cool nights at the end of August were perfect for a night time swim. Be aware, that the pool closes at 9pm though. I wish it stayed open longer. Staff is very nice and leaves you alone to do your thing. You won't even know they exist unless you go looking for them. Will I be back? This is where me and my 7 friends stayed for our Lake George trip and it was great. The price was right for us recent college grads. The rooms are small and very basic but they were very clean, our cleaning lady even put our towels in shapes of swans! It is very cute from the outside with flowers adorning the balcony. They have a pool which we enjoyed one afternoon. The pool had complementary noodles and beach balls which was a nice touch. The employees were very nice and friendly. The office had tons of visitor info along with coupons for the attractions there. I would highly recommend this motel to people because when you are in Lake George you are always out doing something so having a nice small room for a great price can be found here to add to your perfect vacation! read more

Doesn't look like a great motel from the outside like some of the motels on the strip but it was a clean place. Bathroom was clean and seemed updated. The rugs have to be replaced, definitely not their strong suit. Beds were decent. One pet peeve of mine is that this motel says no pets allowed but clearly nobody paid enough attention because there was dogs everywhere. I am a dog owner and I respect that dogs are not allowed but when you clearly don't pay attention to the rules when clearly when checking in they say no pets allowed but yet there was plenty to be found in especially by the pool area this weekend. I don't think the staff cared to enforce the rules. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We stayed here for a last minute family trip with our 1 year old daughter. The room was extremely small. The radiator by the door was falling apart and our daughter nearly cut herself on it several times. The radiator in the bathroom was pure rust. The bathroom door did not lock so the weekend was spent trying to keep our daughter out of the bathroom away from the rusty radiator and the toilet. The shower and bathroom were so small I barely fit in there being six months pregnant.  There was no bathtub so we had no way to bathe our daughter. The shower head was nonadjustable, it was like a hose which directly hit the back wall of the shower making it nearly impossible to take a decent shower, you had to stand with your back completely against the wall. My husband tried to adjust the shower head but it shot off at him nearly taking his eye out. We booked a queen room but the bed in there was clearing a full size bed and not a queen. The blanket on the bed had another motel's name and phone number written on it in huge letters/numbers in permanent marker and had multiple burn holes on it. Our first night there there were children running back and forth upstairs and up and down the stairs outside our room at 9:30 at night, a dog barking at 9:00 p.m. and at 10:30 we had kids outside our room next to our car in the parking lot throwing firecracker poppers.  Again we had our 15 month old daughter with us who was trying to sleep. I approached management who said he could go talk to them. I also asked management about a bath tub and was told I would have had to request that when I was booking the room .... the room on the website lists a tub. We asked for a refund on our 1st night so we could stay at another motel, nothing happened. I e-mailed the motel once we left and Lisa in the office there went off the wall accusing us of breaking the rules and being cheap, she told us we snuck a family of 4 into a Queen room meant for two adults. There is no where on their website to list a child under 2, I did not consider my 1 year old and my unborn child adult occupants but she insisted b/c we had my daughter with us and b/c I was 6 months pregnant we were considered a family of 4 and we broke the rules .... Mind you I was visibly pregnant when checking in and when speaking to the manager and stated I had our 1 year old with me when I checked in and even had the office help open a toy for my daughter bc I did not have scissors NO ONE EVER TOLD US we were "breaking the rules" I reached out to the owner of the motel after Lisa's unprofessional rude response and accusations and he doesn't seem to care. My brother and I stayed here for one weeknight in June 2019. It was affordable: about $100 for the night, including tax. It is a cute place and a good value. New Owners. The Office is always closed, Room smells like Pee. No TV, no Coffee, no Breakfast, no Conditioner, no assistance, no staff EVER. The number on the door is to another Hotel. When I called to get information on Office Hours the Girl was extremely rude and disgusting with how she talks to people. Affordable is the word here. Stayed here with the family for memorial weekend for $80/night and like previous reviewers, we didn't stay at the motel much so it is exactly what we needed. If you're looking for luxury and paying more look else where. The owner is a great person, very informative, accommodating. My main draw was it was pet friendly, please don't bring your pet if it's not house trained since the owner is leaning on eliminating that policy due to bad experiences. You can always separate the group and have the rest live on the other side where it is bigger and nicer while the person with the pet lives on the pet side of the motel. Nice walk down the mini beach for the dog for his daily relief. 10-15 minutes walk to all the main attractions. Will come by again! Thanks Jeff! read more

We stayed here last week for one night on our way back from a family road trip to Ohio. We are sorry we didn't have more time to stay and enjoy Lake George and this sweet little hotel! We had a wonderful corner room next to the pool. The room was maticulously clean! We all enjoyed the refreshing pool after our long drive and we walked down to the small beach on the lake at sunset. The hotel is right in the village and we had an easy stroll down the street for dinner and sight seeing. The room rate was very inexpensive and the hospitality and cleanliness were outstanding!
