Whispering Vine is always an enjoyable time. My friend and I had the champagne flight, which were all quite good selections. Since we were hungry, we ordered food from next door. It's great how local businesses pair up with each other to be full service. The bar seating was full, but we sat at a cute smaller table, until another friend arrived and went to the bigger middle table. I like the tables amongst the wine look and it does actually create some privacy. It was quite busy due to the holidays. At one point there was only one server so it was slower because people were coming to get their gifts. When the other came back from break it helped. I think staffing is hard for a lot of businesses. Price wise, flights and cocktails are reasonable for the quality and size. Some of the bottles to purchase are better than grocery store prices and there are different sales. I definitely recommend considering stopping in for your wine purchase. read more

What an amazing Purple Friday Sale! (Think Black Friday in Grapes) I stopped in to make my order and Jordan was fabulous! The line was a little long (expected) but she kept everyone moving and was very friendly throughout the process. Came in to pick up park of our order and had a couple of glasses of wine. This well designed wooden mall area is in the old pastures of SW Reno. Love that you can get a flight of bubbly or pinot - let alone for $15. They'll make up a salami cheese board if you ask - or you can grab some great food at the surrounding restaurants and bring in. Came in for the first time, and although I had a hard time figuring out where it was in the shipping center, it was super cute inside. We had the bubbles flights and they were wonderful. We also got the meat/cheese plate, and although it wasn't as fancy as a charcuterie board, it gave us something to snack on while enjoying our bubbles. Great hidden gem! read more

Quality/Quantity - My buddy and I have both been wanting to visit this location for a long time. And since Whole Foods' tap room was a HUGE disappointment today (no more food service), we decided to get our last glass of wine here. Well, bottle service was even better. No corkage fee. But definitely more than what we both wanted to drink, but that still did not stop us, lol. Sticking with whites (since we did oyster Friday at Whole Foods). We got a bottle of Far Niente Post & Beam Chardonnay. Sat at the bar and enjoyed life. Atmosphere - Cool local spot. Many regular locals here. It looked like everyone knew everyone. Many case pickups, purchases, etc. A fairly large selection of wines which I did not get a chance to study. See pictures. Although they were busy, there were plenty of seating; indoor, outdoor, bar, etc. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 8pm or 9pm; closed Sundays. Plenty of mall parking. Service - 5 Stars, everyone was welcoming. Even suggested that since we are buying two glasses of wine, it would be a better deal getting a bottle, which we ended up doing. Price - $38 + tip, very reasonably priced. We will be regular customers, thank you. Next time, I will take the time to walk and see all your wine selections. Love Whispering Vine Wine here in South Reno. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but this is where I go with my wine enthusiast friend when I have a party to plan and need good wine at a great price. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. They have a huge selection that is very well organized and easy to find what you need. But it is not only a great place to purchase wine, you can bring your friends and family and order a glass or bottle of wine and socialize. They also serve beer and champagne as well. There is a nice counter bar area but also lots of table throughout the space to accommodate small to larger sized groups. They do not serve food but you can order and bring in food from the restaurants there in South Creek to enjoy. Specifically, South Creek Pizza, Yoshi's and Los Compadres. In the past my friends and I ordered from Yoshi's and they even delivered it to us there at Whispering Vine! I highly recommend this place for great wines and also a nice place to just hang out and wind down after a long day. read more

Hoped to get a wine on sale but they were all out so bought a Ferrari Carrano Chardonnay and a Whispering Vine Rose both decently priced under $20. The store was not busy so browsed a little then made selections. My friend has a punch card so I let her get my points as I'm not in the area very often. Friendly staff member but didn't offer any tasting which would have been nice. Pretty good selection but seemed to be out of a lot of their more premium wines. Whispering Vine South Reno is one of my go-to spots when I'm in the mood for great wine without breaking the bank. Pricing is absolutely great here and there is a ton of fabulous wines to choose from--they always have something unique or interesting on the list, whether you're into bold reds, crisp whites, or something bubbly. I have noticed that the service never seems to be that great when you sit on the patio. It's a beautiful space, but I've consistently found that it takes longer to get acknowledged and/or your order brought to you when you're outside compared to sitting at the bar or inside. Still, if you're a wine lover looking for variety and value, Whispering Vine on Foothill Road is definitely worth checking out--just be prepared to be a little more patient if you're dining al fresco. read more

First time here was mind blowing! As a former chef who has worked in the wine business I have not seen this broad of a selection anywhere! Great food menu, too! We reserved a window seat - very nice - but you could get the same view from the bar... They let you know when the next reservation is arriving, which is nice. I had the Bubbly flight and was very pleased with my choice. We started with olives and peanuts and moved on to the Shrimp/Lobster roll sans roll (to make it gf). This evening at approximately 7:30 pm, I was refused a second glass of wine after having one drink and was told the establishment was closing. At the same time, multiple nearby patrons continued to be served alcohol. No intoxication concerns were stated, and no consistent service policy was explained. The selective refusal of service was confusing, embarrassing, and felt discriminatory. I am documenting this incident and requesting clarification regarding your alcohol service standards and why they were applied to me but not to others. I have lived all over the country and have never been treated like this. This has been twice at this establishment and I will . It's unacceptable as a female having one glass of wine. It appears that any sort of male attention that is not attributed to the female bartenders or anyone else in the bar is apparently unacceptable. I did not ask for the attention, and I deserve the same voice as everyone else. Shame on you. read more

We swung by here on a Thursday around 4pm before heading to pizza for dinner. It was fairly busy, all the table seating was taken as far as I could see, but there was some room at the bar. This place is more a wine store with table seating placed between shelves of wines for sale. Layout is still nice with room enough to peruse the shelves while people chat and drink wine. You can either buy by the glass or try a set flight of three. We got the Chardonnay flight and I have to say the pours were pretty generous. $10 for the flight. If you come with someone who isn't into wine, there was a nice selection of whiskeys that I saw on the bar and a small cocktail list. Great little stop before or after shopping or eating at the Foothill plaza. read more

Been a few years since I last reviewed Whispering Vine but it deserves another go at it. I absolutely love the place. The wines and drinks are fantastic as they have an extensive selection. The location and ample parking make it an easy place to get into and out of. What sets them apart is the people who work there. They really seem to want to help you. Their knowledge of what they serve is as good as any in town. I love their ever changing wine flights that allow me to try something new without having to buy a full glass. The servings are always fair and generous as well. While it was way too hot to sit outside, that is a nice option. There are so many inside seating options as well. I've loved watching Whispering Vine's Barrel select program come together over the years. They've gotten some choice barrels and selected some really unique spirits to insure there's something for everyone. Best of all, these can be sampled at all of the locations, neat, on the rocks, or in a drink of your choice AND you can also buy them to enjoy at home too. The south location always keeps a nice selection on hand for retail, and the bar has a few gems too. It's a super fun spot to grab a drink before or after dinner in South Reno. They are able to help you decide what wine would be best off of other wines you've liked in the past by showing you something different at the same time. They have daily tastings with generous pours and reasonable prices. We really enjoyed going on Thursday when they had blind tastings of pinot noir from around the world for about 15 bucks. It was fun to describe each wind and try to guess the region. The clientele at whispering vines were classy yet casual. Some people were doing business over a glass of wine, some were there for tastings, some were three simply to drink. In summary, it was a five stars experience. All locations have a great inventory of wines to choose from. Such an inventory the store is quite crowded with cases, shelves and tables crammed together. On the weekend evenings good luck trying to find a seat or two. I went in for a nightcap after dinner at Southcreek Pizza. Disappointed they didn't have a port available, I would have had to buy an entire bottle to have a glass in their shop. It's a wine shop- who doesn't have at least one port open ?
