So I NEEDED a break from the day to just relax and stop thinking! I gave my wife a few options, a few breweries to choose from (or for me to just go alone, which she would not have let me drink and drive, especially all the way from North Reno). So she/we chose to go to Slieve as I have not been there yet. Actually, all 3 choices were breweries. The good news is that there are more and more new breweries opening. The bad news is that there are more and more good breweries closing, in ALL my hometowns... My first time in a nano brewery; cool. Today I got (and tried the following), all Slieve brands; support local: Oh, I did not know you had a happy hour M-F from 2-5pm; I just missed it by 13 minutes... Should not have spent so much time outside taking pictures for Yelp, lol. Pale Ale - Good, but I prefer more flavor. This is currently my second "go to" beer after reds. Jimbo Porter - Better, but then I tried the Cookie Monster! I also did not taste the coconut. Cookie Monster - My favorite of the beers, so much flavor. And I am NOT usually a sweet beer drinker. It was not an overwhelming stout, probably due to the sweetness, but you can definitely taste the chocolate and slightly coffee and caramel flavors. I would get this again, but it would always have to be my last beer due to the flavors. Beers that I need to come back for when available are: Your reds, IPAs and of course your "Trinity Tripel." Ambiance - On your "about" page on your website, it says you are still looking for a home for your brewery...? Is that accurate or does that page need to be updated? Cool space, indoor and outdoor seating. Bar and table seating. 2 bars, one the back, probably only used for events. Semi private room when you walk in. Ping pong, darts, games, cornhole, cool decor on walls throughout to read, etc. Open 7 days a week, see their website. Yelp's hours/days differ slightly. Event spaces are available; see their website.. Service - Good. We were also greeted by Shannon when she and Phillip came in later for a drink or two... Phillip was too busy drinking to say hi, lol. Price - $8 a beer. The typical cost for good craft beer. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2022 with your nanobrewery; I wish you the best and am glad you own the building to help you weather some "storms." read more

We came for the Girl Scout beer pairing benefit! It was our first time coming to the brewery. I called at the last minute to see if we could still get tickets and they said we will squeeze you in, now that's good business! We got there a little early to pick our spot at the bar. We were greeted by Shannon the owner. She is a lovely lady and later met her husband Phil. They have owned Slieve's for about three years. They have a spacious building and super clean! The staff are friendly and accommodating. There is no food on the premises to purchase, but you can bring your own food or ordered inn. It was fun to sample Girl Scout cookies and taste beer. We started with 6 tastings but they threw in a couple extra. The event was well organized and the Girl Scouts were there to sell their cookies. I was a Girl Scout 50 years ago. I think a box of cookies was $1.00 - $1.25. I paid $7. Times have certainty changed. The brewery is in an interesting location that I never knew existed before, but now I do and look forward to my return. Thank you for making our day fun and memorable!!! read more

It's always nice discovered local distilleries in Reno/Tahoe, and Slieve is no exception! Came here with my boyfriend for a corporate Christmas event, and was pleasantly surprised to discover that they brew their own small batches of beer, seltzer and moonshine that they serve at their bar. We tried all four seasonal flavors of their moonshine cocktails (each priced at only $12.99) - peach, cherry, apple, and pumpkin pie, and were pleasantly surprised at how smooth and tasty they were (albeit very dangerous since they're also strong). Service at the bar was very attentive, friendly and fast despite how busy the event was, and this will definitely be a spot I'll come back and explore during normal hours! read more

Beer was average, atmosphere was average. They did have a full bar aside from beer which was cool. However, I had issue with the staff. When I went to get a drink the bar tender and all the staff left and were all in the back room or something. There wasn't a single staff member for like 15mins. If you want a brewery which is all about a friendly, welcoming, casual vibe, then this is your spot. One of the best places in the city to grab a drink. Firstly, the quality of the beer here is pretty darn good. And this place has one of the most constantly updating beer menus around. They run smaller batches here, so chances are you will come in from week to week and find something different and worth a try. There are certainly some more regular fixtures on the menu, but many and more seasonals and one-offs will show up on tap. The Bunny Hill Blond is an excellent easy drinker. The Over Yonder, a newer entry, is an outstanding IPA. And another event entry, a Dutch golden strong dubbed Not Today Satan, is quite lovely. Also, these guys brew their own seltzers, as well. They usually have a couple different pre-set flavors on tap, but they also "snow-cone" it up by giving you the option of getting a plain seltzer and then mixing up any flavor combination you want from their selection of syrups. Beyond that, they also have a full bar here, so there are selections of wines, spirits, and cocktails available. And while they aren't advertising this too much, I definitely have to call attention to their shelf full of just spirits made around Northern Nevada. For those wondering, there is no food available beyond some chips and pretzels and such. Though they are very close to a restaurant, with other places nearby which can deliver. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the events that get hosted here, as there are intermittent music nights, art shows, food pairings, or sports watch parties. Prices for all the beers are pretty much on par with other breweries in the region, usually starting around $8 per glass. And if it wasn't apparent already, the service here is phenomenal, and definitely bumps them into the 5-star range. The staff are insanely friendly, and do a good job managing big crowds. And lastly, the parking is usually pretty easy, being mostly street spaces. All in all, Slieve remains one of my favorite spots in town to grab a pint. They hit such a perfect balance of quality drinks, quality service, and quality vibes. In the last year or so, I really feel the energy of the Brewery District has shifted east to land along the Wells Ave corridor, with these guys being one of my favorite frequent haunts. After finding out the large number of breweries and distilleries in Reno, NV I was overwhelmed, but something was calling me to check out Slieve! And I am so glad that I did! It was a Wednesday night so I wasn't sure of the crowd or the business and immediately upon walking in I was welcomed by the patrons and Phillip and his lovely 13 month old dog, Bailey, behind the bar. I was encouraged to check out their menu behind me and decided on the Arnold Palmer which was lemonade and tea, which was light and refreshing! Amazing event venue and party space! We were looking for a last minute venue for my company Christmas party and Slieve knocked it out of the park! For $500 we got the space all to ourselves for four hours with two bartenders who were extremely helpful and friendly. When I arrived early to set up the owner offered to help me set up and move stuff inside. The space was clean and the beer was delicious! They allow you to bring in your own food so we catered from Casale's Halfway club which is just up the street. We will definitely be booking more events here moving forward! read more

Fun place to have a party! No frills but plenty of games to play and an area to set up your own food. We had a taco bar and there was room to plug in crock pots on a bar with stools on the other side for seating. Since this is a brewery plan to drink beer. They have a great list of beers and I chose their signature light beer which I really enjoyed. Normally I prefer wine but as they only served it in a couple cans I passed on that! My friends got a nice beer flight that you choose which ones you get, I would get that next time to try their other options. There is additional seating by the bar area so we were able to spread out. Slieve (an Irish word for mountain) Brewing is a cool local joint on the edge of Brewery District. We visited during the week between Christmas and New Years around 3pm and it was rather empty. There were a few beers on tap available, some bottled hard ciders, wine, soda/sparkling water, and snacks like chips. I ordered the Bunny Hill Blonde, a light and refreshing ale. My friends ordered the Tuckered Out Stout, and the Abominable Milk Stout, a chocolatey stout. All the drinks we had were definitely tasty and not too heavy or hoppy. You could definitely have a few without being too full! There were also a few bar games on the other side including cornhole, the ring hook game, and darts. While the selection is a bit limited it is a family friendly place that's very spacious and has lots of fun bar type games to play. read more

This recently opened brewery will be a great local hangout! Large and open, built in an old firehouse with roll up doors that will be perfect for summer, and some outdoor seating. They have about 7 beers on tap and more will be rolling out soon. Loved the Imperial Red IPA, but at 9.2, enjoyed a short glass. Lol! We just moved back to Reno and had to stop in to the only brewery in town we haven't been to yet and we had a great experience! This local small batch craft brewery was exactly what we love about breweries - good people, good beer, good atmosphere and lots of games to play! When we walked in we walked past a table of board games. We went up to the bar and ordered the Gemini Belgian Dubbel and the Resolution IPA. We loved both of our beers! We then sat down and played some of the board games while we enjoyed our beers. It wasn't until we were heading out, with a quick run to the bathroom, that we saw on the way to the restrooms they also have corn hole and hook and ring (or ringing the bull). We will absolutely be back and will be bringing some friends with us next time too! We're excited to see what other beers they brew next. read more

So much to love about this place and best of all, the beer rocks. Talk about selection, whatever your style preferences, chances are they will have a beer to fit the bill. My personal favorite, Experts Only IPA, a black double IPA. I really like that everything is small barrel batches and the brewmaster stated he plans to have a standing list of about 6 and then be creative with the rest. This means every time you go in you will likely have new beers to try. The atmosphere is great. Thinking of a party, reserve this place. They have darts and corn hole and lots of space to mingle. There are currently 5 beers on the board, a pale ale, pumpkin ale, coconut porter, brown ale, and a British strong ale. There will be new beers every 2 weeks. Had the best time at Slieve Brewing tonight! We went for their beer and cheese pairing with Wheyfarer cheese and oh my goodness it was sublime. Everyone was so friendly and help and the owner and his wife stopped and talked to us whenever my husband had questions. Love that we found this spot! It's also conveniently close to some of our other favorite breweries. The owner was serving us and he was incredibly friendly and gave great recommendations. I ordered a few different 5 oz beers and can't say enough good things about all of them! My favorite was the fire on the mountain, a red IPA that had the richness of a red ale but still had that bite of an IPA. You really can't go wrong with any beer here.
