We've been going here for almost a year and love it. Food is always delicious but the coffee is average. Most if not all of the staff is friendly. I think we've only ever had one bad experience with a waitress but we haven't seen her since so they may have taken care of it. There is usually a wait on the weekends but we've never waited longer than 15 mins. read more

We have come here quite a bit. It's a local favorite and always hopping. I love the Texas French toast, omelettes, and skillet combos they offer. They have homemade pies that are amazing. My wife and were visiting the area and needed to grab something to eat. Checking the GPS we saw Whistle Stop and decided it would fit the bill. We were greeted when we walked in as though we were old friends that had just meet. Our server Dee-Dee treated us with a friendly smile, she too seemed like a new old friend. After receiving out food - hamburger for me and a BLT for my wife, we consumed some of the best diner food we had in a long time. Dee-Dee stopped by to make sure we were happy with our food, She really seemed to enjoy working there and passed along our compliments to the cook. Dee-Dee is a true gem and one of the reasons we will stop in again next time we are in the area! read more

This place is just awesome. They have a great menu selection and you can get either breakfast or lunch. The food is delicious. Nothing too fancy, but well made and plentiful. Service is outstanding and the prices reasonable. One thing you may forget about is the pie...not to be missed. We go there every chance we get. It is especially convenient for when we are camping at Chain O Lakes State Park and just don't want to cook breakfast. read more

I work right by this place and have eaten here many times. They use quality ingredients and it's so fresh and delicious. The eggs they use is a great example they are top quality and taste great. I usually get the cowboy skillet no cheese, Texas toast and avocado added. It's the absolute best. One thing that stood out as well is when I asked for hot sauce twice now I get a little bottle with some still left. Shows a lot about the staff running the place. Delicious food! Fast and friendly service! We have been coming here for over 10 years! New owners recently and still the best place in the area for a yummy breakfast! We even do carryout sometimes since we have young kiddos, which can be a chore at times for eating out. This place has really great food! Went in on the morning of Superbowl Sunday and got a great lunch. The bacon cheeseburger really hit the spot and girlfriend had a chicken sandwich she really enjoyed. It looks small from the outside but really spacious when you step inside. Food was to be expected. Wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. Honestly the low rating is mostly due to service and atmosphere. Everything was extremely fast. But not in a good way, more like we were being rushed out of there. My husband hadn't even taken one bite before the check was slapped down at out table. We weren't asked how everything was or if we needed anything else. The soda was so bad we couldn't even drink it, and the water seemed to have a peculiar taste. Overall my biggest complaint was the seating--the booths were so uncomfortable. It was not an enjoyable experience and I'm not sure what keeps bringing people back. read more

Freshly departed from Lake county, one of the places we miss most is the Whistle Stop. Great food, nice casual atmosphere. Not really cheap, but not necessarily unreasonably priced. When we come home we always have breakfast at the whistle stop at least once. read more

This is a really good breakfast place. They have a varied menu, with many favorites. I really enjoy the biscuits and gravy and also the Cowboy Skillet. Hashbrowns are consistently good, never underdone or burnt, that's a good sign. Still have yet to try the pies, but they've got to be good, homemade they say. The staff is very friendly and courteous. I'm always impressed by the food and care of this little place. My folks live in Ingleside, so I don't visit often, but when I do its always awesome. Based on my experiences, the only downsides I've encountered are a bit of a wait on the weekends, not too bad, and last time I was there the coffee was a little harsh, coffee should be better. read more
