The service was amazing! The staff were super nice and kept checking in on us. The food was great. The star of the show was the cinnamon roll it was so soft and goey on the inside. It's been a few months and since I've only been here once, I was surprised the waitress remembered my exact order? Potato soup was hot and very good with a cream base I had the farm steak sandwich with well done fried potatoes. I enjoyed both. Not much has changed at this local establishment since it opened. The ambiance is a diner for sure...not updated in a while but always clean. Service is excellent and personal. We had breakfast on this occasion and it was very good despite not having their world famous cinnamon buns available (pre-ordering for our next visit!). Overall, for a lower cost but personal service diner in Lake Villa area, this is a can't miss! read more

This is a hidden gem! The food is always on point and consistent. The fact this is a family run business is one element that makes this such a spectacular establishment. The customer service and "hometown" feel you get when dining at LVR is what makes you want to keep coming back again and again! When you walk in the door and greeted and then asked, "how are you?", the question is sincere! The menu is traditional diner, occasionally a seasonal item, and is on point! You can't go wrong with any items on the menu! The deserts are homemade & AMAZING! I also hear customers asking when specific deserts will be available as well as requesting deserts to me made! My husband and I shared one of their homemade cinnamon rolls and it was the best! There are none that rival it. Their breakfasts and lunches are also delicious but remember to order a cinnamon roll or order one to-go! (Pies are great too!) And the staff is the nicest ever. Go there! I have to shamefully admit I've never been here in the several years I've lived in Lindenhurst. It is now my favorite breakfast place. Amazing food. Some of the nicest people working and it just felt good to be there. The food was hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. I 100% recommend this restaurant. Went there for breakfast after a tournament down the street on a Sunday, the staff was welcoming and made us feel at home. I was very impressed by our server overall, she was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was on point. I would definitely recommend it. It has a homelike feeling that makes you want to come back visit just for a cup of coffee and have a good conversation to start your day right! read more

I went here with seven of my European friends who are Visiting International Teachers and have been in the US for just over a year, and they all agreed this was one of the best breakfasts they have had since they got here. I was just in Door County last weekend for my families annual camping trip, and one of our traditions is to go to some of our favorite breakfasts spots. At Lake Villa I had the meat lovers omelette, and I can say with confidence that this breakfast was better than any breakfast I've had in Door County, and that's saying something. read more

I agree with other reviews on here, it's a neighborhood hidden gem! This place is very easy to drive past and not notice but I am so glad we DID noticed it one morning while looking for somewhere to eat breakfast. The vibe was immaculate including the incredibly warm welcoming staff to the "regulars" sitting at the bar. The staff members were not only plesant but attentive. It's a bit cozy (small) but I like that when it comes to a diner/breakfast place. Our food came out fast and was so darn tasty. We will most definitely be going back and I am excited to try their lunch menu. 10/10, give it a try! read more

I've been here a few times, but not in years. Yesterday, my wife and I were out and neither of us had eaten. It was late Sunday morning. She wanted breakfast and I wanted lunch. I said: "I know just the place", and promptly drove here. When we walked in, there was a good crowd, but there were a few open tables. When the waitress asked us what we would like to drink, my wife said: "I'll take a Coke or a Pepsi whichever you have". The waitress said: "We have both, and RC." WHO HAS RC ANYMORE?!! My wife ordered a Coke, and I naturally ordered an RC. (In my mind I was thinking this review is off to a good start). My wife ordered a skillet and I ordered the Sloppy Joe. Sandwiches come with a bag of chips. Or, for $1 more you can order it "Deluxe" which includes fries and a cup of homemade soup. Fries and homemade soup for just $1 are you kidding me?! Today's soup choices were chicken and dumpling, or french onion. I went with the chicken and dumpling. It was excellent. When it comes to sloppy joe's - I'm very picky, but this sandwich was excellent! I'm typically not a fan of crinkle cut fries, because many places don't cook them long enough and the turn out mushy or soggy. These were cooked longer than most places, so they were nice and crispy, I was pleasantly surprised. My wife enjoyed her meal as well. There was one oddity: For her skillet, they cooked everything up and then just slapped a slice of American cheese over the top. Most places use shredded cheese and mix it throughout. When I look at photos from here I see some with shredded and some with a slice of American, so maybe it depends on the cook. Not a big deal, and won't impact my rating, just an observation. If you have a preference of sliced or shredded you may want to mention it when you order. Overall, we were very pleased with the food. The service was super friendly and quick. We will definitely be back. read more

What is the point of a reservation if you aren't reserving a table? I completely understand a 5-10 minute wait. However, It should not be on the customer if you overbooked reservations. The ambiance is great and the food is yummy, but I feel jaded by the reservation situation along with the attitude of the hosts.
