We happened upon this place after leaving GNP. We were hungry and it is the first place you see that has something other than burgers. We had to wait a little bit due to a staffing shortage but that's was fine to get out and stretch our legs and look at the BEAUTIFUL gardening and flowers on the property. We were seated outside which was cooler than inside as many places do not have air conditioning in the area. The server was clearly from another country so some of his English was broken. He let us know that it might be a minute since he had just taken a large group's dessert order. He meant no harm and we knew that - cultural differences in speech delivery. We saw quite a few teen aged workers at our time around GNP so we wondered if there's a work program. Anyways, with the view we had, he could take all day. We got our drinks which were so good. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time. My steak was a tad overcooked but it was still delicious. A train came by during our visit which was so fun to watch! Unfortunately, they ran out of the huckleberry cheesecake so I did not get to try that - super bummed! I can't remember how much the bill was, but you expect to pay more in a place like this I guess. The food here was amazing. We had planned on eating here but took one too many hikes in the park and it got late on us. We pulled in at 20 minutes to close and the guy running things let us know the dining room was closed. That wasn't an issue since we knew it was closing time but I did ask if they had time to make a to-go order. He was happy to oblige and I'm so glad he did. He directed us to a garden area overlooking a water area and we sat hoping to spot a moose. He did tell us they had spotted 2 bears walking through earlier. The outside dining overlooks this same glade making its nice place to watch for wildlife. We'll be back when in the area. read more

Watch your bill closely!! My family of 10 visited the restaurant in early July 2026 on a week night. It was not busy and we were able to sit outside on the back deck. The one thing they have going for them is the view is amazing!! We ordered a variety of appetizers and dinners. I had the ribeye which was fair but overcooked. Potatoes were very good and the Huckleberry cheesecake was awesome. The two star rating comes partly from the food but mostly from errors on our orders. The wait staff made a number of errors on our food and drink which were remedied in time. We were in no hurry so not a big deal. However, after we had paid and on our way home, we found on our receipt they charged us for a bottle of wine when only a glass was ordered and received. I called the restaurant and told them of the error. They apologized and said they would fix it. Well, that did not happen and now they are ghosting me. I do not blame the wait staff as we learned they were fairly new to the restaurant and learning the ropes. However, this should have been remedied by the manager/owner. Overall, I would expect better for a $700+ bill. read more

What an incredible experience. We were a group of 6 with no reservations, who had just hiked most of the day at Many Glacier. We were accommodated after a short wait. Our waiter who is from Ecuador could not have been more hospitable. We had the flatbread, quail and spinach artichoke dip for starters. Incredible! We then had the ribeye with mashed potatoes and veggies. Another incredible choice. Steaks were cooked to perfection, and you could taste the fresh sourced taste in the beef. Stopped there for dinner on September 6 as we were driving back to Columbia Falls, a big mistake!! The service was very slow although the place was not that full. The guy actually asked us if we had a reservation when the place was not that full. I ordered a New York Strip and it was the worst one I have ever had, Over half of it was fat and was so hard to cut probably would have been better off using a chainsaw. Ordered medium well and it was way undercooked Then the desert, we ordered a Huckleberry Cheesecake and the slice was the width of 2 cookies put together Only good part of the meal was the potatoes. Was in Glacier National Park after 9/10/23 when most places close up for the season so it was a godsend Summit House Steakhouse was still open and what a gem! We didn't have a reservation for our party of 7 but the owner/manager was very kind and was able to get us in within the hour. The wait went by fast because the restaurant is situated high up in the mountains with a view of the meadows often visited by wildlife and we were so lucky to see a big moose strolling by! The food was delicious too! Great ambience and service! Yelp says they are open til 8pm but restaurant sign says 9pm and owner/managed stayed open well past 9pm to accommodate people like us - tired hungry hikers after a long day in the beautiful Glacier National Park! read more

Stayed at the Lodge and ate here both nights. As evidenced by pics (no pics night 2), the first night was better but we enjoyed our experiences both nights. Overall, it was a treat having the statehouse at the resort. Definitely the nicest option for miles. Both nights it was very busy so seems people who weren't staying at property came just for the food. The restaurant is small with only a handful of tables inside and a handful outside, but a nice setting. Incredibly friendly staff! They allowed me to change my meal a bit which was so nice. My aunt loved her pork tenderloin and the off menu ice cream with huckleberry sauce she was given both nights. I highly recommended the huckleberry cheesecake! The second night we both got the salmon and it was just OK. Wine selection was good, although I wished there were local wines. Pricing was reasonable. Each night I spent $60 for my meal which included a main dish, dessert, wine, tea, and a 20%+ tip. Added bonus were the views. Even though we sat inside, the large windows allowed us to catch beautiful sunsets over the water that runs through the property. read more

It is hard to believe that the last review for Summit was 1-year ago. We were staying in the cabins adjacent to the steakhouse. It was an easy choice as there was nothing else nearby. We were glad that we chose to eat here. We split a rib-eye dinner (BTW they charged $7 which was a bit high to split the meal...) and we had the huckleberry cheesecake. Both were well prepared and very good. We sat on the patio which was also pleasant. If you are in the area, looking for a good meal, I would recommend stopping by - even if you need to dive in from East Glacier. read more

There are very few choices in terms of dining near the Two Medicine lake area. The restaurant is nice in a ranch setting. My husband & I both ordered the ribeye. I like my steak on the rarer side. Mine came out more like a medium, the main reason is how thin the steak is. Being a ranch in Montana, I thought this would be prime meat region, maybe my expectation is unrealistic. Definitely our favorite restaurant in Montana. Not far from Glacier National Park (southeast). We had a wonderful dinner at the steakhouse. Went here with my family and it was wonderful. We made a reservation earlier in the day- but I'm not sure that's necessary during the week. We asked to be seated by a window, but honestly all views in the restaurant are terrific. Unfortunately the night we went it was only open until 9pm and the sunset isn't until around 10:30 which was a bummer because the other pictures posted on yelp of the sunset look amazing. We had a variety of things on the menu (we each have our own taste buds) and everyone loved what they got. I had the wild prawns picatta which was AMAZING. Great flavor and portion size. During our meal, the server came by to let us know that there was a moose in the lake outside! Overall, great food and ambience- which is something I didn't think I'd find in the middle of Montana. After a long weekend in Glacier NP we were tired of eating out of to go bags that the parks only offered during covid period. We wanted to sit down to a nice romantic dinner with a view and this place didn't disappoint not to mention how close it is to Glacier national park. The building has an amazing history and the small business owners are even expanding with a event area and cabins. The view was beautiful and we were able to watch trains go by. The best food in the area, hands down. We ate here multiple times because it was so good and got different things each time including the salmon, multiple steaks, and a seared duck. The chef is very creative with his meals with great complimentary flavors. The service was also great each time. My girlfriend and I stayed at Summit Mountain Lodge for our final night within the Glacier area, and we were both excited to try the steakhouse. We were not disappointed! The restaurant and menu are both fairly small, but I think it adds to the elite and specialized service they offer. They seem to have daily specials too that are not on the regular menu. My girlfriend had the fresh salmon that was one of the specials, and I had the flatiron steak, also a special menu item. Both were fantastic, savory, and well-crafted with fresh vegetables. The wait staff was incredible, everyone pitched in to ensure our dining experience was the best it could be, and the owner stopped by more than once to check on us, our food, and our service. The atmosphere is hard to beat, right on the southeastern perimeter of Glacier National Park with granite peaks towering near the lodge/restaurant and a beautiful creek and pond between. They have a deck for outdoor seating where we watched the ducks in the pond and kept an eye out for other wildlife on the slopes in the distance. We then had a perfect view of a brilliant and vivid sunset afterwards. There aren't a whole lot of options for restaurants on this stretch of Highway 2, but this gem is a must! read more

What a great find in this neck of the woods! We were referred by the friendly concierge, Julie, at East Glacier Lodge. The setting is delightful & homey- over looking a moose pond. Other than the mosquitoes at dusk, it was perfect sitting out on the garden deck; enjoying the dancing flycatchers & the sun washing the mountains with a blush of pink. The staff were engaging & neighborly. Our table ordered the hanger steak, coffee rubbed rib eyes & the shrimp pasta. The beef was incredibly flavorful & tender. Wow! It might just be one of the best steaks we've ever had. For dessert we had the chocolate cake & huckleberry cheesecake- both delectable. We'll definitely be back! read more

Pleasantly surprised to find food that was enjoyable (3-stars is defined as 'A-OK' by Yelp) at a "fine dining" establishment. I'm one of those picky a-hole foodies who eats fresh fruits and vegetables year-round from my backyard in southern California. Even the weeds like purslane are edible. When coming to rural areas, it's a challenge to get my customary fresh food. I typically give up and eat low-brow food because I hate overpaying for showier food that ends up being no better than a cheap pizza. On a five-day trip, this was my one attempt to break this trend and Summit succeeded. The house smoked trout was more like a salad because the very thin trout was placed on a bed of greens. As a BBQ smoke hound, I would have liked a strong smoke flavor instead of most of the flavor coming from the mustard sauce and pickled red onions. The roasted pork loin was soft like it was partially braised. The technique produced homey results that were further enhanced by the huckleberry sauce. The server asked for doneness and suggested medium-well which I agreed to. The meat wasn't even close to being slightly pink and I doubt the cooking method would allow anything but well done. The pretentious act of offering medium-well for pork should be dropped. Served with chunky mashed potatoes, unevenly cooked starches are generally unappealing and a pet peeve. I don't like chunky rice, pasta, or bread and similarly don't like chunky mashed potatoes. I also have a peeve about overcooked vegetables, but the side of sautéed squash and carrots weren't cooked to mush and enjoyable to eat. The prawn piccata fantastically balanced the rich cream with acidity from the lemon, sun-dried tomatoes, and white wine, but could have used more capers. Tossed in linguine, this type of pasta perfectly picked up the right amount of sauce. This dish was an ideal way to get energizing carbs for a full day of hiking. The dining room, patio, and young garden had a pretty mountain view. Although a fancier setting, diners were still wearing shorts and sneakers. The small dining room likely caused the short 5-minute wait to be seated. Only 15 minutes away from East Glacier Park Village along US 2, a "teaser" sign warning that Summit is coming up does not exist on the highway. Local couple with friends stopped in for dinner. Waited for a long time for service. Finally got drinks and ordered. Ordered surf and turf. Food arrived cold. Took forever to get it back. Was okay at best. Never saw a waitress after that. When we finished our meal the "owner" approached our table and asked about the meal and we were frank and expressed our disappointment. This guy went ballistic and ranted about COVID and lack of help, and every other excuse he could come up with except that they had failed to provide a basic service. Told us we brought a toxic atmosphere to the restaurant. All because they failed to provide a basic service. Never had an apology for the poor service, the cold food, or his attitude. Several potential customers who witnessed his behavior expressed their dismay and left immediately. As we spoke to the other customers in the parking lot, he ran outside and yelled at us to leave his property. We were never rude, never loud, never disrespectful. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Driving back from glacier in the evenings offers a traveler few opportunities to find a good restaurant that remains open past 8. Luckily for us, the summit in was open until 9. The view of the mountains from the back deck was breathtaking and they had a good selection of wine and beers to enjoy while relaxing on the deck. For the food, everything was top notch, we had a perfectly prepared steak and chicken marsala. Portions were right sized and the food was very fresh. We will definitely make this a staple of future visits. read more

The food was fantastic, the building charming, the scenery serene. So why only three stars? The service was a complete zero. Had to wait and wait and wait for everything. We had to ask for our set-ups after the appetizers were delivered, had to wait approximately 30 minutes for our salads, another thirty minutes for our entrees and then sat for about 45 minutes before having to ask for our check. I get that there were only two wait people there but how difficult is it to just touch base with us every 15 minutes or so. Our waitress was sweet but the manager became angry at me when I complained about the poor service. This is a fairly expensive place so I get that the pace is relaxed but we weren't the only ones besides ourselves with the really bad service. When your paying over $50 per person, you shouldn't have to hunt down your own salt and pepper mills. Great place if you want to spend three hours for your dining experience read more

Best food of our stay in East Glacier. Our group of four had chicken, steak, salmon and halibut. Each dish was cooked to perfection and the accompanying side dishes complimented other flavors well. If you are having appetizers two must tries are the smoked trout dip, creamy and flavorful, and the bacon wrapped quail, it has bacon need I say more? Deserts were also very good, cheesecake and bananas foster. The live music made the evening, we enjoyed listening and interacting with him. Wow! We stopped only by chance. We took a group of hikers that had an injured party member there for help. It smelled so great out side we decided to stay and eat. First, the service was by far the best i have ever had. Second, the dinner i had was the rib-eye steak! It was prepaired exactly how i asked, and was better than any i have ever had.
