My car was hit on the passenger door and was in bad shape. I searched for the perfect body shop because we know things can go wrong and the job can be done incorrectly. When I called the wait was about 2 weeks out for an appt but I made it anyway. The day of my appt the drop off was so easy and was was given an ETA of finishing the job. I tried getting a rental and they were giving me timeframe of 1-2 weeks and the girl at the front desk told me to call her if I had issues and she made a call to enterprise and I was able to get a car within 2 days. I love that I would get a text with updates on my car and whether it was on track or not. I really appreciated that. Their communication with the customer is perfect! At Whitakers? There is a guy named Kyle, who came out and met me in the parking lot, As though he wanted to take care of business! He gave me some options, high and low, and told me to call and come back soon. He didn't put me off, he didn't tell me how busy he was, and he didn't minimize what had to be done. I returned the next day, but forgot to call. The only way I knew that I should have is the office manager said later that they were busy. I went for a walk and returned, and my car was ready to go. (he had to wet sand some paint off my front bumper, and put on a piece of trim ) It was kind of miraculous! I'm not saying you will get a miracle too? But I recommend Whitakers, when it's a different and easier and better approach to work? You can just tell. Oh, and btw, two places I checked with for recommendations recommended them too. read more

SHANE is the fucking MAN. I walked in this morning without an appointment and saw that they don't take walk-ins. I was greeted by Shane and asked if I could make an appointment and he first checked to see what I needed done- my fender on my Jeep had completely fallen off and was broken. He took my car and said he would be right back, 20 minutes later it was fixed. He said it was no biggie and DIDNT CHARGE ME. The goat. They were even willing to help bring the hourly rate to a figure that would support my budget and maximize insurance coverage. I cannot recommend this body shop. They lack attention to detail your car will never be the same. I was told my back up camera wasn't working properly because "it's a setting in the vehicle". Turns out it's not and they didn't even check to see if it was installed properly before giving it back to me. If you have striping or decals of any sort I do not recommend this shop whatsoever. Not only were the stripes uneven but the pin striping was way off and the stripes didn't even come down the entire bumper like they did prior to taking it to whitakers. I brought my car in to see Kyle, the manager, again. He buffed my car for free again and it looks so much better! Working with Whitakers to repair my Lexus 350 ES was the best experience I have ever had with an Auto Body shop. A shout out to Shane who was efficient, communicative, and had my car finished earlier than the estimated. It doesn't get much better than that! An amazing experience. Shane was a pleasure to work with. He not only provided a very reasonable estimate but also worked seamlessly with the insurance company for all supplemental expenses. He called me regularly to keep me updated. I noticed a small ding while picking up the car which was not there when I dropped it. Shane could not find any conclusive evidence in the pics that the ding was pre-existing and sent a gentleman to my home to get the ding repaired at his own cost. The front-desk was awesome also. UPDATE: After I spoke to Nationwide's shop manager this morning, Whitakers is going to set us up with a rental car for the day while they fix the issues we have with their work. Hopeful the end result will be better than this initial experience. --- We spent 20 days without our car and when we got it back the work wasn't great. We were merged into on a major road in Austin and needed the driver's side door replaced. The other person was at fault and insurance covered it, but instead of taking our MINI to the body shop we've used before, we used Whitakers because they were covered by Nationwide's lifetime warranty and because they offered their own. Plus the rest of the reviews are really good. Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite of most every review we read. We were first told our car would be done at the beginning of the week by one person, before another person later told us at the end of the week. We had to proactively call about our car because we weren't kept up-to-date on its progress. When my wife would call, the project manager would sound annoyed that we were calling yet again. Over the course of this repair, our pickup date was delayed at least 3 times. When we called at the end of the week (because Whitakers rarely called us with an update), we were told the car was in the wash bay but had an airbag light on -- something it hadn't come in with -- that needed to be sorted out by calling a specialist. When our PM called later that day he said it came down to a shorted wire or a circuit board not having been plugged in when the door was put back together. This was a Friday and Whitakers isn't open on the weekend. So we were delayed an entire weekend. Come Monday, we called around 1pm and were told the airbag light was being fixed. Our PM called at 3:30pm to tell us that a clip that holds the interior trim panel to the door had been broken "from taking it off and putting it back on too many times" and that they needed to get a part from MINI but that it'd be ready first thing -- at 11am -- the next morning. So that delayed our pickup another day. We called Monday at 11:30am, since we hadn't heard from anyone, and were told the car was ready and was being detailed and that we could come by at 2pm to pick it up. I was unavailable so my wife went and endured 10 minutes of what felt like a lecture from one of the owners, and then waited another 20 minutes for the car to be ready. And when she got the keys she was told, "We fixed that horn issue for you." What horn issue?!?! We didn't have a horn issue when it came in and were never told about one. So, we have our car back, but the work is not good. The interior trim panel buckles at the top where it meets the interior window weather seal and there is a wide gap at the bottom, approximately 3x the width of the factory-installed panel on the passenger side. To top it off, there's an issue with some of the weather seal causing wind and outside noises to be a lot louder than they were before. Whitakers' work carries a lifetime warranty, but I'm worried when the initial work took so long and isn't perfect and when the customer service has been mostly non-existent. I cannot in good conscience recommend Whitakers to anyone. Austin businesses, kindness toward your customers and admitting your mistakes can go a very long way toward mending our shattered expectations. read more

Some inattentive woman couldn't manage to keep in her lane and messed up my Subaru's is front corner. Qualitek said they couldn't match my 2017's bumper color so we took my very first new car to Whitaker's instead. Shane was very nice, made me feel okay about the accident and also answered all my hubs questions about the repairs. Whitakers nailed it! Someone hit my 2018 Crosstrek's back quarter panel in a parking lot and took off. I was so angry for my first new car being messed up that I decided it needed to get fixed. Read reviews and decided to take it to Whitakers. Everything from the receptionist to the guy keeping me updated was top notch. Honestly, it was somewhat of a hassle traveling all the way from far north Austin here but it was well worth the travel. They repaired the rear dent and performed a paint job miraculously. I was extremely nervous and hesitant as I know some places can rip you off (especially being a young woman) or not fully explain the process. My brand new Silverado, unfortunately, got backed up into while I was camping and I had to decide where to take my vehicle. I typically have always taken my vehicles to a shop up north but considering I'm south now, I was looking for a new place. My insurance company originally suggested a national chain in town that I have had a bad experience with and has a not so great reputation. I called that national chain and they told me it would be a week before I could even take it in. I asked for another recommendation from my insurance company and they mentioned Whitaker's. I had heard of them before but never used them. Let me tell you, I could not be more impressed. They got me in the next day and my vehicle was ready earlier than expected later that week! Jose, the front desk person and Kyle were incredibly friendly and helpful. The level of communication and updates was also top notch. My vehicle was damaged on the front driver's side quarter panel, right on a body line. That is a very difficult repair to make look brand new. The results were incredible. I have a very discerning eye when it comes to body work as some of my relatives are in the trade. I couldn't detect any imperfection, no crease, or inconsistency in the panel or paint job. Perfect paint match. They also stressed the lifetime warranty of their repairs a few times and that if I ever had any problems to just give them a call. I have literally never had such good customer service in my life at any place. I took our car into our garage at the wrong angle and scraped the side quite badly. I went to the Lakeway location of Whitaker and Carlos, the manager, told me that he would just try and clean it up and then I could decide if I wanted it repaired (it is an old car so I only have liability coverage and any repair costs would have been out of pocket). Carlos did that in 20 minutes and the scratches are gone and there is only a very slight dent which you can see only if you look very carefully. He never even charged me for the work.
