I'm from out of area looking for places to see the eclipse and nearby Cahokia. By chance we found this WC far from any I'd seen in the upper Midwest. The location seems safe enough and there's easy access. It seems that it was set up with Teo drive thru windows but the first order "kiosk" was blocked off. Given the randomness of fast food ordering, the service felt quick enough and the people were nice enough for a fast food operation. The facility looked clean and different from other WC locations in that they advertised specials and interesting variations on classics - chicken rings, 1921, and variations with bacon. There's a more vital fast food feel here. Frankly, while the staff was more focused on process, somebody there has some fire because they declare on their sign that this is the "Night Castle"! It looks like there may be stories to tell, but it was all business on a Thursday night. But it does get down to the food. And the food is good! It tasted a bit different from what I've had further north and even the frozen food varieties one can get at the store. I consider these to seem a bit better made in that the burgers seemed less greasy. read more

I have tried the frozen sliders and use to eat them all of the time when I lived in Iowa(no White Castles in Iowa) but getting them fresh can't be beat. From the beef patty, to the grilled onions, to the pickle and the freshest bun makes for a delicious burger. Top it off with some cheese and you have got it made! Some may say that sliders are only for when you have had too many adult beverages. I can dig these tasty burgers anytime day and anytime! Yes, they are good for breakfast too. It was 2am, and I was recovering from a long day of drinking (Don't judge me, it's a sh*t economy, we're all suffering here) and this place was the only fast food joint open. Food gave me the sh*ts, but it was hot, greasy, and salty, and that's all I needed. I mean, it's White Castle, you don't go there for the fine cuisine. Let me tell you why I gave it a five star rating. I can count on one hand the number of words I exchanged with the lady taking my order. My food was ready seconds after I got to the window. In the span of three minutes, I went from the back of the line to driving away with my mozzarella sticks and loaded fries. This place is fast. So, I went there on October 26 2024, as I did back in 2023. It was on my way to the haunted house in St. Louis, Missouri with my dad. He and I both love White Castle food, but it's his favorite over being my favorite. Both times of being there it was extremely slow. The first time it was a 45-minute wait for food as we both could see the employees running around playing grab ass with each other. The second time (2024), was a 25-minute wait. Both of the times, not only was only one person working and rest were not, the food was cold, and the cheese for his sandwiches were not even melted. This time in 2024, he went inside to order and one (larger) black woman was running around and doing everybody's work and was really nice in demeanor, while a skinny white manager was just sitting down and piddling on the computer. A tall skinny black man was cooking all by himself in the grill area (drive through was wrapped around the building), and a skinny black girl was in the drive through being very slow, while a skinny white girl was alone on fries (also being very slow). One evening I was being extremely lazy. I ordered via UberEats to deliver White Castle. I've been away from the Midwest since 2012 & had a taste for it. Bad idea! The order didn't process right through the app. I'll blame it on that AND the store. It was in the "preparing order" phase for 30 mins. I asked my guy friend to pick up my food instead. Tried to cancel, didn't work so I switched to 'Pick Up'. He arrived to the location to call me & say, "There's only two ppl working up here & the guy said there's no UberEats order with your #. The best way for me to review White Castles (this location) is to split it up in two parts: the food and this location. The food: I am from STL, so I grew up on these little burgers. I absolutely love them. As a matter of fact, I grew up eating them in the morning and still love a good White Castle in the AM. I prefer no onions extra pickles!! If you have never tried a White Castle, they are these little square beef burgers cooked atop of a bed of onions and topped with cheese (should you prefer). Back in the day, it was a place for burgers, with or without cheese, a fish sandwich, fries, sodas and shakes. They offered danishes such as cheese and donuts (plain and chocolate). But today, they have a full menu of everything from breakfast sandwiches, to chicken rings. I have tried almost everything on the menu including their cheesesticks, but somethings should be left to the larger sit-down establishments. For White Castles, I would suggest the following: burgers, fries, breakfast sandwiches (really good and they use real eggs), fish sandwiches, and soda. By all means, try everything if you can, these are just the items I think they have mastered. This location: Now what you will notice is that every location is different. The staff, the food, the cleanliness, and the promptness. This location is not one of my favorites any any of those categories. I am not sure if this staff is unhappy all the time, or just not in the mood to work, but you, the customer, must have patience when visiting this location. They have never seemed to be in a rush to get your order to you...even when it is not super busy. Their speaker in the drive-thru is super loud so if you happen to have a sleeping baby in the back, be prepared to deal with a waking child. One tip to note here is to be sure to check your bag before you leave for accuracy. Can't tell you how many times myself or friends have left and the darn burgers are wrong! Save yourself some time and disappointment and check before you leave. Overall, White Castle's is the place to go. They are open all year 24 hours per day except on Christmas. They are actually closed and this will be the day you crave them! I do on Christmas Eve to prepare for my craving. They also have Valentines Day events where you can be waited on just like a fine dining establishment. Check them out and let me know what you think!!! read more

We visit fairview heights twice a year because my wife is from here. The first place we visit before we do anything is white castle. I get that every local has there opinion about the onion steamed burger and lack of smiling service or maybe that they are always hiring. If you only eat this twice a year these little scrumptious burgers could be mistaken for a five star burger..... until you let it digest and you hear your stomach rumbling. Although a good treat, your stomach reminds you of the bad choice you made. My order: 2 double cheese burgers non pickles - the bite sized burgers are steamed on a bed of onions. It's an inquiry taste but also addictive. Fish nibblers - small tater tot shaped fish nuggets. These are my favorite especially when they come out hot and fresh. Seriously, folks, what could be better than an emulsified----look it up, just means "gooey goodness all mixed up like a pair of beagles and a pair of poodles all in one petri dish of goodness. Then, you add in the millions of amoeba sized onions on that chemically created bun dripping with....dripping with....dripping with...well, the goodness that only comes from a forbidden place (deep in the forest in the Highland Glens) yeah, that's it....add a dollop of blazing yellow liquid turmeric and you have finally reached nirvana, without ever having to get in one of those uncomfortable yoga positions. I wish I could give this particular location less than 1 Star. I went there yesterday, ordered a 20 pack of sliders-add cheese as well as fries and 6 pack chicken rings for a family of 6. After 20 minutes of waiting at the far end of the drive thru, we were presented with 20 burgers with no cheese, got all our fries, no chicken rings. The "manager" refused to apologize for the wait or that they messed up our order, that they had read back to us correctly, then shut the window on us while we were talking. Extremely poor service and the manager and employees were super rude and unprofessional as well. I placed my order on the app an hour ahead of my arrival to give them time to make my crave cases and when I got there they serviced not one but TWO super long lines ahead of my order. After waiting for an extra hour I went back to the window to speak to the employees to ask where my food was and they slammed the window on my face and walked away. So I politely knocked on the window and no one came on purpose while they stared at me through the window and kept walking pass. So I got the so called manager to come back to the window and she started yelling at me saying "customers in line are prioritized over me" even though I already paid and had been waiting a very long time. She then told me it was my fault I had to come back to the window twice to talk to them. So my mother came out of the car and proceeded to talk to her and she began to get louder shoving my food out of the window saying "we had to remake your food you came late and never came to the window!!!!!" Which was not true at all because I came 30 minutes before my order was ready because I know how busy it gets there and waited. On top of voluntarily waiting 30 minutes, I waited an additional HOUR AFTER MY ORDER WAS SUPPOSED TO BE READY. After she shoved my food out of the window (At this point my car was parked in the crave zone where she told me to wait an hour prior, which I had no problem doing.) I was outside standing at the window trying to reason with her. At this point I knew she was lying because if my food was ready at 4:15 I wouldn't have waited an additional hour on my time for her to "remake my food". I was outside waiting at 3:45 and no food was given to me they knew I was there and kept servicing other people ahead of me. After speaking with the manager and my mom coming out of the car to reason with her I politely asked for a refund and she refused to issue me one. I then asked her for corporate number and her name and she pushed my food out of the window, which I'm glad I caught, and slammed the window shut on my face and walked away. If you live in this area I suggest you eat elsewhere this location is unprofessional and disorderly. I WILL NEVER EAT AT THIS LOCATION EVER AGAIN!!!!! read more
