This is a great reminder of Americana! A better time when America was number 1 in industry and standard of living for all American's. These short order hamburger stands and diners fed the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s work force. When I was growing up in the 1970s, there were White Castles in both Clark and Westfield (no longer there) and Lloyd's (a breakfast, lunch and dinner counter) with a similar menu and cooking style in the Garwood Mall (also no longer in existence). The menu has hamburgers, hot dogs, cubed and Philly steaks, grill cheese, and breakfast including omlets, Hash browns, taylor ham and breakfast sandwiches. Sides include onion rings and French fries. My favorite is the large hamburger with fried onions. I have been eating them since the late '60s. Bring your camera, cash (they don't accept credit cards), and appetite. read more

Was in the area for a local cross country country meet at Oak Ridge Park and passed by White Diamond and was intrigued by the looks and did some research and found this place came pretty highly rated. Would have loved to dine in, but was on the run to get back, so opted to order it to go. Picked two small hamburgers and fries with a price point of about $6.50 out the door. Burgers were tasty as well as the fries. Everything one would expect from a small time local establishment. With other menu items that looked just as tasty, may have to plan more time when I find myself in the area. Pretty sure there is at least one more event in the near future. While not confident, pretty sure it's a cash only business and Whole sign says 24/7, like most places nowadays I don't think they are 24/7. Definitely worth checking out. I have been coming here since I've been a kid and it seems like the burgers and egg sandwiches have never change. Almost like a step back in time. Very quick service and really delicious fast food. I prefer a "Diamond burger" to anything from Burger King, McDonald's or Wendy's. I just introduced my kids to this place and I think they're hooked as well... Funny story: When I was in college and our fraternity took a road trip to a college in Virginia, the fraternity served actual White Diamond burgers at a party. Now understand, that this was a 7 hour drive (325 miles away) ONE WAY from Clark. Apparently they made their pledges take a White Diamond run each semester. I don't play favorites and I won't start now. This is one of the best burger spots/ diners in jersey. I have been to ALOT and this place will always be home. This little place is a Diamond in the rough. I called in advanced because my son is in a wheelchair and I know the place is small lady on the phone was super nice was honest said it was crowded for lunch crowd. Give her an idea when will be coming and she will try and get us a table. We told her in about an hour which was about one. We got there before one. It was still pretty crowded my husband got a menus we waited a few minutes then a got a table in the back that worked for us. Super nice waitress food is delicious. This little diner is exactly that. While tiny and quaint the food was pretty good. We stopped here for a late meal after a road trip from North Carolina. The kids got breakfast platters. They really piled it on. Hubby got a pancake platter that he remarked was nothing special. My double cheeseburger, California style was great. It was super juicy and cooked just right. Just needed some salt and pepper. The cook here has very long hair and one of those hairs ended up in my sons breakfast platter. It got scrambled in with the eggs. Third stop on our tour led us to the town of Clark for sliders at White Diamond. Apparently, all burger shacks at the start of the trend had clean imagery tied in with their names hence the "white diamond", "white manna" and of course "white castle". The restaurant is clean and quaint. It transports you to a time of greasers and boppers. You're actually expecting the Fonz to come walking in to give you a quick noogie. This was my second favorite burger joint on the tour. The burgers were fatter than the first three and bigger in size. Seasoned nicely and seemed like a distant cousin of a White Castle burger (mostly because of the onions). The prices were very good here too. Definitely worth the drive over. read more

If I'm putting it to test against a restaurant burger that is a fresh ground mix of delicious beef and cooked to my perfect medium, then this would not be 4 stars. I am ranking this amongst the "white" labeled diner/dives in NJ that make this flat top slider with onions, pickles and ketchup and cheese if you like. Being born in JC,I have frequented the ever so famous white manor in jersey city for most of my life. White diamonds burgers are similar but I think better because of the cook of the meat. White manor is on a flat top but steams for the most part where white diamond gives a little more of a seer to the beef. I've been here twice and the first time we ordered single sliders and I was not impressed. This time I opted for double sliders. Much better. They kinda just take the beef for 2 sliders and smash it together so it's not 2 separate patties on a bun. I thought it had better flavor being there was more meat less bun. Their soft bun slider is not really slider size it's larger so the double makes the beef more present. Ordered fries too but they are average frozen crinkle cut. Not bad, I'm just not a fan. I would prefer a skinny fry with my burger. Take it for a spin. Go for breakfast or for the burger staple. It's been years since I have been at white diamond. First rule of White Diamond is do NOT mention White Rose in Highland Park. Now I have been eating at either of those locations since I was a kid. Both are great. Similar in many ways but no where near the same. Now anyways. White Diamond is great. It's always a consistent in terms of flavor and quality.
