She gave me a whole new experience of custom-made dresses and I enjoyed the process of making my qipao come true. When designing a dress (or any design for that matter), a great designer who understands your vision is a must. I came to her with an idea and inspiration, she delivered. I wanted a qipao that has the traditional concept but a modern twist (or 1950's Hong Kong, or In the Mood for Love), with the capability to allow me dance all night (oh I do!). From picking the fabric, measuring, sketching, fittings, and making changes, she helped me see my vision through her magic. I absolutely love the final product (and I got compliments from friends and family). My husband loves the qipao on me. Something about Kelima that I just feel so drawn to - she is soft-spoken, she is graceful in her demeanor, and she is just so crafty. Her designs are just dreamy, romantic, and feminine that will make any bride feel like a bride that walks out of a story book. She is not pushy (to sell you her ideas), but she has her way to make you see that she is right about the dress she is making for you. All you have to do is, enjoy the process and leave everything to her. We share the same love for tea so it's always a treat sipping on the tea when trying on my dress (and looking at myself in the mirrow). I almost always got to carried away at my appointments because we just kept talking and talking. I didn't fly to TW or China for my qipoa. Instead, I found Kelima here in the city. Kelima was kind enough to talk us through some of the summer dresses at the store, but was sad she didn't have her size. Kelima said it'd take about a month and would call me when it was ready. With a special Opera Ball we are readying to attend at the end of Sept. we looked at a few dresses and went through the process for custom designing her own gown - a one of a kind design and gown. Next month should be very interesting... and you can bet your bottom dollar my girl's going to have an amazing gown and hands down, I think we found our designer! The fabrics used were sumptuous, elegant and begged to be looked at and touched. We even saw a dress being finalized that was made of a material you wouldn't dream of, yet, was absolutely breathtaking... For exceptional service, quality and attention to detail, i absolutely recommend you see Kelima; and while I wasn't "allowed" to look at any of the bridal-wear, I can only imagine how amazing they all look. This shop puts together custom gifts and designs party favors for special events as well. There are a number of reasons to give them a call - friendly and courteous service, prompt in responding to projects, creativity was off the charts, and the "out of the box" ideas. Cara, the designer I worked with, was so easy to get along with. She was quick to brainstorm how my gift presentation could look like, based on items I brought to her. She added very nice touches and got the colors exactly right. Check out the photo of my Greek Pantry themed gift basket. It looks stunning!! I can't wait to bring it to my event. While I was visiting her space, I could see other projects she was working on and when speaking with her about the items all around her shop, I could see in an instant that I was working with a total professional. We had someone come up and introduce themselves saying they were going to work with us (we had an appointment) but after waiting 10+ minutes for them to finish up with a client downstairs another person came up to us to show us dresses. While we were waiting, we were asked to wait downstairs (general shopping area) as to not disturb the vibe of upstairs (bridal only). Which is fine but it would have been nice to see the dresses while we were waiting. Also, since there were 2 more groups waiting at the time all the seats in the store were taken so we were awkwardly standing off to the side. Finally we were able to see the dresses and I am not sure if they just had like the newest collection available for try-on but I felt like their selection was limited. I scheduled an appointment because I kept getting ads on instagram for them with a ton of beautiful lace ballgowns with a ton of variety but in store there were like three. By the time we tried on the dresses we were just so over it I didn't really ask any follow ups as to why the selection was so small, so my recommendation would be to call ahead and check to see if the dresses you are interested in are in store. As bridal appointments go, I felt that it was missing the experience. Like it felt more like I was going shopping for everyday clothes if that makes sense. It was missing the atmosphere, lighting, seating, champagne, etc.
