Our family of six spent two wonderful nights at the Exotic Resort Zoo, and we had an absolute…read moreblast! The staff was friendly, the petting zoo was a hit, the safari tour was fantastic, and, honestly, how many places let you kiss a camel? Definitely a memorable experience!
We stayed in Cabin 8, which sleeps up to eight people and has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a nice deck, and a grill out front. The cabin overlooks the goat pasture, and behind that is the emu nursery and the kangaroos, which kept everyone entertained. The pool was great for cooling off, and the fishing pond next to the goats gave us one more reason to stay outside and enjoy the beautiful setting.
Now...about those beds.
Let's just say the camels were probably more comfortable.
The cabin has four double beds (two in each bedroom), and they won the award for "Most Likely to Make You Miss Home." By the second night, family members voluntarily chose to sleep in the car--which, surprisingly, became the luxury suite. We even promoted one of the kids to the couch so an adult could enjoy the "extra" bed. Unfortunately, it wasn't much of an upgrade. Beds were, lumpy, bumpy and short.
The adults in our group ranged from 155-185 pounds, and we all agreed the mattresses had seen better decades.
Would we come back? Absolutely! The animals, staff, activities, and beautiful setting made for an unforgettable family getaway. We just hope the next time we visit; the beds have had their own safari adventure--to the mattress recycling center!
