I believe this illegal on several fronts. But on top of that they were inappropriate, cruel and likely also illegal in their public and private treatment of employee. My GF was raving about the shoe selection and how great and knowledgeable the employees were in fitting sport shoes. When I walked in and started looking around there were no other customers (When I left it was getting busy.). A woman who looked pretty young came out and asked if I needed help. I instantly "kinda" mentally wrote her off as the employee who drew the short straw and got "Saturday" duty and probably knew nothing about shoes. Mea culpa:). Well... I was wrong! He stayed calm, explained exactly how the membership would save me money on the repair, and he was completely right. What struck me was that he kept trying to help me even though I was being uncool because I assumed it was just some scam to get me to sign up for something I didn't need. He also charged me only for the work my bike actually needed instead of a full tune-up, which saved me even more. I hadn't ridden the bike in five years, none of the gears worked, and when I got it back it was flawless. He's a great mechanic and a genuinely cool guy. I even stood around talking with him for about 10 minutes after dropping the bike off. Highly recommended. I'm glad I now know who to call if my bike ever has a heart attack..
