Yesterday my husband stopped at this market on this way home to grab bread to go with dinner. He got all the way home and I opened the bread and the whole thing was covered in mold. The date on it was 10/27 he purchased it on 10/28. Tried calling the business to see what we could do about this and the phone number online doesn't work. read more

For such a small, local supermarket, this one rates pretty high. Almost every time we visit my husband's mother and her family in White Lake, we inevitably make a stop into the White Lake Supermarket. It's located near my mother-in-law's house, so it's pretty convenient for us to pick up last minute essentials, especially for holiday gatherings, etc. I actually don't know what we'd do in a pinch during inclement weather, holidays and unexpected get-togethers if this store wasn't so close by. Everything else is fairly far away in the White Lake/Highland area and this is the closest full-service grocery store there is. I really don't know what my mother-in-law would do without this store being so nearby since she has developed night blindness and doesn't drive after dusk. From exterior appearances, it would seem like this is just a small, local supermarket with a limited selection and probably exorbitant prices because of the area. Well, while it is a small market, this family-owned grocery store outpaces places like Kroger, Walmart and the like. The selection and service can't be beat. They have a full-service butcher shop/deli in the rear in the store with super personable service, an enviable selection of fresh produce, including a sizable variety of organic options, that I've yet to find at most big box stores, excellent baked goods, a well-stocked dairy case, and a huge liquor/wine/beer display covering an entire wall. The prices are quite good for the area and competitive on the whole even though it's a family-operated market and has been for years. Plus, they always have a couple of "end cap" specials featuring deeply discounted items, like baked goods, seasonal/special occasion wares, international foods, etc. It seems like they're always running a big sale or something. This market sells Spartan products, which I like. I believe Spartan quality to be higher than other "store brands," so I'm pleased they sell the Spartan line here instead of something else. The service is as small town and personable as it can get. My husband's mom is always saying she feels like she's in a time warp when she shops here because of how nice everyone is. They usually only have two checkout lanes open (three for when it's packed) and yet they always manage to get us in and out the door quickly, regardless of how big or small our order is or how long the line was to begin with. I love this small grocery store.. it has everything you could ever need so there is no reason to fight the crowds at the big stores. The butcher shop has top of the line cuts of meat and seafood and I've never been disappointed. I've always been treated well and the people are very polite. As a business owner myself for over 40 years I do pay attention to the small stuff when I am the customer. Not sure who "Anna K" was talking to when she had her issue but I don't believe she was treated in the way she claims. Sorry Anna K... everyone else loves this place... read more

White Lake Supermarket is walking distance to my house, which makes it incredibly convenient when I forget something at the last minute. This family owned store has a nice selection including a nice beer, wine, and spirits offering. They are known for their meat selection and the steaks are amazing. The produce department also has a nice mix. Don't walk in expecting 100 varieties of rice or something like that- but for a small local place, they have everything you need to do your shopping and their prices are reasonable. We love this store. Very close to home so it's convenient when I don't want to go to Meijer. They have the best bacon around and I can always guarantee fresh meat. Their staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Management is amazing and the owners are very friendly as well. Perfect market that has the essentials. You're not going to find huge sales here but the prices are marked fairly, often times less than or the same as regular price items at Meijer and Kroger. The Deli, produce and meat are fresh. Beer/wine and seltzer selection would surprise you. When you need a quick trip to grab a few items, this is the place for you! read more

This friendly, family owned and operated market has fantastic fresh meats, most of which are butchered in-house. That approach, which is considered old-skool these days, enables the meat to be more fresh than vacuum sealed, plastic-wrapped meat. Not to mention, customers can watch in awe as whole sides of USDA choice or prime sides of beef are broken down start to finish in the open butchery department behind the full-service meat counter. As far as the rest of their product, the grocery variety is amazing especially considering the store size. Their grocery prices remain modest as they are a Spartan store. The produce department is also noteworthy considering the owner still hand-picks the product at the Eastern Market and Detroit Produce Terminal. Instead of traveling through thirty long aisles of unnecessary product, this quality driven, well-operated, in-and-out grocery store makes the most sense in a time-sensative world. read more

Kroger Clicklist, is very helpful but usually it doesn't take long but it's been very slow. It took them a hour to get our groceries! One person working, with 9 people waiting. This service was terrible! I won't be going to this Kroger anymore. read more

The food was rotting inside the bag when I opened it. Of course I tried to bring this up to management and after he refused to talk to me for a week he finally gave me a second of his day. I thought finally only to realize he was extremely rude and cares nothing for the quality of his food or the feelings of his customers. 0/10 would not recommend. I have been a customer of the White Lake Supermarket for most of my life. You can have your meats professionally cut and wrapped while you wait and the quality is outstanding. It's always been a family atmosphere, super clean, well organized with fresh produce and baked goods too. You can always find great deals here as it is a Spartan store too. read more
