I first used White Mountain Air (in Amsterdam, NY) in my previous house a few years back, and had such a great experience with Beth (one of the owners), that I called them back for service on my new home without hesitation. To no surprise, I had an equally great experience as I did initially, although my invoice was a bit more than before, due to a completely different system configuration and more main vents and returns than my first home. Plus, the price of filters have increased. This home was built in 2009, and none of the previous owners ever had the ducts cleaned, so it was critical that I get the service and I knew White Mountain Air would do the job right, and it'd be worth the extra expense. We contacted this company after receiving a flyer in the local flavor magazine. We had a musty smell after turning on the A/C and having been in the house for almost 30 years and have never had the vents cleaned, it was time.  We understood to clean and sanitize the three main vents would add to the cost, the technician priced it all out and said he could get it all done in a couple of hours. I scheduled an appointment months ago to have my vents cleaned. I was given a time frame of 7am-9am which I called to confirm a week before. I took work off and waited for them to arrive. I got a phone call at 8:55am saying they couldn't make it. This is very poor customer service. I was given no reason as to why they couldn't make it, however after reading other reviews this seems to happen quite frequently with this company. read more

Beware for a bait and switch. They advertise $7 per duct to clean and when we called them to explain their fees, they did not disclose that they charge another $89 per "main" which made our estimate go from $210 ($7 per supply/return which we had 30) to $858 after adding in 6 mains at $89 each and another $114 for 6 access panels. They do not disclose any of these fees when you call for pricing, ask about their fees and set up your appointment. They are not an accredited Better Business Bureau business. read more

Saw $7 per vent in Local Flavor. Called and scheduled appt. Ray did not provide a quote up front for all work. Later I find out that the Mains are not included in the $7 vent cost and neither is dryer vent or a couple other "recommendations." A device that should have cost $196 now cost over $1,000! Don't believe the low price - pay attention to all the fine print. When I called I was told $7 per vent with a minimum of 12 - and we could get the free dryer duct cleaning. Not a word about "mains" and since we moved from an older house with no duct work we had no idea. When the technician arrived he was a fast talker. Said we needed to "read the fine print" - the dryer duct cleaning was not free unless we got the mains done and a $100 job went to $480. And he tried all the scare tactics - to hear him talk we were going to die of respiratory illness that night if we didn't get it done. I was very disappointed since the woman I spoke to on the phone was so nice I truly expected a great experience. We had the tech leave without doing the work because we felt it was very deceptive and high pressure. read more

Buyer Beware... We had White Mountain Air do the initial duct cleaning in 2017, at which time we purchased the decontamination process. The cost of everything exceeded $2000. The results were okay, no dramatic drop in dust like the technician said we'd see. Fast forward to 2019. We called to have the 'no charge' cleaning, (which they recommend every 2 to 3 years). They said it would cost $399 because we had to purchase the decontam. process. We explained that we already purchased this, so it should be no charge... We pulled the contract. It states that "future cleanings are NO CHARGE with the purchase of the decontamination process at $399." What it doesn't tell you - the decontamination process is not a one-time purchase. You must purchase it each and every time you have a cleaning (recommended every 2-3 years). So essentially the "no charge" cleaning costs $399. This is noted by an earlier reviewer as well. Very misleading - and possibly illegal. Customer service was no help. They just kept repeating that the contract is clear - you must purchase the decontamination with every cleaning. Having asthma, terrible allergies, and expecting a child, we called White Mountain Air to clean our air ducts. They did an immaculate job cleaning our ducts, so much so that our cleaning lady even made a comment "where did all the dust in your house go". They took pre/post pictures to show us the difference they made. Our indoor air quality has significantly increased since they have been here. I am not having as many issues with asthma attacks or allergic reactions. The house had an oil furnace originally so we had them use a soot sealer. No more weird oily smells come out of our vents. The previous owners had pets, you wouldn't believe the amount of crap that was cleaned out of our vents! We also had them clean out our dryer vent. The technicians were on time, personable, and did a wonderful job. The prices were fair. We made the right decision on calling them, we are so happy with the noticeable results and the increased quality of life that this cleaning has brought us. We 100% recommend this company for anyone looking for the same results we received. read more

FYI - The promotional offer they have for vent cleaning ($7/per vent) is looped into other services (that need to be done in order to have your system cleaned properly). "Recommended services" actually means the price for the rest of the project to be completed (successfully). Service was good, but the costs aren't always completely clear. Make sure you have a clear understanding of what will be done and what it will cost before booking an appointment, because what is expected top be a $200 job can actually be more like $700-$800. If you choose to buy the maintenance plan, be very clear about what our includes. You have to purchase the same $399 sanitization service needed for the maintenance plan again for any future uses. That is to say, future cleanings will still cost $399 each time. This is a family owned business, so they do work diligently to address customer service issues. read more

My neighbor had recommended their services as she thought they did a great job and since we were also looking to have our vents cleaned we decided to give them a try. I should have read the reviews on here first! The pricing is not clear at all. The only reason I had some sort of idea how much is was going to cost is because my friend showed me her bill. When you call all they tell you is $7 per vent, which you would think wouldn't be too expensive. What they don't tell you is that there is also a price for the removal and cleaning of all return vents and supply vents in addition to the $7 per vent that you were quoted. There is also a price per return main which can be anywhere from 65-129 per main. So for 17 vents that I had cleaned, you would think the bill from the quote would be around $119.....my total bill was $494. This was not a surprise as like I said I saw my friends bill before I scheduled but still very misleading. There was a woman who came, who I think is the owner or something, she left half way through and then a younger kid who did the work the whole day. It does take all day so I am assuming that things are getting done and hopefully properly but when the job was done, 8 hours later, and the guy was leaving I noticed the vent in my sons room was still off the wall with all the screws just hanging out on the floor. My husband caught him before he drove away and he came back in and put it on. We should have checked all the rooms because there was another room where the vent was off the wall and my husband had to put it back on. A vent in an older room that was torn off the wall and broken. I know it was old so I am not saying they broke it, but I think we should have been told what happened instead of finding it the next day just broken hanging off the wall. Red tape was left on probably half the vents. Dirt and dust left on the floor around many vents. I never received my before and after photos that I was told I would get. I called 5-6 times and then I finally received before pictures but no after pictures. It has been 6 weeks now so I am just giving up on those pictures. They do have additional services you can purchase and then you can get on a maintenance program for future cleaning. SOOOO glad I didn't pay for that! Will not call them again in the future or recommend them too anyone. read more

Excellent service. I had several companies quote me double what these guys charge. Plus they offer more than other companies for their price. I saw the video inspection -then again when they were done. It was impressive how they're able to clean the ducts and all that was removed. My house was vacant before I moved in and there were plenty of dead mice they were able to remove that I had a feeling we're down there but no idea if it was just a feeling until they came and showed me. We purchased the warranty program that is a locked in rate for future years and can be used an unlimited amount of times. They are family run and take the time to answer questions before you ask unlike other companies who rushed me off the phone. Cameron and Jim we're great. read more

You definitely pay for what you get! Their technician made a few mistakes while cleaning my ducts, main, and dryer vent and when I brought this to the owners attention, they were insulting, threatening and pointed the finger back at me!! Instead of acknowledging my concerns, some of which were serious, they insulted me and claimed i was trying to get their company "on the hook" if i have to get a new furnace!! They also claimed i was complainig after they cashed my check!!! UNBELIEVABLE! (Which was almost 3 months after my service by the way, and i had been trying to get this resolved since day 1..they wouldnt even return some of my calls to discuss this, Even after their staff assured me they received my messages! They said if i share my experience and negative review, that this This would not be not "taken lightly nor overlooked"..who says that to a customer after their technician made the mistake and admittedly said so!!! They could have killed someone if my husband didnt reconnect our dryer vent back properly! No acknowledgemnt nor empathy, not even a simple apology!!!!!! They claim to be a small family run business who cares about their customers. Their mission states they make sure their customers are 100% satisfied..what a joke! To be fair to White Mountain Air, the appointment I had for 7 February 2019 had to be changed several times because of some family matters that needed to be addressed. Also, in ensuring I had the right business to excoriate, I landed on the White Mountain Air, with the symbol that matched the one in the ad I responded to (maybe that was my first mistake), which corresponds to a Delanson, NY 12053 address and a 603-463-0033 phone number. Also, the contact number I used for this fiasco was 518-355-7000, which is an Albany, NY number. That being said, I would not recommend these people because they are incapable of telling time and are grossly unprofessional. I has an appoint for 12noon on 7 February. I expected someone to be here at 12noon. It's an appointment after all. At about 12:25PM, I called the office and asked if her people can tell time. She told me Joe - the person who was to do the work - would be at my home at about 1:30PM and that the work would take about an hour and a half or so. She also said that the 12noon to 3PM was the "time window." If this is so, why then did someone call me wanting me to open the "window" to 11:45AM? Also, when I was called with a reminder of my "appointment," a real term of art, the time was completely different. Really?!? Unacceptable! Not professional at all, as confirmed by Joe's behavior, below. I made it clear when I made the 7 February appointment that I wanted them here at 12noon. I also told her I expect this garbage from the cable company. I told her to tell Joe not to bother coming. Well, within 5 minutes of that conversation, Joe arrives. I tell him I expected him at 12noon, you know that appointed time. I told him I just got off the phone with the office and that I expected him at 12noon. His reply was, "Well that's the service industry for you." He copped indignant tone and attitude when I told him when my appointment was, and that I expected him to be on time. I shared with him that I need to get ready for something later that evening and needed to be out of the house at 5PM. I built my day around him being here on time and out by 3PM. He stated he did not want to provide me with service - more attitude. Fine with me. Joe makes a poor representative.
