Our 9 year old refrigerator stopped working. It is a 30.7 Cubic foot unit. Had lots of food in it. LG gave us several places to contact. The first place was not very helpful other than the compressor had failed and suggested it was not worth repairing due to the cost and uncertainty of getting parts in a timely fashion and charged me over a $100 for this information. A new replacement would cost about $3,600. Contacted the second place which was The Appliance Specialist. Jennifer took the call and immediately started checking all of our options. There where serval to choose from and she made a recommendation which we took. She then started ordering all of the things needed for the repair. Our refrigerator had a 10 year warranty on the compressor from LG. Of course that id not include parts, Freon or labor. She ordered the parts on a Friday and they all arrived on Tuesday the next week. Steve and his father (cool that father and son work together, great guys) came on Thursday took about 2 hours and we had an operational refrigerator again. Steve and his father came back twice after that to top off the Freon level as there must have been an air bubble in the system or something and the defrost heater control failed for the freezer section after sitting for a week shut down before the compressor was replaced. Here is where Jennifer really shined, the replacement compressor required the replacement of the control module. This was a $220 dollar item. We had no choice if we wanted to get the refrigerator running again. She kept asking LG to wave the cost of the control module as it was not our fault that the replacement Compressor required a new control module and that LG should cover that cost. We paid the full cost of the repair including the control module. Of course this all happened just as the Shut down due to the Covid-19 started. It took Jennifer several weeks but one day I got an email that she had finally been able to contact someone at LG and they agreed that we should not have to pay for the control module and that a check for the cost of the module was in the mail for us. Now for the end of the story, total cost of the repair was under $1,000!! If you want something repaired in the appliance industry and the people have the old fashion job ethic that is rarely seen these days, then get hold of The Appliance Specialist. I can't say enough about Steve, the owner and the person who repaired two of my appliances on the same day. I thought I was going to have to spend a lot of money to replace a washer and dishwasher that wasn't that old. Steve came to my house and repaired them both for much less money than I thought I was going to have to spend. It was on Valentine's Day and it was the BEST present I could have ever gotten. Steve knows his craft and got the job done in record time. I will use The Appliance Specialist from now on. Their pricing is reasonable as well. Where I would recommend a change is with Kelly, who is rude, unprofessional and told me to "just buy a new washer rather than spend the money to fix it." She either needs to be replaced or be given some customer relations training. She's the face of the business and if I hadn't called back and spoken to Abbra I know I wouldn't have used them. As it turned out Abbra was the reverse of Kelly and dealing with her was pleasant, and professional. She's an asset to the company. Thank you again Steve! read more

I can't fault the service. They did their best to fix a new LG refrigerator which did not function. Freezer sometimes froze but immediately temperature raised to 55+ degrees F. Six months, and still LG would not replace this lemon. Telephone conversations with LG assured me it was fully covered under warranty then did nothing. This was not the fault of Appliance Specialist. Finally after six months, Lowes stepped in and arranged for me to get this replaced with a different manufacturer, nicer and more expensive at no more cost to me. Will never buy or recommend LG again. Warranty is worthless. read more

I am a repeat customer of the appliance specialist which says a lot. They call back punctually, show up at the appointed time. They repaired my dishwasher once (required 2 visits -- didn't charge for the 2nd one) and when they came back after it broke again -- a different issue this time the tech frankly told me it might be cheaper to get a new one. This meant he wouldn't be getting the pricey repair charge. I like companies that believe in honesty not the upcharge. In addition to the dishwasher they've fixed an oven. I wil continue to use them for all my appliance repair needs. read more

We had a non-functioning ice maker on our Whirlpool refrigerator. The technician arrived, and in 5 minutes diagnosed the problem. They came back with the part (which had to be ordered) the next week and installed it in under an hour. They emailed confirmation of both appointments, which included where we were in line in the time frame we were scheduled for. They also phoned when they left the prior job and gave an estimate of their arrival. This was a extended warranty repair and I felt their communication was excellent. read more

I have been looking for an appliance repair service for sometime. Hesitant to try someone new because we have had bad experiences in the recent past. This group was wonderful....even though we were at the beginning of the COVID19 here in the USA. They had pretty much assessed what was wrong with our LG front load dryer over the phone. We replaced a 14 year old wall oven after the Appliance Specialist technicians determined that the main control panel needed replacement. Unfortunately a replacement panel was no longer available. We ordered a new wall oven from Home Depot but had to contract our own installer. We arranged for the Appliance Specialist's technicians to return to do the job. This was the second company that was sent by the insurance company to fix our fridge. They listened to the issue and seemed to know exactly what it was. And they actually fixed the problem. They Indicated it would need a new part. Which it did and they came and completed the project. They were respectful of our home, cleaned up and wore masks and were friendly. The guys were both terrific! I had an issue with my washing machine, in which water was leaking out the bottom. I found the part for it (it was not stocked by the company) and got it. They persistently tried to adjust the freezer gasket on my new fridge so it didn't leak. Finally, decision was that the door had to be replaced - it appeared to have a very slight torque in one corner. Jenn-Air said they wouldn't replace the door cost-free, but Appliance Specialist folks went so far out of their way to get me the part cost-free. Great people!! read more

Great experience. A professional service person accurately diagnosed problem with a Samsung refrigerator, offered an interim solution (overnight manual defrost), then came back with parts a week or so later and completed repair. All-in cost dramatically less than replacing the reefer. They are far better than Samsung's almost non-existent service. read more

We've dealt with this service numerous times for refrigerator repairson 2 different refrigerators. Sometimes the wait for service was a bit long but it seems that was a wait for parts.
