But once I got settled in, the atmosphere was actually pretty cozy and inviting. What immediately impressed me was the service. This place was packed, yet our appetizers arrived within minutes. Not only were they fast, but they were genuinely delicious. That's the kind of first impression I can get behind. Our waiter Lupe was absolutely wonderful. Friendly, well-spoken, constantly smiling, and knowledgeable about the menu. When we asked for recommendations, he didn't miss a beat. We love an educated server, it makes all the difference. Now for the main course. I ordered the patty melt, and unfortunately, it just wasn't my favorite. The smell threw me off a bit, and the sandwich itself ended up tasting both soggy and burnt at the same time, with the flavor lingering longer than I would've liked. It happens. Thankfully, the fries came to the rescue. Crispy, flavorful, and exactly what I wanted. But the true star of the evening? That cookie skillet. Baby, THAT was my real dinner. Warm, gooey, fresh from the oven, topped with the perfect amount of melting ice cream. I practically forgot I had ordered anything else. So while my patty melt and I may not be speaking anymore, the excellent service, speedy kitchen, delicious appetizers, amazing fries, and that heavenly cookie skillet made this a great experience overall. I'd definitely come back next time, I'll just let the cookie skillet lead the way.

Food came without delays. Food was the big disappointment. My salad was limp and the honey/mustard dressing was too sharp and did not taste good. Blackened haddock would have been OK, but was dreadfully salty. Fries were OK. Another diner said the Reeuben was gloppy and falling apart. There's a compact but decent selection od beers on draft. I won't be back -- the food was too disappointing. If I had a do-over, I'd have lobbied group to go to Hardware in North Aurora -- close and much better food.

We hosted 175 people and it was a perfect sized venue. The inside of the building itself has large windows (actually sliding glass doors) which let in lots of beautiful natural light, and also nice wood trim. It's a very neutral space that you can decorate however you'd like. The ladies that help with event coordination are very nice and they loved helping us make the event perfect. The club is almost entirely run by volunteers from the community (it's a charitable organization that does so much good both locally and nationally) and they all did a fantastic job. Our guests could not stop RAVING about the food! The potatoes, chicken, pork chops, and chicken wings were some of the favorites. Everything was super smooth and you can tell how much they all care about making your day special. I would definitely recommend Elburn Lions Club for a wedding shower, reception, rehearsal dinner, etc. or any other group event you are looking for (birthday, family reunion, office Christmas party, etc.)!
