The only thing they don't have on the buffet is beef brisket, which is what we love, but all the food that we got the shredded pork, ribs, barbecue chicken, vegetables, bread...everything was really good. It's an odd place to have a barbecue restaurant, but it was definitely enjoyable. The service was excellent and they were very good about keeping the place clean. Being able to watch the airplanes land and takeoff was just an extra bonus.

But it was worth those few extra minutes for front row seats of the action on the tarmac below. We arrived during their lunchtime buffet hours, although you can also order from their regular menu. I'm not usually a buffet person, but since I wanted to try a little bit of everything it was definitely the way to go. For $18 I got some ribs, pulled pork, and BBQ chicken. Not to mention, a side of their delish cornbread, and a scoop of two of my Southern faves: mac & cheese and collard greens. Sadly, I was too full of the deliciousness to make a second trip, but if I had it would have been for a heaping pile of mashed potatoes and a generous scoop of their homemade peach cobbler. If you like airplanes and BBQ, add this to your list for your next visit to the area. They also have a full bar, though on this hot day we were happy with bottomless refills of their refreshing sweet tea.

A true southern gem. My husband and I have a motto "if they serve it on styrofoam plates, it's…read moregonna be good" and once again we were not disappointed. It's a small business and most people ordered to go. Very few tables and parking. We walked in as a party of 4 and they didn't have seating, but we were waved over by a local to share his table and gladly took him up on his offer. Come to find out he was a local columnist and seems to be known very well by the community. We had great conversation, over a great meal. The owner came out and chatted with us for a little. It's been family owned since 1930! Everyone we encountered was very friendly. Including the local sheriff who was the cashier. We were greeted by a friendly server and a basket of hush puppies and a bucket of honey butter. We ordered a little of everything. True NC pork BBQ, southern style fried chicken, fried shrimp, boiled butter potatoes, colla greens, mac and cheese and cole slaw. EVERYTHING was good. The only let down was the mac and cheese. We were hoping for a baked mac and cheese but it was more of a velveeta style rou mac and cheese. Still good, just not what was pictured or what we prefer. This is a super easy stop off int. 95, maybe a mile off the exit. We will most definitely be stopping in every year as we head south. I would suggest you do the same!

Lively atmosphere and gets very busy. 1/2 rack ribs with a slight crust exterior, tender and smokey, seasoned perfectly. Smoked turkey breast was MOIST with the perfect amount of smoke. Stand out sauces were the Eastern & the Hot. Loaded baked potato w sharp cheddar sauce, beef brisket, topped with house made fried onion rings. And not to be missed is their next level fresh banana pudding. Made with care and fresh ingredients, was divine. Everything was delicious and exceeded our expectations in this famous land of BBQ. Although conveniently just off the I-95, plan for around an hour to dine. Ample parking. Two picnic tables outside. Drive-through.

I can summarize my meal today in one word: cold…read more The meatloaf on my lunch meatloaf plate was obviously not fresh and had been dredged up from the refrigerator. It was served cold. The taco seasoning on my small slice of meatloaf was odd and really out of place in a BBQ restaurant. I wouldn't order this again, even if it would come out of the kitchen hot and fresh. My BBQ boiled potatoes were also leftovers from the 'frig. I don't think the kitchen even tried to warm them before serving my potatoes as they were just cold. If these had been served hot or at least warmed, I think they would have been good, leftovers or not. The restaurant was also freezing cold inside. Despite the outdoor temperature being in the low-50s, the air conditioner was cranked up necessitating wearing my coat during my stay in the restaurant. After taking my order, I didn't see the server again until she dropped off the check. Today's meal really illustrates a failure in the management of this Daddy D's BBQ. Two stars is a very generous rating.
