Curly Metal piece found in my chicken parmigiana. I am furious of how the manager handled this situation. This is definitely not how you run a business!!! Now, the Manager apologized and said that he would comp the chicken parm for me...then asked me if I wanted a new one made, so I said okay sure (after he asked like 3 times) ... thinking that it was free because of his wording. Then, my waitress (who was wonderful...5 starts to her!) came back with my check with the chicken parm still on my bill. I Told the waitress what the manager said, (that he was going to comp my chicken parm)...then the manager came back to tell me that because I asked him to make a new one, that they were going to charge me for it. (Unbelievable!) First of all, Mr. Manager.... I am not one to make a scene! You're lucky I didn't take a picture of it, and you're also lucky that I did not yell out in your restaurant that there was this piece of metal in my food. You're lucky I cut up my chicken and I didn't eat the metal piece... otherwise you could have looked at a law suit!!! I can't believe that the manager still had the audacity to charge me for my meal... after the fact that he was the one that asked me if I wanted a new one. If I knew I was going to be charged for it, I wouldn't even had agreed to him making me a new chicken parm! Was I suppose to ask him if I was going to be charged for my meal again because they're going to make me a new one? After the fact that the manager just told me that my chicken parm would be comped? He didn't say anything about oh now since you want a new one, you'll be charged for it? Wth is that? That's shady business! You don't do that to your customers!!!!! Is that what you call customer service? I am extremely dissatisfied with the way the restaurants manager handled that. This was my first time there and it'll be my last time there! If you handled this situation differently, I would have gladly came back with an open mind & my wallet. I am in the customer service industry, and I know how uptight, entitled, & how rude people can be, so I didn't want to cause a scene, but you left me no choice but to write this review. To the manager, Words can't even describe how upset I am! You should have not charged me for the chicken parm after you said you would comp me for it. (Money isn't the issue! It's the principle!) Put yourself in my shoes. Let's say you went to a restaurant and you had a piece of metal in your food... would you be okay with that? Would you be okay with that restaurants manager charging you for a new meal after the fact that the manager told you that they would comp you for it... and you didn't ask them to make you a new one, and you weren't rude about it. So let me ask you this....Should I have made a scene? If I made a scene, would you have comped me for my chicken parm even after the fact that you made me a new one? When I didn't ask you to make a new one? I hope you learn a lesson today about your customer service skills... and even though I am just one customer....Just like you, I know many people and all it takes is just one bad review. The whitehall diner has been doing a great job with social distancing. They offer indoor & outdoor sitting. Today 10/4/2020 i saw the manager herself packing clean utensils into sets to put them in plastic bags. I was extremely disturb with much disgust to see her not wearing gloves, also taking care of the register and opening the doors with her bare hands and not once washing her hands not even to prep the utensils. What is the point of wearing a mask and social distance if we are putting the germs right into our mouth due to her actions. I did bring it to her attention but I'm extremely concern for other people's health especially that most older people go to this diner. I felt the need to writing this review for awareness. Please be aware. We can not see everything that goes on in a restaurant but this is not acceptable. read more

Very solid 24-hour diner. Jalapeno cheddar cheese poppers were the bomb. Gooey cheese was oozing out of the poppers after the first bite. Mmmm. The smokehouse burger was also very good...packed with lettuce, tomato, and pickles and slathered with BBQ sauce. It normally comes with kettle-cooked chips, but you can get French fries for an extra $1 or so. Fries were very well-cooked...thick-cut and crispy on the outside. When we were at the register paying, I couldn't take my eyes off the homemade strawberry cheesecake sitting in the dessert case. I succumbed and bought a slice to go...It was one of the best last-minute decisions I ever made. Huge strawberries on top of a light, creamy cheesecake base. You won't miss the fact that there's no crust on it. All of their other cakes and pies looked delicious, too. read more

Although the food was good, our server was anything *but* (we ate lunch there on a Sunday in 3/07). That seemed to be typical, since we kept seeing a few servers standing around. The manager (or perhaps he was the owner) was very pleasant and he tried to make up for our server's inattentiveness (truthfully, she was also rather brusque), but it became annoying to keep having to waylay him (our server was hardly ever in view, and she didn't seem interested in anything but taking our order & bringing the food out). read more

On the way home from a night on the slopes at Blue Mountain, we were in search of some hearty breakfast food. This diner was an hour from closing, but we and those who came in after us received wonderful service even so. What caught me a bit off-guard (in a good way) at first was the interior decoration. While the food here is priced comparably with some of the local hole-in-the-wall diner spots I frequent, the relatively updated decor and cleanliness of this restaurant made for a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience off the bat. It certainly surpassed most of the diners where I have eaten in the past. Upon entering, a few staff members who were conversing at a table near the front greeted us with a smile and let us pick out a booth. Our server was knowledgable about the menu and efficiently brought us drinks and silverware. He brought our food out quickly and it was delightful and filling. I had a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes, as well as a bite of my boyfriend's golden french toast. Both were delicious! The last notable part of our experience was the dessert selection. While we were too full for a slice of cake or a brownie sundae after our late-night breakfast food, the menu had a wonderful selection of better-than-average dessert choices for a diner. The selection in the case looked fresh and appetizing. I would love to try the chocolate cake with mousse filling in the future! Overall, great experience and we will be back. read more

My family was in an unfamiliar town celebrating the success of my nephews winning goal playing in the Nazareth Hockey game. We are not from that area so of course I YELPED. This diner was crazy busy at 6pm Sat night but they have a huge seating area (with TV) to have u wait. Our party of 9, and other parties of 2, 3 and 5 before us were each seated within 15 minutes. Outstanding! The waitress was incredibly "on task" serving the kiddie table, separating checks, and serving delicious salads and burgers and other staple diner food to the tables so timely. Food was terrific, selections were substantial and prices were beyond reasonable! $6 for a great burger!!!!! Great selection for kiddie menu too. Def a must. Plus, it's a beautiful looking diner. One of our favorite go-to places. Very disappointed tonight. The food was good, although I don't feel it was quite as good as in the past. The salad had 2 tomatoes and iceberg lettuce (some of which was brown on the edges), some slices of onion and that was it. The chopped steak came only with soup or salad and 1 vegetable. The mashed potatoes were extra. Prices have gone up, and I understand the rising costs due to employment and food costs. Our server was very friendly, but could have been more attentive to our needs. He forgot to bring us the water we requested. We asked again for water but he did not add lemon as we had asked. This has always been our favorite restaurant but it will be quite a while til we go back. Maybe once COVID is finally done. read more

The service is usually very good and quick, with friendly staff. That said, the allure of this place is the quality of the food for the price (regardless of the meal). A family of four, for example, could easily get a well made breakfast for under $20 here (think eggs benedict for $7 and a stack of pancakes for $5). The menu itself consists of pages of tasty diner foods, ranging from all day breakfast, to sandwiches, burgers, and seafood dishes. Whitehall Diner is a favorite of most of the town, and so it can get full during weekend dinner hours. Regardless, getting a table is usually no more than a 10 minute wait (if there's even a wait at all). A must visit if you're in town looking for cheap eats. read more

We initially planned on going to Griddle 145 but because they're closed on Monday we decided to come here instead. We were seated a few minutes after we arrived at a window booth facing the road. I like diners with large windows and being that it was a sunny Monday morning, there was ample sunlight coming in, which is always a plus. Our server, a middle-aged woman, was very friendly and checked on us every five minutes to see if we were enjoying our meal. It was close to noon and there was constant traffic in and out of the restaurant so it must be a popular place. Overall a good experience! read more

Been to this diner plenty of times prior to Covid and glad they are back to the new normal. If you are here during the week Jackie is the best waitress I have found but she can't work every day. Weekends I usually just let them seat me anywhere and today was seated in Juanita's section. Well look out Jackie someone may be trying to replace you. Juanita was excellent there when I needed her and not there when I didn't. Knew how to keep my beverage filled and brought us plenty of syrup. Oh and by the way the food is always excellent. Today I ordered the small fresh fruit. I can't imagine how big the large is. It had all kinds of delicious fresh fruit nothing on it was canned. Apples bananas pineapple pomegranate honey dew strawberries and blueberries seriously pomegranate how often can you get fresh pomegranate at a diner. Aside from extremely slow service (we didn't get our food until 45 min later) - my French onion soup tasted like dirty dish water & my burger came with white American cheese - granted no one asked me what kind of cheese I wanted I would've preferred yellow American or cheddar. I also asked for chips but our waitress brought it out with fries (honestly I'm not sure if she charged us extra or not..($1 isn't going to break my bank).. The Texas chicken sandwich made my husband have stomach issues throughout the day. I had major tummy issues also but nowhere near where my husband's was. I'm giving one star because my 14 month old son enjoyed his grilled cheese... granted it was white American. I'll stick to New Jersey diners from now on. read more

The food is average, but I will never return to this restaurant. After getting out of the hospital less than an hour before, I was really hungry. We chose The Whitehall Diner because I assumed they would be able to accommodate my requests and because they are less than a mile from my house. After looking over the menu, I saw the senior menu. Perfect! They had fish. Perfect! I need to eat high protein, low carb, low fat, low dairy and large fruits and vegetables In small quantities. When the waitress came to take our order I asked about ordering off the senior menu (I am 35 years old). She thought for a second and said "No, sorry. You need to be 62 or older". I asked if she carded all customers that ordered from the senior menu, and she laughed. I explained that I'm unable to eat very much and I was just released from 2 weeks in the hospital an hour befor. Her reply? We have boxes. Ever try to reheat fish? She said you have to be 12 and under to order from the kids meal as well. She gave us some more time and I went up to the pay desk and asked for a manager. Our waitress popped up behind me and said "I am the manager". So we sat down, placed our order, and sadly half of my dinner was thrown out. I could care less about the money, I would have paid full price (which. I did). I just didn't want to see the waste. I've never been to a place that wouldn't sell the menu to whomever is willing to pay the bill. They lost us as customers and everyone we know. I hope it was worth it. read more

There are very few places that are consistently good; the Whitehall dinner is one of them. They are in the process of adding a bakery to the diner as well. There are only a limited amount of restaurants in which you can close your eyes and point to an item on the menu and be sure you'll like it. I wouldn't hesitate to try this there..! And if you ask for a 2nd salsa in place of sour cream, you'll get neither. My deal breaker is no substitutions. I've only ever encountered 2 places that would not let me sub a healthier option for the homefries, like a simple sliced tomato, & this is one of them. Diabetics should avoid this place like the plague. Bottom line, the only substitution that will happen here is another diner for this one. read more

Wow. I cannot stress enough just how poor their customer service is. We went there for breakfast and ordered the chorizo egg special. It can out with chopped jalapeño peppers as well as whole sliced jalapeños. The issue was there was probably 1/2 cup total in this dish. It was entirely too much. We asked to speak to the manager which took her 10 minuted to get to our table. She did nothing but make excuses referring to her Mexican cook who especially likes to put lots of jalapeños in the food. Not only were we offended by the comment but it did not resolve the issue which was the food was overwhelmed by the peppers.
