My hubby got a Belgium waffle plus blueberries and whipped cream. He got a coke and I had coffee ($6 for both). Great breakfast for $22. They are cash only but have an ATM on site. The Meadowbrook Diner has been around for decades (most likely built in the 60's from old aerial views I found) and is more of a cozy old fashioned cash only dining car experience. It was the most expensive of the breakfast diners in the area, but they probably have the best crispy home fries you'll get in these parts. We sat in a window booth with a view of the parking lot and 209. You get a feel of nostalgia when you look around. Paper advertising placemats, small pattern tiled floors, stainless steel accents mixed in with wood paneling and a line of classic counter stools with a fountain base. I remember when this area had a lot less traffic (a lot less City folk). Our server was a really nice older woman who was sweet to my kids. Food wise you'll get breakfast on one side of the menu and a mix of sandwiches, platters, soups, sides, salads and desserts on the other. The kids loved their hot chocolate with whipped cream and the coffee was a delicious roasted blend that was topped off frequently. I ordered eggs over easy, home fries with rye toast and house made sausage. The sausage was alright, a little chewy, but man those home fries were so crispy and delicious. I would order this meal over and over, but probably substitute a different meat. My wife enjoyed a sausage omelet and the kids enjoyed their Mickey Mouse pancakes and scrambled eggs with a bagel. First time at this diner, and it was such a cozy, feel-good breakfast-brunch experience. I've been to a few diners, but this one easily made it to the top of my list. Went to Sunday breakfast, this morning and the food was exceptional. Had the waffle combo w/2 pieces of bacon and 1 egg, over-medium. Considering how busy it was, I thought, "There is no way that egg will come out, over-medium. " WRONG-OH! Not only was the egg cooked the way I ordered it, all the food my husband and I got was hot and very tasty. Now, diner coffee is my " reason d'être " [Okay, perhaps it isn't my, WHOLE, reason for being; but, crummy, old, burnt, bottom-of-the-pot diner coffee is the worst!]. I don't care how many creamers you add. It's a disqualifier for me ever returning to a diner. HERE, AT MEADOWBROOK,, the coffee is made with a commercial-grade BUNN. It is fresh, hot and our cups were filled from the time we sat down, until sipping on our third and final cup. Coffee-drinkers know that a good cup of coffee, served by waitstaff who understands this, MAKES the meal. We sat at the counter and watched the diner chef's ballet. It was amazing to watch the perfectly -timed dance with her sous chef, the waitstaff, cashier and dishwashers - all within about 3 feet of the customer counter and in a none-to-long area for lateral movement. If you've never worked behind a hot grill or balanced 3 dinner plates (2 on one arm/hand the other one in the other hand) I encourage you to try. The host/manager is on top of things- she knows everything happening around her; very impressive! You can see the food being made right behind the counter. And most importantly- the taste! The food tastes like it's made with care. The coffee is delicious too. My husband and I finally stopped in after living in the area over 3 years, and we will be back. We both enjoyed our breakfasts. I loved my French toast, bacon, and egg. He loved his omelet and hash browns (a tip of the hat to the homemade hash browns). We will be back! read more

Old time diner. Nice place. Had the cheese steak omelet with rye toast. Since it came out nearly square, I ended up eating it on toast, using ketchup since it did not come with sauce or manana. Solid breakfast food. Dining experience was not amazing, but pretty darn good. I ordered a Western Omelette with a side of home fries extra brown (aka well done) and rye toast. My western omelette - peppers, onion, american cheese, ham - was delicious. The home fries were perfect! Make sure to order them extra done (local term) or well-done to have them nice and crispy. Don't order the home fries if you are super health conscious or not on your cheat day. We ordered a side of three hot cakes (pancakes) to split between the 3 of us to ensure total annihilation. Hot cakes were excellent. I normally don't enjoy pancakes because most places (like ihop) overdo it with baking soda and salt, causing a bitter flavor. The hot cakes at the meadowbrook diner were mixed by the cook (you can tell) to a proper blend. Hot cakes were fluffy but had a good bite to them. Our group also ordered ham omelettes (x2) which were similarly polished off. Coffee was acceptable - free refills. Only negative experienced was my burnt rye toast and the partial self loathing afterwards. Overall very happy. Service was great. Normally we wait quite a while for food, but that was when there was a fair amount of people in the diner. Today there were only about 5-6 groups. My concern for this diner is the existing fire code violation in the seating area with regard to egress, where a table and bucket seats are positioned against an emergency exit door (physically implied by the crash bar on the door and emergency exit sign to the immediate right of the door). In the event of a fire, food-induced coma patrons, disabled folks, or elderly will not have a chance to evacuate in an immediate or safe manner. It appears that this was a financially motivated decision (more money made with an extra table and seats), prioritized over the safety of patrons. Overall, very happy with our dining experience. Props to the cook and staff. read more

First of all, the service is really good. We had around 30 people as a group from a church camp, and we felt welcome. Staff and service are great! First time eating here so I will have to try again before completely disavow it. I had breakfast and ordered an omelette with home fries. The omelette was undercooked, the veggies were still raw, the taters were half undercooked and half way over cooked, and the toast was drenched to the point of dripping with butter. If you're looking for a place where the female waitresses will be overly friendly to your guy while you are sitting right next to him feeling very uncomfortable, then that's the place to go. My husband and I went in for lunch on a Saturday. Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, bacon Cheeseburger and cheese and gravy fries. All 3 were wonderful. Very pleasantly surprised by the food. This place used to be terrific to eat at years ago, but every time I visit the area I've seen it slowly, but surely deteriorate to become just your Basic Greasy Spoon Eatery. Today I ordered a Hamburger and Fries, and immediately upon being served, I knew something was wrong with the Burger. It smelled slightly rancid, and there was enough grease and oil in it to lube the car I drove in to get there. I took two bites and left the rest of the burger, as I ate just the fries and went on my way. I got as far as Shoprite, when I had to pull the car over and throw up. Thank God I had enough sense not to finish that Burger. I didn't want to create a scene in the Diner so I never said anything about the bad meat, but you can rest assured that I won't be coming back to the Meadowbrook anytime soon. read more
