    French toast, scrambled egg, bacon

The host/manager is on top of things- she knows everything happening around her; very impressive! You can see the food being made right behind the counter. And most importantly- the taste! The food tastes like it's made with care. The coffee is delicious too. My husband and I finally stopped in after living in the area over 3 years, and we will be back. We both enjoyed our breakfasts. I loved my French toast, bacon, and egg. He loved his omelet and hash browns (a tip of the hat to the homemade hash browns). We will be back!

Farm fresh eggs, bread, bacon, home fries with onions, and hot cakes!

Solid breakfast food. Dining experience was not amazing, but pretty darn good. I ordered a Western Omelette with a side of home fries extra brown (aka well done) and rye toast. My western omelette - peppers, onion, american cheese, ham - was delicious. The home fries were perfect! Make sure to order them extra done (local term) or well-done to have them nice and crispy. Don't order the home fries if you are super health conscious or not on your cheat day. We ordered a side of three hot cakes (pancakes) to split between the 3 of us to ensure total annihilation. Hot cakes were excellent. I normally don't enjoy pancakes because most places (like ihop) overdo it with baking soda and salt, causing a bitter flavor. The hot cakes at the meadowbrook diner were mixed by the cook (you can tell) to a proper blend. Hot cakes were fluffy but had a good bite to them. Our group also ordered ham omelettes (x2) which were similarly polished off. Coffee was acceptable - free refills. Only negative experienced was my burnt rye toast and the partial self loathing afterwards. Overall very happy. Service was great. Normally we wait quite a while for food, but that was when there was a fair amount of people in the diner. Today there were only about 5-6 groups. My concern for this diner is the existing fire code violation in the seating area with regard to egress, where a table and bucket seats are positioned against an emergency exit door (physically implied by the crash bar on the door and emergency exit sign to the immediate right of the door). In the event of a fire, food-induced coma patrons, disabled folks, or elderly will not have a chance to evacuate in an immediate or safe manner. It appears that this was a financially motivated decision (more money made with an extra table and seats), prioritized over the safety of patrons. Overall, very happy with our dining experience. Props to the cook and staff.

    Mississippi Mud Pie~ very tasty!

Meadowbrook is a traditional diner where the cooking is still done out front on the grill. It's delicious and it's done right.

Parking up front was plentiful, but they have a service garage and an equipment rental place on each side of them so sometimes the entrances can be tight. They have plenty of table seats and a small bar with diner stools. We sat at a quad by the window. The staff was friendly, great with kids and kept the coffee topped off. They only gave us breakfast menus, but they had all the standards you'd expect. I ordered eggs sunny side up, hash browns, bacon and rye toast. They made a Mickey Mouse pancake for my youngest, eggs and a bagel for the other and a large waffle for my wife. The eggs were on the small side, but delicious, hash browns were crispy, greasy and good. I can't complain it was a comforting meal. The kids were happy and my wife's waffle was enough for a second meal the next morning. The coffee was a tasty typical roasted diner coffee. We had a good family experience here and would return. Thanks guys!

They are almost always a plus to the atmosphere - you get a nice "family" or "community" feeling. The only negative is their parking lot. The auto business next store seems to park cars they are working on there. A few times we went to other restaurants thinking West End was crowded. And even now that we know, it can be annoying trying to get a spot. I wish they could do something about that. There double breakfast (anytime during the day) is to die for - we always take much of it home, since there is so much.

I drove out to the diner on Wednesday to pick up some soup and was told they do not have oyster stew available. I told the waitress it was not her fault. I was not taking it out on her, but I received a text on Sunday saying that it was available until May 1. I asked when it would be available again. She went into the kitchen, came back out and said not until September. Why would someone have messaged me telling me it was available until May 1??? the waitress offered me cream of broccoli and a couple other kinds of soup, but it felt to me like it was a bait and switch deal! I made the trip for nothing.

Mountainhome Diner has been around for years and is your typical diner with all-day breakfast available. It's clean and the staff were exactly what you want in a diner with friendliness and hospitality. I went with a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some well done potatoes. My friend had the scrapple with some scrambled eggs. I also had an orange juice. The orange juice I did not care for. Definitely not fresh squeezed. But the sandwich was excellent along with the potatoes. My friend also loved his coffee and scrapple with egg. My meal came to $11 not including tip. We'd come back!

The current owners since 2017 are husband and wife restaurateurs Ali and Etab Abullattif. The enormous menu features classic staples such as omelets, pancakes, eggs benedict, french toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast wraps, salads, sandwiches, paninis, burgers, seafood entrees, steakhouse entrees, and various Italian specialties too numerous to mention. My family and I visited Mountainhome Diner for lunch on a recent trip to the Poconos. It was actually are last morning on our trip and we were looking for a place to grab lunch before making the drive back to Connecticut. We had driven past the diner several times on previous visits to the area, but had never visited before. We decided to give them a try. It seemed like a classic American diner that you could find just about anywhere. There's no website, no social media accounts, just good old-fashioned diner staples. The staff were friendly and accommodating and they seated us at a booth. A go-to dish that my wife and I both like to get at classic diners is a Greek salad, and Mountainhome Diner's "Big Fat Greek Salad" (chopped iceberg lettuce, crumbled feta, olives, tomato, onions, peppers, grape leaves, house Greek vinegar) sounded like it was just what we were looking for. I ordered mine with gyro while my wife ordered hers with chicken. Those salads really hit the spot! For our sons, we looked to the Kids Menu. Our older son had the "Hot Dog with French fries" while our younger son had the "Chicken Fingers with French fries". They were both very happy with their dishes. We had a nice time at Mountainhome Diner and we're happy that we finally stopped in. We recommend them to anyone visiting the area!
