This is a great course for all level of golfer. They have a very nice warm up area, as well as a very clean pro shop. The Golf Course was an excellent condition and it is challenging enough for a low handicap golfer as well as forgiving enough for a relatively high handicap golfer. That is a rare combination. They do have an area that serves drinks and some food, but do not have a full restaurant. The carts are in good condition but do not have GPS. read more

Beautiful views but we booked our tee times a week prior and when we get 6 holes in this is what the remainder of the fairways looked like. If you want to play golf in the Tahoe area, this is one of my favorite places to do it. You have to drive about 45-60 minutes from Truckee through rural farms and ranch towns, but it's worth it (must be very popular with car groups--we saw both a Porsche club and a Ferrari club driving through). Whitehawk features a combination of both wide open fairways and others with pine trees lining both sides. Both times I've played here the greens were soft, in great shape, and fair. The fairways were mostly lush and inviting. You'll find lots of babbling brooks alongside or across many of the holes, which helps make it feel very relaxing and fun. As for the facilities, there isn't really much of a clubhouse (hence the 4-star rating). There's a pro shop, a deck with tables, and a little sandwich shake (they do a very nice job, BTW). But the driving range is a gem, and incredibly scenic. Add that to a convenience practice area, and you've got a great golf destination at a reasonable price (for the area). read more

I first played Whitehawk Ranch over 10 years ago but made a trip back with 11 others on August 15, 2020 and everyone loved this gem. The course was in great condition and the staff in the pro shop were very friendly and accommodating. My only regret is not making the trip sooner. I highly recommend the trip to support this excellent golf course. I will definitely be heading back soon. The Whitehawk Ranch Golf Course was in a magnificent, wooded mountain setting. The views were stunning and the course was absolutely beautiful. The course and facilities were perfectly maintained. The fairways and greens were pristine. The greens were receptive, smooth, moderately fast and had very interesting contours. Overall, the course was challenging but not overly intimidating. They have a nice practice facility, clubhouse and a proshop. The staff were all friendly and efficient, from the head pro to the lunch shack and bag handlers. The "Golf Made Simple" program (See their web site) was a very different approach. It demystifies a sport which has traditionally been taught in an overly complicated fashion. The mornings consisted of about 4 hours of teaching and drills. We were provided a nice breakfast and lunch and our pro ate lunch with us. The afternoon was a 9 hole playing lesson with the same pro. The second and third mornings we reviewed our individual videos before we started. We spent the three days with a PGA pro, Cody Vukovich. He was wonderful. He was very patient, calming and knowledgeable. read more

Whitehawk Ranch is a beautiful golf course. The people who work here are always friendly, the pro shop full of nice things, and the food in the snack bar better than most golf courses. I took in my empty stainless steel water bottle at the turn and they filled it with ice and water. So nice! This is a challenging course without being impossible. The 18 holes are varied and interesting. Be sure to bring your bug repellant just in case. Lots of vegetation can come with a price. I've played here and not seen a bug, but it's not always the case. The course is surrounded by beautiful woods and natural vegetation. If you're lucky you'll see a deer or two, but are guaranteed to hear and see a variety of birds. read more

Of all of the courses in the area, this is the one everyone wants to play when they come up and visit our vacation home. What a fantastic layout -- so serene, so relaxed, and a wonderful golf experience bordered by the mountains on either side. The water features on multiple holes are gorgeous, especially the meandering stream on #9, which creates one of my favorites holes visually on any course I play. (Look for the frogs next to the back tees in the water on this hole.) The food is fantastic at grill which has been run by the same kind woman for years. We always look forward to seeing her..... Practice facilities are second to none. Not hard to spend four hours working on your game here. read more

Our group of friends makes a Portola Area Trip once a year and plays several different area courses during our stay. The highlight is always Whitehawk Ranch. Everything about the course is pristine. Operations seems flawless. I can't remember the name of the snack bar at the turn but they do an amazing job on everything they server (amazingly good made to order Tuna Cup). While Whitehawk Ranch is taking all of the recommended precautions during these Covid times they have managed to creat an environment that allows you to escape today's world issues. I can't recommend the the course enough. read more

Not a good experience. People all pretty rude. We finally find someone to help us to a cart and load up. We head to the range. Turn around and someone had unloaded our cart, leaving our stuff on the ground. Actually they then drove off with all our phones and drinks. The starter and cart guys where rude unhelpful and useless. Writing this review on the 14th tee. Painfully slow and on target for five and a half hours. Any marshals out here??? Of course not. Look, it's a bit of a trip to get out here. Lovely place and nice course. But the staff weren't nice and there's no course regulation. read more

A beautiful 18 hope golf course, nestled in the tall pines. I have played there 2 years in a row and I have been amazed on how nice the greens roll. The size of most of the fairways is a fair size, they are well kept and when I have played they have been just a beautiful green color. We visit Graeagle area every year at least once and wife and i play golf on three to four courses during the week. We aren't the type to write things unless they are exceptionally good or exceptionally poor. this unfortunately is one of the POOR reviews. We've played this course at least four times in the past. After being treated GREAT at Plumas Pines and Grizzly Ranch we played our last day at Whitehawk. we were treated so rudely i doubt we'll be back. the man in the pro shop was rude and curt. Saying he'd put our clubs on our cart from the drop area we were left standing there as he drove off. No info on where he was going. finally figured he'd driven to the practice area. he got out of the cart and was about to the shop when i had to ask where i could buy balls. he curtly said and pointed. well they are right there on the range! and walked off. said the starter would come get us. the starter was late getting us and he got mad because we had moved the cart 20ft asking if we were in a rush. VERY RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! then at the first tee he got upset with my wife for saying Grizzly Ranch was her favorite course. over all the course is nice not great. lots of frost damage at the time June 3rd. with the rude treatment i doubt we'll be back, lots of courses there where we'll be treated well without the abuse. just BEWARE! read more

Been playing here since it opened. Always fabulous. Go at least 3-5 times a year and it never disappoints. Pro shop staff incl head pro Tad always makes us feel like we are at our home course. Food n bev is also more than great. Best tuna cup around. If that matters- it matters. Lol. Give it a try you will be happy!!!! read more

Father in law took me to Whitehawk while we were visiting. Course was in great shape and the range featured premium balls that didn't damage your clubface. You can have lunch out on the porch overlooking the driving range and Sierra mountain range. read more

Played on 6/3/10. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. At $125 I expected perfection and got greens that had been recently aerated and sanded and a few with brown earth patches. Quite a few of the fairways had what should have been ground under repair ,some due to burrowing animal problems. I would wait about a month to golf there if you are insisting on going. I thought that there was a lack of any degree of really listening when these unsatisfactory condition were reported to the Pro shop and I was only offered excuses that everything there was wonderful. Well dream on...it wasn't!! Do they not know how to keep a customer happy!!? I won't be back .Golf at Plumas Pines..they care what you have to say and the course is in excellent condition now. read more
