I can't say enough good things about Blake and the crew at Craven Tire in New Bern, NC. While…read moretraveling to visit my mom, the alternator on my 2015 Winnebago Travato failed and I found myself in a tough spot. Blake went above and beyond to help get me back on the road. I had already picked up a replacement alternator on my way in, since it would've taken a couple of days to source one locally--unfortunately, once Blake's team began the work, they discovered the part was broken. They immediately called me, and because of their quick communication, I was able to drive an hour away, pick up another alternator, and get it back to the shop the same afternoon. Their tech jumped right on it and got everything installed before closing, ensuring I could continue my trip the next day. That level of effort and professionalism is rare these days. The service impressed me so much that on my next visit to see my mom, I brought the Travato back to Craven Tire to have the shocks replaced. The more I interact with Blake and his team, the more I appreciate their honesty, skill, and genuine customer care. Every technician I've met there is friendly, knowledgeable, and committed to doing quality work. If you're anywhere near New Bern and need automotive service--routine or emergency--this is the place you want to go.

They recommended Blackhawk tires and quoted me $620 for the tires, mounting, and installation. During the call, they also required a $50 deposit, which immediately seemed unusual. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, I was told it would be quite a while before they could get to my vehicle. I also discovered they were charging $135 per tire for the same tire that other shops were selling for around $80. At that point, I decided not to proceed and asked for my $50 deposit back so I could take my business elsewhere. The owner refused to refund the deposit. Between the excessive pricing, the wait time despite having an appointment, and the refusal to return my deposit, my experience was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this business.

They even snuck in an emissions test when I did not need one, nor did I ask for one. I went in for an oil change, and tune up, it ran me $1250. I expected maybe $250, tops. I almost threw up when he told me the cost. Absolutely insane. Not knocking quality of work, I'd assume that's okay although I don't feel a difference in how it drives. I will always believe that all mechanics are absolute crooks and I wouldn't recommend a single one to anybody. I'd recommend getting a new car, change oil regularly and avoid mechanics at all cost. This place was no different. Appalled at my $1250 bill.
